I think the key is just staring at the chick in the middle when you get the inner two to overlap. It didn't work for me for a long time because I kept trying to actually focus on the middle one when it got there and it unfocused it for me. I ended up getting the three chick vision thing then just staring at the middle one and it cleared up on its own. btw, blinking doesn't affect it at all.
