shiiiit, better spell check this before i put it up for fetic's viewing pleasure!
lol fetic. throwing out the grammar bomb. ya, probably missed/added some commas or whatever.
fuuuuuck, that completely negates all of my (factual) evidence. shit, you owned me hard fetic. props
btw, maybe its cuz you're from UK, maybe you're stoned/drunk, or maybe you dont have a very thorough understanding of how NA uses the english language... but using the lame excuse of my 'horribly constructed sentences just makes you look like a dumbass :/ cuz for starters, although it definitely isn't thesis-material, it's far from bad. (ohhh man, i almost forgot to put a ' in between the 'it' and the 's'. shit)
also, wtf are you referring to the first amendment for? WTF. what does free speech/assembly/protests etc. have ANYTHING to do with ANYTHING i said.
theocracy? hahaha. yes fetic. I think USA is a theocracy. just because i say USA is retarded for allowing religion to have a large say regarding their politics, that makes them = iran. yes fetic, i think USA = Iran. (by the way, that was sarcasm. normally i dont feel the need to state the blatantly obvious.. but you never know)
i think during your exciting adventure of trying to act like a witty scholar, you've over-thought this one.
rewind? actually, dont bother. i dont think you have a very good comprehension of anything i'm saying. IE. "declining on the international scale? declining in what area? what international scale?" lol |
bravo =) I finally took the time to read all your posts and figure out what you guys were arguing about and I came out on your side of it. I agree that the USA is in a much worse position than 10 years ago in terms of international standing and overall strength. I think it's pretty ridiculous for 1 religion to have so much influence over the a govt that was created on the idea of separation of church and state and the freedom of all people to practice their own religion. If you say "all religions welcomed and respected" and then start trying to force everyone who joined up to follow the rules of 1 of those religions, it's a pretty big time cop out. |

okay, but you realise they remain the only superpower left in the world?

who exactly is trying to 'force everyone ... to follow the rules of 1 religion', because it certainly isn't the government.

Did I say that the USA was somehow the weakest country in the world or anything like that? I said it's WORSE OFF than it was 10 years ago. So while other countries have gone up, we've gone down, though we're pretty much still ahead. Just not as far as before. And one thing is for sure - international opinion of the USA is really bad right now, much worse than 10 years ago. that's different than how strong the USA is, so yes, it's still a super power but people think pretty lowly of it right now, where it used to be really highly regarded.

I think he was saying that some pro-life positions like abstinence instead of condoms were examples of hardcore religious beliefs being forced on people who didn't agree at all. |

Except these hardcore religious beliefs are ALSO the minority. That's not democratic.
And we have rules in our democracy SEPARATING church and state. Hence religious shit shouldn't be forced on other people. It's a democracy yes, but some things have already been set in stone in the constitution. |

| Hmm, I think china (aka. sleeping giant) is already the strongest superpower in the world. they're just very very quiet, dont cause much international attention. |
I can only assume you have never watched television or picked up a newspaper if you think China isn't the focus of international attention. 20 years of the most flagrant human rights violations on the planet tends to create a certain notoriety.

if the moral majority really was in the minority, speaking out against abstinence programs wouldn't be so dangerous for democrats. Sex in schools is a hot button just like flag burning. Democrats who speak out against these issues will appear to be representatives of the morally corrupt. If the majority of the country were really against abstinence only programs it wouldn't be an problem, would it? |

i don't. you win, game over. you take the cake home. Congratulations!!!!

haha, you'd be better off just substituting learning for arguing. arguing implies there's some kind of valid and informed opinion on both sides, otherwise it's either education or a waste of time |

1) china is definitely well known for it's human rights problems and shitty lead filled toys, but most people don't realize how strong the country is becoming. I'm more worried about china than the middle east, personally.
2) You seem to have it in your head that the majority of americans want abstinence only education. I find that idea to be pretty crazy but I don't have time to research it right now cause I gotta go to work. So do me a favor and find some evidence to back up your claim for once.
