there has to be balance sure but he broke arguably the dumbest rule on pokerstars without even knowing it and you are in turn risking possibly his sponsorship and at least the 14k or whatever he won

He wasn't doing it "just for fun" he was doing it to gain an unfair advantage for very lil cost of EV (because someone has agreed to flip with him). I dont care if he is a nice person or not, and I don't believe he doesn't know the rule.

It is a very well known rule for MTT players, and he is a MTT pro for a long long time.

I really think that in poker, there are often so many times where the ethics of something get a little blurry, and often times people find themselves ignorant of such unethical (or maybe not unethical but against the rules in this situation) situations, where they are simply ignorant. But if we know a player has a good reputation in which case we figure we should give them a break and fair warning before going ahead and taking action against that person.

It sort of reminds me of the mezmerizeplz/adz shit on 2+2 where clay obviously at the time didn't understand what he was doing was unethical. Which pretty soon afterwards realized by himself "that was fucked" but people dont understand that they are like "oh shit hes coloring outside the lines, lynch the nigger". We need to be more responsible for each other as higher stakes players, where we have reputations and SERIOUS consequences that we can face when we are simply ignorant of a situation.

I myself have been in some spots like this, and i'm sure many people have. We just make mistakes sometimes, were human and im sure no one has ever read the entire terms of agreement of pokerstars or any other poker website. But when consequences for minuscule mistakes are so costly, we really need to help each other out and understand things.

and we are obviously friends with elky but everyone said this was total bullshit when imperium, annette, charder and a few others got temporary week or month long bans for it. basically every tournament player WISHES THIS WAS LEGAL because it increases your EV by so much. he is gaining no unfair edge. hes just being a sick degen and flushing money down the toilet trying to get a stack taking huge -ev spots to do so. but you report him because for whatever reason you want to see elky burn.

elky has a lot that he can lose over this, dont know why you would revel in being the one to report it.


edit: being 100% honest i would never ever ever ever ever report someone for breaking this "rule". i wouldnt even report people i dislike out of pure spite, and thats saying a lot. if anyone talked to mig nearly as much as i do they would be just as spiteful at the world and would love to spiteban people with these emails. even im not that evil, but i think mig is.


edit2: i have mixed feelings about them taking away elkys money/giving him a temporary ban from the site. on one side, i think it would be unfair to not do it after they already have to annette, imperium and charder. on the other hand, i think its a terrible rule and they should immediately change it because it just loosens tables up and makes things more profitable for the non degens, and also makes poker more fun during a rebuy hour.
