I'm going to imagine there's incredible sample bias there (you meet everyone from your own country, but only worldly people from other countries).

Dude there are dumb people in every country, but not to this extreme, at least Ive never seen one on shows and certainly didnt meet any such people that made me want to shake them.

yea wtf, i've spent half my life in Europe and my feeling is that the girls in Europe are much smarter than the girls in the US but the guys in the US are much smarter than the guys in Europe.

There's this fort that overlooks the two rivers which cut through the capital city in serbia. It's literally the center of the country and if u look at a map of the country (one with a lot of nationalist sentiments) there are only 2 big rivers. They are huge in the local songs and literature but if i go up to people and ask them which river is which... pointing at the rivers,

half of them have no fucking clue (sometimes they guess right buvt it's obvious that they guessed so i tell them they're wrong and they don't question me)

and this is an educated city

shit i didn't know the English alphabet in order till 5th grade and i didn't know the months in order in English till i was in college (i forgot the first 2 languages i learned to read and write) and i had to force myself to learn them in college because shit like that is not useful and you wont learn it over time (ie u wont just pick it up, u have to sit down and memorize them). I'd never have learned them had i not decided to.

now that chick is obviously dumb but not because she doesn't know Budapest is. I think the landmass of hte US is bigger than that of europe. maybe the population too. In any event the situation is comparable to not knowing the capital of a US state. Well I'm american and I don't know half of the capitals probably. I don't get why people seem to constantly judge intelligence on the knowledge of geography. Sure, it's often about knowing stuff about others cultures, but you can be smart and completely uninterested in other countries culture. I'm not saying that's a great thing to be, but I can't see why it's become the norm for how to decide someones intelligence.

I sincerly doubt there's not some nobel prize winners who are clueless about said things.

And yeah, I'm hatin' 'cause I suck at geography, even though I even try to get better at it on my spare time (lol nerd)
