Just to a highlight one of the problems with his approach is that he takes 100+ supplements daily, and supplements are known to vary greatly in their true content, and they often contain contaminants. Bryan also sells all the stuff he takes and one of his products got tested recently and it is illegal to sell in Europe because of heavy metal contamination. He has this test on his own website but still sells it.
I'm glad you brought this up because that was something I wondered. He calls his evoo "Snake Oil" and I just thought that was a dubious name. It's like a leveling game. Which level is Bryan on. I think he is probably delusional more than straight up grift but it's hard to tell.

Doesn't matter what I think of him as a person, he's ay underestimating the power of his therapies (like the plasma transfusions he got from his son did absolutely nothing for his health). He currently thinks he can keep reversing aging, so that he's not actively dying. This is just plain not true. But the real issue isn't his character it's the pseudo-philosophy he believes in, which can only occur in the mind of someone who is disconnected (shielded) from the world as it actually exist. Given enough time humans adapt to their circumstances and take them for granted. We can't really conceive of how drastically different our lives might look in the future, we are hardwired to be short-sighted. All he's doing is short-sighted because it doesn't account for the fragility of our systems which he depends on to pursue this mission, especially over a large timeframe of more than one lifetime.
There are so many potential climate catastrophes or social catastrophes that could affect him between now and let's say 70 years from now, which you don't need any special technology to be able to accomplish living to. But if you take him at his word he would not only avoid all of this perturbing his routines but he would also be able to do it for several lifetimes.
Its a cool niche for an influencer because there aren't tons of people with the means to do what he's doing, and it's still relatively novel, but I think in a few decades he's going to be tired and bored. It's not nearly serious enough to be of use to society. One case study can be interesting for further research but fails to prove anything. He would need to invest his fortune and get a bunch more people to do experimental treatments with him but ultimately it would just be for silly points of "I'm biologically younger than you according to this test" which of course doesn't mean you're not going to get some disease that's going to kill you or be in some accident.
We are in agreement on almost everything about it, its not like he is doing super useful reserach or anything he is just a weird Patrick Bateman character, I was only referring to your part of "selfish pursuit of health" which I guess its just the crooked way you see life in general so its not like we are going to get anywhere there are we?

You're the one who is missing the point bud. I'm not leaving any little bundles of joy behind and my family will all be gone by the time I have a natural death, not that we're close anyway. I don't live in doomsday anxiety because I have no horse in this race and it's unlikely to deeply affect my own life at least for a long while thanks to my geographical location. Just a few posts above you said that guy was going to suffer the effects of climate change yet now you say you won't be affected, so which is it?

Have you begun having memory problems already? I've mentioned twice that it's especially the case in the context of ultra-longevity, he expects to live for hundreds of years if not forever, so it's in effect the same as having a long line of descendants being affected by it.
I expect to be affected by it in the same ways I have already been, extreme weather effects which don't pose an existential threat to me. Even if they could trouble my routine for some time, I don't rely on having a bunch of technology and expensive treatments and a group of workers devoted to me, so my routine being disturbed is not an equivalent to his being disturbed. Of course there's other issues that will get worse like economic / racial tensions from increased immigration but I don't expect that to prevent me from working and it's not turning me into a prepper.

Climate change and ecology has in fact never once made me feel anxious or depressed, even though I think and work on it every day and do believe that very dark times are here already and will get dramatically worse.
I treat it with a dark sense of humor and have to laugh at the absurdity of the world we live in. No amount of genius could ever imagine this world we have.
It's the reaction to climate change that has made me frustrated, but at this point the climate movement is quite big and there are about 5 groups in my local area that I try to network with and learn from. I don't think we will be that successful but it's worth a shot.
That people are willing to fight is reward enough for me. In the meantime, I'll try my best at understanding capitalism and people can use me as a weapon.
I'm just a bit surprised that your views are fairly unchanged given all that has happened in the last 10 years, in both scientific understanding of the climate and political crises and cultural shifts too. Nuclear is not something that people even talk about anymore.
You can be 40 years old and work a part time job and do environmental activism in your spare time BTW.
Personally I have adhd so I've always had issues with extreme levels of hyperfocus which you may remember from the stone cutter days. It doesn't really have anything to do with anxiety but it does make life balance pretty hard. We all have our strengths and weaknesses.
A lot of the politics talk to with people is really not that extreme lefty stuff either. I am on the radical left but its just not the time or place for political philosophy anymore.
Like the right to repair is one thing I'm interested in lately and there's a lot of common ground for libertarians and ecologists over it.

