Although I'm back in the U.S, I was a teacher in an International school for about 4 years in Vietnam, among other countries.. It really put into perspective the importance of having work that builds and uplifts our communities in a positive way. Even given Vietnam's past history with America, they welcomed me and I tried my best to help out as much as I could. Helping others is one of the true paths to fulfillment.

I was paid quite well for being a teacher actually. It was relatively easy to save 20k-25k per year, with having 3 months of paid vacation as well. I was able to spend summers in Phuket training Muay Thai and going to the beach everyday. How's your parent's basement in North Jersey treating you?

Now, what usually brings me here is a case of the empties. The guitar has lost its fun and I am fucking lazy. I signed up for 4 hours of lessons with a local guitarist. I am at a plateau where I can play A, Am, Aetc, C, D, Dm, Detc, E, Em, Eetc, G reasonably well although I would like to be more crisp and consistent and I would like to be much better with the transitions between the chords. I would like to learn how to play F, Bb, Gm + others and be able to play more songs as well as write my own. I just cannot seem to accomplish this on my own and my practice feels stale and like I am just re-enforcing mediocre chord shapes that produce mediocre sounds.

If u want to save some monies u can do online lessons with a low cost of living country. Online lessons probably have issues but ur not rolling in dough or anything.

Me personally I quit guitar partly because u thought it was a good pursuit lol.

I think I am more free with the latter although society associates the uncut hair with freedom among other things. If I have long hair and I am speckled with paint that's quite a lot different than a buzz cut in a uniform. But, having a buzz cut allows me to forget about any sort of expression through my hairstyle and frees it up elsewhere. I am free when performing vocals / guitar for ghosts, I am free sailing the oceans of blue for a period of time, I can buy a jet-ski or a good book but truly I must be at peace with myself to experience any freedom. There is also the facet that I am coerced into working for capital and that my days off are recovery / distractions to better perform at the behest of capital but I think freedom or bits of freedom can be found anywhere that there is a peace within someones' psyche or probably more accurately their spirit or soul. Do things that enrich the soul and the spirit and find ones' self with more freedom and paradise.

I can eat some cheesecake to see if that works. I can play the guitar but honestly the guitar is not great relief for me yet. I rattle out chords and struggle with smooth transitions. I am not Jimi Hendricks or Eric Clapton with the ability to make the guitar sing with amalgamations of blues, psychedelic rock, and personal expression. There are no guitar solos in my repertoire. Actually, that gave me an idea to figure out a simple blues riff so at least I can sing the blues. God knows I sing the blues a lot on here. It's just in my nature.

thats why classical guitar is better.

it feels really stupid playing some chords and to some song but the actual melody you are singing it with your voice. you can get to doing a solo on classical pretty quickly. you can do fingerstyle on acoustic but much easier on classical. plus the training structure for classical is super established and regimented...and the people that are into classical guitar are really into it because its niche.
