I watched about 2minutes. This guy Is what every LinkedIn circlejerker aspires to be.
Imma hire 30 doctors to make me live 5 years longer when they could be doing actual useful shit with their M.D. Jesus Christ I can't even with these insufferable douchebags.
These people actually made a world where I want my life expectancy to be reduced asap.
Did he really say at the start of the video that he will be the first generation to not die??????
Gee, I've never heard that before...

I'd rather be Byung-Chul Han or some retired shephard from Sardegnia than to do all that shit. |
This guy also has microplastics in his brain and testicle, which probably degrades his semen quality. He probably doesn't factor that into his diet. Every time he has a kid, they are bourne from increased microplastics ejaculated concentration.
His psychological state will gradually become more irratible as time goes on and heatwaves increase while biodiversity declines.
His neurobiology is rewired by the adverts he sees, which started moulding his brain from the age of 2, and encouraged him to pursue his individualistic life, which he seems to think is totally original. By age 3, he was likely comparing his social status with his peers, going off brand names.
The nutrition of his plants in his food will further decrease as they are ruined by nitrogen based fertilizer and other chemicals and reduced pollination from insect decline.
Aerosols in the atmosphere make their way into his lunga and cause all sorts of health problems.
The bacteria in his body will become more resistant to antibiotics, and more such bacteria will enter his bloodstream due to ecological breakdown and agricultural contamination as well as dust storms as well as increased body temperatures.
Depending on where he lives, maleria and dengue and yellow fever may make it to his region in the future. Melting permafrost may release more dangerous pathogens.
The doctors he hires probably don't tell him this, to keep him in a state of perpetual self delusion so that their payroll continues without hindrance.
Of course, he escapes most of these issues to a varying degree, but hard to escape forever even as a billionaire.
You can actually get your life expectancy up to about 80 just from clean water and universal Healthcare, and community. And not much else. Don't need to be that rich. That seems to be the consensus anyway.
Also strong community goes really really far for increasing the life expectancy of men. Less Suicides. Less mental health issues. Less addiction.
Neoliberalism Is basically designed to break men, particularly in patriarchal societies where men base their identity off being the bread providers.
This doesn't stop armies of manosphere influences from encouraging individualism and hyper competitive lifestyles.
This guy is not a manosphere influencer ofc. Just another guy who thinks the best contribution he can make to society is divert resources to himself in order to have the perfect life, quantified down to the last fucking quinoa seed.
There's a chance this guy will die from a papercut once the antibiotics run out. That would be pretty ironic.
I respect incels far more than this guy.
That's all for today folks. Ngl I had fun with this post. |

I'm not making predictions and there is no need for the end of the world to occur to thwart his plans, he could have just been caught in the LA fires for example, being rich doesn't shield rich people from everything. But yes when you're talking on the scale of centuries (since he wants to live for centuries if not forever) you have to account for the worst of the worst of climate change and everything that that will bring about. Anthropogenic climate change is one of the most scientifically robust theories we have and you would have to be a complete moron to think that would not affect Mr Batman from continuing to live peacefully with all his gadgets while people grow his food and build everything he uses. The whole thing becomes absolutely meaningless when capital is no longer the ruling principle of life on earth, which it wouldn't be in hundreds of years by necessity. |
Antropogenic climate change is almost a fact, but there is a wall of complex systems that we can't see through, hence all the time frames and predictions have been wrong and they have been politically driven hysteria, so if we say he has like 40 years left to live I'd say its pretty unlikely he suffer any significant change in his lifestyle due to climate and or some communist upraise lol.
Regarding him specifically you think he is wasting his life and you dislike him for his selfish pursuit of longevity, I agree that he is wasting his life but I think his selfish pursuit of longevity might actually create some knowledge about longevity/health for the rest of us, another example of industrious self interest being good for society, + 1 points to Ayn Rand haha.

Stroggoz already added more than enough about climate change so I won't bother, I'm just going to mention that Bryan Johnson is not doing anything original, the movement that he represents as a venture capitalist is one that was popularized in 2005 by Ray Kurzweil. He basically gave himself a life purpose + monetized the belief that given enough time, human beings would become immortal. He is trying to do everything in his power to reverse aging so that he reaches the key turning point for this: the arrival of Artificial Superintelligence. Kurzweil predicted this would become a reality around 2045. It's techno-optimism and stems from the same primitive psychology as religious messianism.
Doesn't matter what I think of him as a person, he's way underestimating the power of his therapies (like the plasma transfusions he got from his son did absolutely nothing for his health). He currently thinks he can keep reversing aging, so that he's not actively dying. This is just plain not true. But the real issue isn't his character it's the pseudo-philosophy he believes in, which can only occur in the mind of someone who is disconnected (shielded) from the world as it actually exist. Given enough time humans adapt to their circumstances and take them for granted. We can't really conceive of how drastically different our lives might look in the future, we are hardwired to be short-sighted. All he's doing is short-sighted because it doesn't account for the fragility of our systems which he depends on to pursue this mission, especially over a large timeframe of more than one lifetime.
There are so many potential climate catastrophes or social catastrophes that could affect him between now and let's say 70 years from now, which you don't need any special technology to be able to accomplish living to. But if you take him at his word he would not only avoid all of this perturbing his routines but he would also be able to do it for several lifetimes.
Its a cool niche for an influencer because there aren't tons of people with the means to do what he's doing, and it's still relatively novel, but I think in a few decades he's going to be tired and bored. It's not nearly serious enough to be of use to society. One case study can be interesting for further research but fails to prove anything. He would need to invest his fortune and get a bunch more people to do experimental treatments with him but ultimately it would just be for silly points of "I'm biologically younger than you according to this test" which of course doesn't mean you're not going to get some disease that's going to kill you or be in some accident. |

