it's a steaming pile of crap and and a marketing scheme geared towards the insecure and desperate. the author of the book is a charlatan and i despise everyone who has 'the secret' as their philosophy of life, it's a pathetic rigid belief system like any religion and if you subscribe to its dogma you are cursed.

just the fact that they try to use quantum mechanics to prove its worth is laughable in itself. if the 'strategies' shown in 'the secret' is all we need for our desires to become true, why the fuck do people keep attending workshops and seminars about it and keep buying books about the law of attraction?

I told him i wanted to be a millionaire in like 10-20 years through poker and stock market maybe. And he said "Pff, you really gonna wait that long til ya got bling bling?" I didn't insult him and said nuthin. I mean, he is studying aviation and has worked as a taxi driver and he really thought that! I've had a lot of friends who subscribed to that ideology and being around them made me miserable. Because I was real (i.e; not always overly positive) and I was living my emotions, it was like I wasn't 'evolved' like them, since they were always positive no matter what! What idiocy. Having to deal with such pretentiousness without wanting to hurt anybody's feelings is the worst of things. It reminds me of this really lonely guy I used to be friends with on Facebook. He is obsessed with enlightenment and wants to become breatharian and mentioned having an IQ higher than Einstein's. Poor guy.

Like Baal said, fooling yourself whether it is one way or another is still fooling yourself. The dogmatic people not only end up hurting themselves but they also hurt others without even realizing it. It's disgusting.

But I do believe in always having a positive mental attitude despite negative circumstances.

There are always good things being created by negative circumstances, being aware of them is not using positive thinking, and is truly beneficial.

On the other hand, as an example, If someone is miserable in front of you, using your thoughts to remove that from your conscience by singing your favorite song and closing your eyes and not doing anything about the situation is foolish and that's the positive thinking being advocated in this piece of shit new age book.
