I guess I gotta do a point by point
yes plz do, I'm trying to make sense of it all
1) you read too deeply into my downswing usage - just the word that came to mind for poker lingo relating to a recession. I wasn't thinking gov, I was thinking America.wait, what? I'm confused, aren't these two peas in a pod in the minds of most Obama lovers?
America was on a big heater in the 90's with the dot.com bubble, heater ended, re-heatered at some point, and now downswing. I'm thinking of this very generally and not in any depth what-so-ever, so don't try to read too deep =) no way...? really?? plz explain this to me like I'm a first grader because I am now reaaallly confused.
So when you say, "Obama just signed a new recovery/reinvestment bill for a bunch of money to try and get us outta this painful downswing." you are only thinking/referring to free markets and not in any way government? o.Oa ...
I don't think it's that I'm reading to deep, it's that I'm obviously not reading/seeing deep enough.
2) Spent - yeah, I believe in govt having a bigger role than you do. That's something we'll probably never talk each other down on.
yes, I do NOT think our Uncle Sam should become our Father Sam.
Our government should not ever equal or even worse replace family and/or businesses.
3) Fed - like I said, I agree with you, that would be impressive.
I like what ShaunR said, I will quote him. "Transparency" has very limited virtue if it's all smoke and mirrors."
4) Request emails - yeah I did think they'd stop or slow down DRAMATICALLY, especially cause I wasn't sure what they'd request. But I don't like the way "request emails" sounds, cause that's not what they are imo - they're more like calls to action. When he sent email out to everyone on the list asking them to organize service projects to help their communities, that's not a request email. He's not asking us to do something for him, but for ourselves and the people around us. He was challenging us to take more responsibility for our community and try to make it better. That's good leadership imo. Request emails sound like he's asking us for money or some shit. I don't think that's the case at all.
Maybe you should email them and tell them to change request emails to calls to action? hehe
It was just an innocent funny to me that you would think emails would stop, or even slow down; I mean given the fundamentals being battled here. The Democratic (and general Republicans of today) government is all about getting involved into EVERYTHING. In the end it will all come back to him. Even if you turn one person into a socialist (oops did I say that word?) democrat you are doing him a great great favor indeed. That war of demo vs repubs aside though, I'm all for bettering your community and ppl around you (even tho this does/should fall into Local Government not Federal)
5) How do you know how old I am?I sent you a PM asking you if you didn't mind telling me your age and you responded. Stalkkkerrrrr.... jkjk =) You're right - I am MUCH more educated about the bush years than before them. I never paid attention till then. It's cool cuz truth be known on my end even tho I may of been taking notes/partly observing what was going on politically for the last 20 years, it wasn't until recently that I woke up/gave a shit and fully saw the importance of the intertwining of politics into our everday life. At the very least you are at least trying to do what you think is right, so to me, there's hope yet. Partly cause I was way young, partly cause I was more into partying than studying. I have a very basic knowledge of stuff pre-bush. I know a lot about the bush years though. |
in a nutshell what I think is happening are the industries and corporations have gotten so incredibly powerful and massive that they are expanding/working on taking over/funding the government to gain an eventual total control of everything from the backseat. The government and corporations need to be put in their place by us the people, not the other way around. Crazy I know.
Just please, whatever u do k2, don't ever forget that feeling you had the day Obama got elected. Ever.
