lol ur joking right. You sound like a mate of mine who plays some real casual poker, but when he drunks and he's out he has a million stories for me, they're all the same.

I had [insert pair here] flop came [your pair] - x - x rainbow and someone ends up going allin, and I call and he outdraws me. did I do the right thing?

and it's like 20 times a night, esp considering he's playing like 10 dollar buyins or something.

poker is soooo much easier when you flop sets

wtf, fold flop, he´s going to suck out on you. Man you´re never going to be a winning player if you can´t get a read on what cards are going to come...

I am a NL25 player so take my advice/comments in that perspective

Seriously dude, I had the same leak as you. It's fine to play your hand and the board but if you don't factor in the cards that haven't been dealt yet you'll continue to get rivered. You need to stop thinking about it in terms of percentages and start getting some kind of insight on exactly which card will show. That way instead of getting it in on 80% and being rivered you can avoid these spots and also be the guy rivering. Tbh it's a pretty basic leak.

you should probably fold the flop, you have the best hand but it's too risky, do you really want to risk losing 2 buyins?

Getting sucked out on is really fun. At least you can destroy something in your room and justify that behaviour.

lol. anyways im moving down to nl 25 from now on and staying there for a while. That tilted me mainly because there were two deep stacks sitting and joking around raising reraising everyone (obv. they dropped down limits to fuck around). and after he hit that 4 outer he kept talking and talking shit.. but.. I think ive learned a lot in the past month. I wish i had poker tracker so i could see / and show you guys how im playing but.. once i double this roll up, ill buy it then i guess.

17.47 % was that the odds of him hitting that 4 outer ??

failsafe   United States. Apr 08 2008 22:33. Posts 1043

no, he hit the 4 outer, so the odds of it happening were 100%. it's pretty basic to probability that what happens is the only thing that could ever have happened, and so if some event occurs, the odds of it occurring were 100%. you just need more insight and more information, but if you keep practicing, you'll 'feel' and eventually understand when to fold even the best possible hand.
