You drastically a) undervalue your education and b) the difficulty of going back once you leave.

Let me clarify, I'm a huge fan of education. I'm actually back in college right now after graduating several years ago. I guess it's different for everyone, but it was quite easy for me to get back into the swing of things after a very long layoff. I also have met a bunch of late 20s, early-mid 30s folks in my anatomy and microbiology classes. Almost all of them are doing much better grade wise than the younger students.

So from my perspective, I see nothing wrong with a 20 y/o like JYang taking a year or so off from school to see exactly how much money he can make from focusing solely on poker/trading.

Yea, what school did you drop out of ?

The thing is that people who decide to go back to college do much better than those who just went there straight after high school. Motivation really comes in and the "face" issue, beacuse you can't be getting worse grades than youngsters unless you party all the time

I don't know you, but as someone who works in equities I can tell you can't ever get a job anywhere near any size pile of assets without a solid college track record. I would go back immediately if stock picking interests you as more than a personal hobby. If poker is what you want to do then go for it. GL.

Edit: Also kind of matters how good your school is. If you just dropped out of Harvard to play poker it's probably a bad idea, but (no offense) most schools that offer accounting majors probably aren't worth giving up 200k+ a year in poker earnings to attend. So this is probably a good move. Hope I don;t come off as rude; I though I could offer some insight into the hiring reqs at assets management shops.

ya my school isnt close to top notch

hm about working in equities. i have no clue about that but i wanted to trade instead. i dont process any fundamental information as i think those are discounted. i just pick stocks that gap if that makes it clear. if anything i would like to work in a prop trading firms

ya i know i probably wont get any job trying to pick stocks for someone else. i love been free and self employed and wont mind a little risk.

i do agree with others that its hard to come back though.
