Living in a gun-free world is a great idea, but obv not realistic. All gun laws do is take the guns away from the good people. I want a gun so that if/when i get attacked i can defend my family/self. Think about it...Madman goes into Virginia Tech and kills 33 people...if someone has a pistol and kills him, maybe 3 people and him are shot and killed, and 30 lives are saved.

here is a very sad story about a lady whose family was murdered in a luby's restaurant a week after a bill was passed banning her from bringing a weapon into a restaurant type area.

criminals will always get guns. If they have a plan in there mind that says "i am going to go into this elementary school and kill as many 5-12 year olds as possible" they are not going to walk up to the sign saying "this is a gun free zone" and obey it. They are murders, they are not going to obey that sign. The only people who will are the already law abiding citizens.

The whole problem is that shit escaltes so fast in conflicts. Two guys get into a fight over something, one guy gets beaten up. The guy goes alittle crazy, and where as over here he might try to find something to hit the other guy with. Or do something else stupid. Over there the guns a nice and easy solution. How many times have you been attacked where you needed a gun for self-defense? How likely do you see this ever happening? And be honest with yourself. It's pretty easy to avoid violence. Plus you know you cant just whip out a pistol and shoot someone in a parking lot and walk away. You're going to be arrested, youre going to have to get a lawyer to justify your actions, the family of the deceased may press charges, etc etc. Plus you have to live with the knowledge and visual impact of seeing someone die by your hands, it's not all hollywood you know. Might seriously have a profound impact on you.

Finally, about this whole Vtech massacre nonsense. Ok, if the students, who all look like students, start shooting guns, who the fuck is going to know who the badguy is? What happens when the cops show up after catching word that 6 people have been shot by a crazed gunman, and then they roll up on some kid with a bookbag and a flannel shirt with jeans holding a .45? Oh, well he just looks safe, cant be HIM on the shooting spree, move along men! What if youre the student 2 rooms from where the shooting begins and you jump out to save the day, but the guy in room 4 also gets the same idea, and the two of you meet in the hallway. Neither are your enemy, but how do you know? All you know is some kid is shooting. The whole fucking building would turn into a shooting gallery. Not to mention the aspect of multiple firearms discharging in a room full of plaster walls is only going to send bullets into the next building hitting people who werent even in harms way.

Uhg, clearly you havent thought any of this through and only think about that 1% chance some black dude is gonna break into your white neighborhood at 2am and rape your girlfriend after slitting your throat. Which by the way, a pistol is the worst self defense mechanism for home. Get a shotgun.

Finally, if youre so worried about being attacked by someone else with a firearm, therefore need one yourself, wtf do you think is going to happen when your attacker see's you pulling a pistol on him and he already has one? You think hes just gonna go "oh shit" and drop it? Fuck no, you have no endangered his life, he is gonna kill your ass just to protect himself! Your possession of a firearm is only inviting someone to shoot you first! 90% of attacks against you are going to come by surprise, your attacker, especially one with a pistol, will most likely already have the jump on you.

if i lived in a gun friendly stats id definitely get one, for collectors purposes rather then actually using it.

think about it, laws that take guns away are only going to take guns away from the law abiding citizens, not criminals. They're criminals, they break the law all the time and don't give two shits. So if the criminals have the guns and the inocent guy leaving work doesn't, and it takes the cops 4 1/2 minutes to get there, and he doesn't have a chance to call them since he's being held at gun point... he's done. I want a gun to protect my family if needed.

I would rather have my fate decided by a jury of 12 than be buried by 6 of my friends.

And i've already decided that if its between my life and his, i'm going to use my weapon.

Plus, as a more important reason, the whole reason that the founding fathers of America (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson Benjamin Franklin etc etc...) put the 2nd amendment in our constitution anyway is because they knew that our government would become corrupt eventually and it would be up to the citizens to bring in a new democracy which my nation was founded. Thats already fucked though... if we had to have another revolution we'd be going up against the US army with shotguns... it's the united states fucking army... we have to have access to the same weapons if we were to have a chance at bringing in fresh democracy...

I'm not going to lie, i've never been outside of the US, but out of the 12 people that posted, only 4 were from the US... so maybe you guys live in perfect countries where crime doesn't happen...but i live in a part of town where crime is evident. It recently had a bunch of government apartments built and there are a bunch of drugs/guns/gangs in the area. Within the last 2 months, my friend who lives a tenth of a mile away has had his house broken into, his brother was shot at, his cousin's car was broken in while visiting, and within the last 2 years my truck has been broken into twice...
With all this shit going around, i think that a gun is +EL (expected longevity or life) since i want to live and have a wife and kids and shit like that.
