It comes down to insurance if one of the fire fighters were injured putting out the house that wasn't pay for, they wouldn't be covered since it wasn't an "on duty" call due to the guy not being a customer.

$75 a year is such a big deal for them - they are retards imho

I think all public services should be for profit only. Police, health, military, library, parks, highway, etc etc. Country would be much better if people simply donated to these services rather than being forced to pay.

I bet next year more people will pay that 75$ and in the long run perhaps more houses will be able to be saved because of this. (not saying that's the case, but often there's a backstory or side story with this like with the mcdonalds coffee lawsuit)
