just to entertain you guys, heres a decently long response that gave me a bit of closure, BUT I STILL WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!! :
Hello XXXX,
Thank you for your email though I am sorry to hear that you have had a hard
time lately here at PokerStars. As a fellow poker player, I can empathize
with you in regards to the highs and lows that poker sometimes dishes out.
Whether playing online, at a friend's house, or in a casino, the nature of
the game dictates that sometimes we both will have downswings and be on the
end of some bad beats.
Normally when we respond to bad beat complaints such as yours, we have
reviewed the player's account and see they have generally been playing poker
for a relatively short time. So we take the time to explain to them that
there is no such thing as a doomswitch or whatever thing they've read about
on an online forum that has convinced them that they are somehow being
cheated by online poker.
However, I have reviewed your account and see you have been playing online
at PokerStars for just over 2 years, have achieved Supernova VIP status, and
have profited close to $115,000.00 in winnings.
With all your online poker experience, would it be safe for me to suggest
that if I provided you with the usual "online poker is not rigged" stuff
which is similarly populating discussion forums, that it would be an insult
to your intelligence?
You are a valued player at PokerStars, and your record indicates you are a
successful one too. So rather than talk to you about a subject that you
already have knowledge of, let me instead sympathise with your current
situation. I play poker too (although unfortunately I am not allowed to play
at PokerStars), and can certainly appreciate the frustration of experiencing
a downswing.
Mason Malmuth once wrote about such "variance" that it is possible to play
absolutely perfect poker, making the right play 100% of the time, and still
be on a downswing for months at a time. This is true regardless of the
quantity of play over the months, even for players like yourself raking in
hundreds of thousands of hands in this period.
Just to recap on some facts about your account:
- You have played a total of 3,453,841 hands on our site in 2 years.
- You are profiting around $115k.
- You have received multiple Supernova VIP benefits and awards.
- You have been given details of our sites integrity and the randomness of
our shuffle in the past.
So you're running lower than EV, this happens. As an an experienced winning
player, if you really think we are rigged because your not winning as much
as you should be, you are lying to yourself.
Hopefully it will be enough for me to say, from one poker player to another,
that bad beats and downswings happen to us all, and that with the solid
skills that your record suggests you possess, I trust your results will
improve in the near future.
At the end of the day, try and remember why you started playing poker. You
obviously found it enjoyable due to the challenges it presents. Bad beats
and how you deal with bad beats is simply one of those obstacles you have to
overcome.
However, if you still have any doubts about the dealing of our games. I urge
you to analyze your full hand history and not just the last months where you
have show to run lower than expected.
Should you have anymore questions regarding our site, I will be more than
happy to assist you in any way I can, now or into the future. I sincerely
wish you all the best in our games, and a pleasant playing experience.
Thank you for choosing PokerStars.
Regards,
Andrew
