the KKK hates people from the north, so they dont like mccain or palin: they think they are too 'black and jew' friendly

also, comic jeffrey ross said it best about his name: his middle name is that of a dictator who murdered thousands of his own people. he should change his middle name.

he said its like having the name jeffrey hitler ross (he's jewish)

Who cares about his name i can't even think of a remote correlation between what you just said and Obama's personality ?

Barack comes from the arabic origin "Barakah" which means "Blessed" and Hussein (which is his middle name) means "Handsome one" or "good". His name comes from his african father and it's common to give a middle name for children that connects them to their father or grandfather. So Jeffrey Ross should stfu and you should stop pointing irrevelant facts imo.

haha chris, i think the appropriate question is not whether the average U.S. citizens knows much about canada. the question is "does the united states have an effect on ________?"
in the case where __________ is filled by any nation on earth, then the answer is unequivocally "yes."

um, most people i know in new england can definitely name every province, even labrador.

they can definitely tell you a lot about bloc quebecois and gilles duceppe.

however, i doubt many canadians are out there naming all 50 states.

actually, fun anti-canada story. i went to UNH obviously, and our hockey team is good because we import them all from Ontario. One day in a foreign relations class there were questions about Canadian parliament system, and some "freebies" about the capitals of certain provinces. The three canuck dudes actually had to cheat off me to get the capital of a few provinces, I thought that was pretty mindblowing.

People all over the world are paying attention to this election cause it affects them. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I'm glad that Canadians and Europeans and more are giving input and talking about this with me here in the blog and definitely want em to keep posting.

On that note I think Chris was just joking. It reminds me of when I repeat George Carlin lines to my GF and she looks at me like I'm an idiot - trying to retell a comedians joke often fails and that's what just happened for Chris, hehe. I do agree with Sheitan that who cares about his name, especially when you translate it and see what a very nice name it is. Ignorance has just lead people to look down on it or be scared of it. I think the fact that he DIDN'T change his name shows great character and bravery.

But I don't think the KKK hates palin cause she's from the north - she's not. The north is like NYC, not Alaska. I have no idea if they like her either and am not saying that, just don't think she falls into the category of "north" that southern racists hate.

Last I gotta say I agree with devon that not all McCain supporters are racists (just look at those supporters in the video who kicked out the crazy guy) but that there are still a decent # of them and they're making the GOP look very bad.

No one is after you for having a different viewpoint. It's just that you've made some very crazy or baseless statements and then defended em. It's like if I came in and said "22 is a much better hand than AA, EVERYBODY knows that" - people wouldn't bother to be nice to me, they'd either think I was trolling or that I was a complete moron.

Then I think your attempt at a joke fell flat. Hell in person it's hard to retell a comedians joke, but online without even having tone of voice it makes it really easy for shit to go wrong. It's a semi-funny joke but I think Sheitans right that it's stupid for Obama to change his name. He may have been a bit harsher on you than necessary, but you gotta realize that he probably didn't catch the tone of your joke and he also is viewing you as the guy who thinks that "22 owns AA" so he's already lost respect for ya.

Just think a bit more before posting (which would reduce the amount of triple posting you do) and be sure not to make baseless claims and no one will be on your case.

No its not. I don't know much about politics in Japan, Germany, or Greece. People know about the U.S. because it is in their newspapers and late night talk shows. What happens in the U.S. tends to have an effect on the global economy/stability of the world. The U.S. has a habit in involving itself in the affairs of other nations.

so just because 1/1000 americans is actually worldly (which is pretty embarassing really, to gloat that your nation is so closed-in, and uneducated about other nations besides your own) is a good reason to question someone elses interest in other foreign nations? you know, to educate themselves and get a somewhat firmer grasp on the issues facing today's world?

however, i strongly doubt that 1/1000 is even close to the actual number that knows something more than "USA USA USA!!!!". i would like to believe that a (diminishing) super-power of a nation isn't truly that ignorant and naive.

because if so.... wow

you ask why someone in canada is interested in america? umm, maybe because you're canada's primary trading partner? maybe because the goings-on of your economy affects ours big-time? maybe because as a genuine concerned person of this earth, I dont agree with how the states have been conducting themselves on the international scene for a long time now, and believe this may actually be a time of positive change?

mostly it's probably because I enjoy to look outside the window, and get a grasp of things that are going on. you know, somewhere *outside the box*

If you're making fun of U.S. citizens for not being "worldly enough" you might want to hold off on that. We know about the U.S. because they are in our news/media and for the above reasons that you mentioned. It doesn't make Canadians worldly we just know a little bit about a country ten times our size that has a huge effect on us/the rest of the world as you have stated. I would be willing to bet the average Canadian knows very little about world politics other than what happens in the United States. How much do you know about the various leaders in the middle east? Ireland? Germany? Anywhere other than the U.S. and the answer is probably not very much. There are a few exceptions in terms of U.K politics -- popularized by their association with the Bush administration (at least more recently) especially with Tony Blair or perhaps France/Russia but other than that pretty much zip.

Sorry dude he Jason Bourned me. -Johnny Drama