Just to a highlight one of the problems with his approach is that he takes 100+ supplements daily, and supplements are known to vary greatly in their true content, and they often contain contaminants. Sometimes the contaminants are in such high levels that we can conclude that whatever effect the supplement might have had, it has been completely nullified.
Bryan also sells all the stuff he takes and one of his products got tested recently and it is illegal to sell in Europe because of heavy metal contamination. He has this test on his own website but still sells it. |

Yeah I dont think scientists would learn much from this single human subject. A single test subject does healthy things and lives to 98 or something. What does that tell you?
The real anti-aging science out there presumably is done in fields like microbiology under controlled experiments, or it's done epidemiologically, like studying various cultures in the world and seeing what they so different and controlling for variables. Like Nicoya people in Costa Rica. Although that study turned out to be problematic. |

“We use most of our powers to extend life. In so doing, we succeed only in reducing life to survival. We live in order to survive. The mania for health and optimization is a reflexive response to the lack of being. We try to compensate for the absence of being by extending bare life, and in so doing we become desensitized to life’s intensity. We confuse it with increased production, performance and consumption, but these are merely forms of survival.”
- Byung-Chul Han Vita Contemplativa
"Genar-Hofoen glanced at her. 'I always said I'd live once and then die,' he said. 'Never to be reborn, never to enter a simulation.' He shrugged and looked embarassed. 'Intensity,' he said. 'You know; make the most of your one time.'
Genar-Hofoen was sticking to his principles in the face of imminent death - and she did feel a little admiration - but mostly she just thought he was being stupid."

I'm not even the healthiest man in this thread but I'm doing pretty well for myself lately at least in terms of bare life (survival). I don't like that marker of "healthy" but it seems to be what most people mean when they use the term "healthy." Am I happy? Am I well? Am I going to kill myself? Is someone going to ship a nuke at my house? How is my blood work? These are all considerations I suppose. |

I'm glad you brought this up because that was something I wondered. He calls his evoo "Snake Oil" and I just thought that was a dubious name. It's like a leveling game. Which level is Bryan on. I think he is probably delusional more than straight up grift but it's hard to tell. |

We are in agreement on almost everything about it, its not like he is doing super useful reserach or anything he is just a weird Patrick Bateman character, I was only referring to your part of "selfish pursuit of health" which I guess its just the crooked way you see life in general so its not like we are going to get anywhere there are we? |

There isn't a more miserable archetype than the doomsday-obsessed-leftist, sure save the bees and fight the man are cool and all when you are a teenager but if you are still trying to derive some life meaning in that whlie you approach 40 you are fucked, you are no different than Bryan Johnson throwing your lives away in metastasized anxiety, neurotic acolytes.
In before I get flooded with 100 studies about antibiotic resistant bacteria totally missing the point.... the point being that I've been pro phasing out fossils for nuclear for 15 years in this forum, while somebody else in this thread has been quite antinuclear all this time and that's is simply because acolytes don't have eyes nor care to see, they just follow dogma and thankfully you are not that far gone, but given your posts about climate and other threats it seems to me that you've grown more anxious over the years, don't walk down that path bro. |

Have you begun having memory problems already? I've mentioned twice that it's especially the case in the context of ultra-longevity, he expects to live for hundreds of years if not forever, so it's in effect the same as having a long line of descendants being affected by it.
I expect to be affected by it in the same ways I have already been, extreme weather effects which don't pose an existential threat to me. Even if they could trouble my routine for some time, I don't rely on having a bunch of technology and expensive treatments and a group of workers devoted to me, so my routine being disturbed is not an equivalent to his being disturbed. Of course there's other issues that will get worse like economic / racial tensions from increased immigration but I don't expect that to prevent me from working and it's not turning me into a prepper. |

Climate change and ecology has in fact never once made me feel anxious or depressed, even though I think and work on it every day and do believe that very dark times are here already and will get dramatically worse.
I treat it with a dark sense of humor and have to laugh at the absurdity of the world we live in. No amount of genius could ever imagine this world we have.
It's the reaction to climate change that has made me frustrated, but at this point the climate movement is quite big and there are about 5 groups in my local area that I try to network with and learn from. I don't think we will be that successful but it's worth a shot.
That people are willing to fight is reward enough for me. In the meantime, I'll try my best at understanding capitalism and people can use me as a weapon.
I'm just a bit surprised that your views are fairly unchanged given all that has happened in the last 10 years, in both scientific understanding of the climate and political crises and cultural shifts too. Nuclear is not something that people even talk about anymore.
You can be 40 years old and work a part time job and do environmental activism in your spare time BTW.
Personally I have adhd so I've always had issues with extreme levels of hyperfocus which you may remember from the stone cutter days. It doesn't really have anything to do with anxiety but it does make life balance pretty hard. We all have our strengths and weaknesses.
A lot of the politics talk to with people is really not that extreme lefty stuff either. I am on the radical left but its just not the time or place for political philosophy anymore.
Like the right to repair is one thing I'm interested in lately and there's a lot of common ground for libertarians and ecologists over it.

If you're the healthiest man alive, then your life would suck.
Eating junk food and having cheat meals is fun when you're doing group activities like watching a sports game or celebrating a win that your team had, like the Superbowl or NBA finals. |

Considering how you've been crying about antifa for years and claimed they were more dangerous than Nazis I will take that statement with a huge grain of ironic salt.

I feel like Baals strategy is to portray you as the dark lord who corrupts all he touches while im like the model but flawed leftwinger that does things right and Rikd is an Easterling that has been corrupted by your influence. Im not sure what the point of it is though. |