If you're the healthiest man alive, then your life would suck.
Eating junk food and having cheat meals is fun when you're doing group activities like watching a sports game or celebrating a win that your team had, like the Superbowl or NBA finals.

Considering how you've been crying about antifa for years and claimed they were more dangerous than Nazis I will take that statement with a huge grain of ironic salt.

Thats a funny one. I definitely get that schizophrenic fascist discussions surrounding Putin and also the marxists who are simultaneously pathetic losers but also running universities. (Jordan Peterson).
I feel like Baals strategy is to portray you as the dark lord who corrupts all he touches while im like the model but flawed leftwinger that does things right and Rikd is an Easterling that has been corrupted by your influence. Im not sure what the point of it is though.

Don't try to find some deep point to it, they are just extremely blind, childish, prejudiced people, full of hypocrisy. It's all about them, their desire for power and money, and society does not truly exist in their minds. They have not been taught how to think critically and just throw shit at the wall and hope it sticks. Hilarious that Baal calls us doomers when people on his side which he likes and defends like Jordan Peterson can say things like "I don't think Canada will survive 4 more years with the liberal party in power" and his BIGGEST FEAR -- get that -- is that the liberal party, Carney specifically, is too much of an environmentalist! It's fucking insane. These people have brainworms. Carney is to him what antifa is to Baal - the sign of the end of civilization lol. His video is full of baseless fearmongering and a bunch of anti-environmental propaganda. "There is no evidence that there is a climate crisis". "More co2 in the atmosphere is actually good - we have more plants as a result". "Actually this is the lowest period of co2 concentration in the last 500 million years!" etc. You're either brain-dead or you're paid a lot of money by people in power to lie about things like this. He should have never gotten out of his medically-induced coma to treat his drug addiction.

I won't bite on "what has changed" regarding global warming I don't want to be flooded by meaningless info, it all seems pretty much the same to me in regards of situation and solutions, and about political and cultural shifts I dont think it anything surprising happened, the pendulum is swinging back, thankfully the left espoused radical social ideas that were too unpalatable for the normies and they accelerated the push back.
You can be 40 years old and work a part time job and do environmental activism in your spare time BTW.
I'm more of the previously mentioned high agency schizo kind, activism is for low agency morons that is if global warming were a particular interest of mine. It isn't.

I really like the idea of reparable things, I think the overly wasteful consumption is culturally isolated to the US, pretty much everyone I know that visits the US finds it disgusting how much wasteful they are in things as simple as how the package their vegetables for example, there should be a strong marketing drive towards reparable things like that modular cellphone that we all saw but never came to fruition.

Protesting and destroying things isn't high agency you dumbass it's quite the opposite, a high agency leftist would do things like build a business and give the "means of productions" to the workers, get some remote land and build a thriving commune or something along those lines.
Leftists aren't strong individually, they are mostly low agency mobs but they dangerous because there are many like you, its an idea very easy to sell to the masses, just like religion, people will believe idiotic things if they like them.

No it isn't as poetic as that, he is just a guy who our of rebellious resentment to his family fell into ideologies that he should have grown out of by now but hasn't been able to.
He didn't corrupt Rik, he simply gave bad advice and enabled a mentally ill person who was mid-psychotic-crisis was blaming capitalism out of all things for his problems instead of taking responsibility for his addictions and actions.
You are not skywalker and he Darthvader lol, you are just a smart guy like him who was also ruminating on the same ideas and I thought he would likely nudge you into walking his same sad path, and it seems you are.
Oh well, at least we saved Floofy.
