Me blair and Ket all survived day 1A. I have 72k, blair has 56, Ket has 78?
Considering how soft main event is supposed to be I think I got kinda screwed with table draws. Steve was to my direct left for first two levels (pooruser). And we had a few online guys who weren't anything special but were far above average for this field. Also 1987 MAIN EVENT CHAMPION BARRY JOHNS(t?)ON!! |

So I played today too, and survived after some sick rollercoaster ride.
Got 17k going into Day 2. I'm pretty sure I've never had to fold so many big pairs preflop. (Tossed KK for a single raise vs a very obv AA, tossed JJ when I was down to 5100, tossed QQ vs a cold 4 bet from a nit, etc etc) |

Congrats Patrick, Ket, Blair, Dan, and Cosmo. gl in day 2. Also gl to Myth today and Frink & Nolan on Sunday and anyone else I missed.
My boy busted but may get a 6k+ pokerstars rebate for being on the second feature table to the right of Hoyt and Negreanu. I heckled DN for a bit after my friend took a pot off him - just to loosen the atmosphere up tbh. But DN was a total class act and after busting set under set signed autographs for railbirds for at least 15 minutes. He's most certainly great for the popularity of the game and tv ratings. My friend said Hoyt shot the shit with him all day and was one of the chillest guys. He also said he didn't think Hoyt had to show down once during the first 3 levels.
gl again to all. |

That sounds like something that would piss me off, sorry to hear that Ket.
Losing to aces when you have kings is one thing, but doing the whole counting thing then thinking about the call is dumb.
Shaking everyones hand except for his was a nice touch I think.

Busted .
Doubled up wtihout showdown within the first 10 hands of the day (once on a pretty big bluff, second time with the nuts when some rich moron put in 80% of his stack then folded to my river shove)
Then the big hand!
The guy who I doubled up off of (more or less) raise to 1.2k at 250/500 from utg. A really loose guy from London (who had a big stack but appeared to be rather good) flatted after some though in MP. I had KK on the cutoff and made it 6k total to go (I have a 60k stack at this point, UTG has ~27k). They both flat. Flop comes 246r, checks to me. I bet 10k and the UTG puts his remaining 12k in. The guy from London folds JJ face up (is that even legal) and I obviously call as I'm committed. 222 good. Pretty shitty way to get knocked down, but I still had 20k.
Unfortunately I had a bad run of cards and got re-stolen from twice and was eventually down to ~10k. The London guy I mentioned before made a cutoff raise and I "re-stole" with A4 suited to run into his TT and go unimproved. I think my resteal is pretty standard but I'm open to speculation (he raiesed 4xbb as his standard, so it seemed like a good spot assuming I have fold equity). I also hadn't shown down anything but KK, the nuts, or AK to this table so I thought that may help get some extra fold equity.
To my backers: Sorry I didn't bring home the big pay day. I really felt I played pretty close to my A-game throughout the entire tournament, and only made one real "mistake" early in Day 1 that I can think of. I know that sounds pretty arrogant but I think I'm fairly realistic about my play and feel confident and content in how I played. Thanks for having faith in me etc., I'll make sure to take it down next year.
Ket, Myth and others, you guys want to get a LP Bustout Failure home-game table running today or tomorrow at Caesars or something? Let me know.
Best of luck to everyone still in. |

bah.... last level of day 2 i get kings and open utg to 3600 at 600/1200/200a. i get 3bet to 10k by some old european guy. i ship it in for my remaining meagre 50k. old guy silently eyeballs my chips for a good 30s trying to count how much more it is. then he gives up and gets the dealer to do it, after the dealer gives him the count he starts slowly counting up the exact number of chips to make the call. i tell him, "if youre calling why dont you just say call and u can count the chips later if i win". he ignores me and continues counting up enough chips to exactly call my pf shove. after he finally does he then goes back into the tank for a bit before saying "I HAVE TO CALL" and putting the chips in to call. I turn over kings and he waits yet another 10s for good measure before TURNING OVER ACES. theres a crowd of ppl from other tables and live update reporters gathered around the table at this point and ppl are gasping in shock and disapproval. the dealer quickly puts out a bunch of low cards on the board and as soon as the river bricks the silent slowroller suddenly goes nuts and starts yelling in celebration at the top of his lungs while i just shake my head and stand up to leave. the old guy reaches across the table to shake my hand right after. obviously i refuse. instead i shake the hand of every other player at the table before i leave. a fitting end to a trainwreck negative six fig series. ket is sad

Lets give some support to my roommate Mike Blocksidge (aka goatzilla on stars). He's at 520k~
The Same in Any Language
With the action folded to Mike Blocksidge in the small blind, he moved all in with {Q-Hearts} {4-Spades} on a steal and Comuelo Navamo snap-called in the big blind with {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}.
The flop was {6-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {3-Spades}, but the {Q-Diamonds} fell on the turn, making Blocksidge two pair. The river was the {J-Hearts} and Navamo began muttering a trail of expletives in Spanish.
"Sorry," was all Blocksidge could offer as he dragged the pot.
He's also a nice guy :D

Mike Blocksidge Eliminated-- Kings, then Aces Cracked
Robert Ford and Mike Blocksidge got into a preflop raising war, Ford ending up all in with {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} vs. Blocksidge's {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs}. The flop was {9-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {3-Clubs}, the turn was the {3-Diamonds}, but the {A-Clubs} spiked on the river to snap off Blocksidge's kings. He was crippled to only 25,000 while Ford raked in the 980,000 pot.
On a subsequent hand, Blocksidge open-shoved for the rest of his chips and Brandon Becker called. Blocksidge held {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} to Becker's {J-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}. It just wasn't Blocksidge's day, as the flop came down {K-Clubs} {J-Spades} {8-Hearts}, Becker hitting two pair. The turn was the {4-Diamonds}, the river was the {10-Spades} and Blocksidge was eliminated. Becker is now up to 390,000.

Justin St. John Eliminated
There was already 130,000 in the pot prior to the flop and Justin St. John moved all in for his last 247,000 from the small blind. Chris Crilly called and it turned out that his still held the lead against Crilly's . The on the turn gave St. John a few more outs as a king on the river would've counterfeited Crilly's pair, but the fell on the river that brought an ended to Pittsburgher Justin St. John's Main Event run.
Jeff Masden, Hellmuth, Ramdin, Mark Vos, Tiffany Michelle, Sheikhan among some notables still in. |

damn, ul mcnasty, was rooting for u
and WOW the payouts are WAY more top-heavy than last year with WAY more money for final table. last year it was a smaller field and i came like 269th for 44k cash, mcnasty gets 147th in a bigger field and gets slightly less. |
