They just didnt time it right. If done correctly each one will counter the other's pull and they will sling shot against each other in perpetual motion forever. However due to atmospheric drag and human imprecision you could only expect a good 3-5 counter bungee loops in a row.

I think if you spot the gorilla but you didn't count the passes correctly, you have ADD.
