Like a snowball ontop of a mountain, a ball is starting to roll. You may not know it yet, and while it may be a very small snowball right now, there are two very important things about this action: First, this snowball has been started correctly and it is thus inevitably heading in the right direction. Second, it is ontop of a very, very large mountain. It is the biggest mountain one could ever imagine created in the world.
In this analogy, the "snowball" that is starting ontop of the mountain was created and is credited thankfully to the ingenuousness of Dr. Ron Paul. I would highly recommend anyone that wants to make the USA a better place in any way to join in the direction of this snowball. It is the key.
To the people that would prefer not to help in physical action, then I'd recommend gaining awareness of this fundamentally and perhaps one day help in voice to the eventual coming avalanche. And at the very least if you have large sums of money or plan on ever obtaining such things in your life then you should definitely start paying attention. This will become worldwide.
What am I referring to exactly? The auditing and transparency of the Federal Reserve of course. It isn't you, the entity in your home that needs this auditing and transparency as much as it is the entity of government that has been behind the scenes in the last 9 decades in America. I must say, alot has happened in the last nine decades and this quiet mountain of government monetary policy needs to be looked at more and the Fed itself should become at least transparent and regulated.
As the government would tell you if you or your business got audited and you resisted, "What monetary actions is there for the Federal Reserve to hide that could possibly be good?"
It is my view that bipartisan support is the key to this as well as non-violence and that is growing substantially. I am fully aware of who I am and where I come from when I say that this is bar none the most important issue that is out there today in my country as the Federal Reserve ties and leads to everything. That is no small statement.
But don't take my word for it, get educated. Figure it out. Look things up on your own, ask questions, start the pressure on your peers and representatives.
There was a very good short and simple article as well as a discussion video that just came out on Yahoo Finance about the current direction and it is this that prompted me to make this thread here. Check it out here: http://finance.yahoo.com/tech-ticker/...s-Right-to-Audit-The-Federal-Reserve?
I'll help the discussion along with some videos, primarily Democrats I might add =)

Why should the Federal Reserve be audited?
The Senator finds out indeed what happens when you try to do it right + Show Spoiler +
I know this all gets very technical and I will try to keep it as simple as possible. What DeMint is referring to here is the Senates version of H.R. 1207. It is bill S. 604 and is called the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009.
S. 604 is the companion bill to HR 1207 and for those that have never heard of 1207, it is a bill currently in the House of Representatives sponsored by Rep Ron Paul that is aimed to primarily audit and bring light to the Federal Reserve. As of today H.R. 1207 now has 250 cosponsors.
250 cosponsors is amazing in itself really. However, what bill 1207 actually needs is 300 cosponsors as that would insure this bill will be allowed to be voted on even if it for some strange reason it comes under suspension. It is my view of things that with all these bailouts and stimulus bills being passed that everyone's Representative should be behind this to say the least. So for H.R. 1207 if you would like to see if the Representative of your district is in support of some REAL transparency then take a look on the list of cosponsors for 1207 I will post in this spoiler. + Show Spoiler +

--------------------------
The list goes on and on. I do not want to make this entry incredibly long so I will end this posting going away from current events and backwards to a little piece of history to show that this battle has been around for quite some time.
This is an excerpt of history in a speech from, "the Honorable Louis T. McFadden of Pennsylvania."
Congressman McFadden gave this speech in 1933 and I decided on his because to quote the article, "Mr. McFadden, due to his having served as Chairman of the Banking and Currency Committee for more than 10 years, was the best posted man on these matters in America and was in a position to speak with authority of the vast ramifications of this gigantic private credit monopoly. As Representative of a State which was among the first to declare its freedom from foreign money tyrants it is fitting that Pennsylvania, the cradle of liberty, be again given the credit for producing a son that was not afraid to hurl defiance in the face of the money-bund. Whereas Mr. McFadden was elected to the high office on both the Democratic and Republican tickets, there can be no accusation of partisanship lodged against him. Because these speeches are set out in full in the Congressional Record, they carry weight that no amount of condemnation on the part of private individuals could hope to carry."
So here is that excerpt:
The Scheme Of The Fed
"In 1913, before the Senate Banking and Currency Committee, Mr. Alexander Lassen made the following statement: 'The whole scheme of the Fed with its commercial paper is an impractical, cumbersome machinery- is simply a cover to secure the privilege of issuing money, and to evade payment of as much tax upon circulation as possible and then control the issue and maintain, instead of reducing interest rates. It will prove to the advantage of the few and the detriment of the people. It will mean continued shortage of actual money and further extension of credits, for when there is a shortage of money people have to borrow to their cost.' A few days before the Fed passed, Senator Root denounced the Fed as an outrage on our liberties. He predicted: 'Long before we wake up from our dream of prosperity through an inflated currency, our gold- which alone could have kept us from catastrophe- will have vanished and no rate of interest will tempt it to return.'
If ever a prophecy came true, that one did.
The Fed became law the day before Christmas Eve, in the year 1913, and shortly afterwards, the German International bankers, Kuhn, Loeb and Co. sent one of their partners here to run it.
The Fed Note is essentially unsound. It is the worst currency and the most dangerous that this Country has ever known."
holy fucking shit.... This video is outrageous, not only because the Federal Reserve has no supervision whatsoever but also the incompetence of this woman is astonishing, how on earth does somebody like that ends up in that high profile job? seriously she was like a deer caught in headlights.

As long as there is even a minuscule doubt about our economy's strength and/or vitality sweeping reform involving our money wont be touched by the vast majority of our elected individuals.

it was this
get it while it's hot =P
(nsfw obv) + Show Spoiler +
as for staying on topic ok I can do that
here's something ironic that happened and had me lmfao as I couldn't believe it
I made this thread right? Well shortly after doing that I decided to get something to eat. I then realized it was Wednesday and that meant one of the few shows I do try to watch regularly, "Freedom Watch w/ Judge Napolitano," had a new hour long episode come out. So in deciding to kill two birds with one stone I started watching it while eating (nomnomnom)
Even though I had made this post well after the show had actually come out, I had not seen it yet and had absolutely no idea that almost the entire first half of this weeks episode was going to revolve around the Federal Reserve and the current situation with it. It fits this thread and subject perfectly (well except boobies)
I was utterly amazed.
This week and last weeks show is imo some of the best ones yet. Though this week I got a really good laugh because sometimes ghey main stream media FOX will butt into the show and do a quick piece with the Judge. Well this week the powers that be decided this would be one of those weeks and so in part 4 they do interrupt this stream to get a segment in w/ the Judge..
Can you guess what the topic was and what the questions were related to as soon as MSM IMAGHEY FOX took over the show to do their segment?
I dont get it, isnt Fox supposed to be a neo-con network? why would they put those 2 heroes on air?

no but really, with the Judge and the direction Fox seems to be taking him I'm not really sure enough yet to garner a guess as to why but with Ron Paul I'd guess that it has more to do with demand and ratings and to at least portray at the lowest denominator of technically maintaining that "fair and balanced" image
man i had to jerk off like 3 times in a row cos whenever i went there were sexy time pictures.
I mean comeon, Federal Reserve?
If even in politics there are titties, i better start buying lube in bulk.
*wink wink*

Napolitano doesn't really fit with their standard neocon stuff, but has been an "advisor" type person to Fox for a while. I guess he somehow managed to convince them to let him do a show that he had mostly free reign over.

That woman puts me on tilt so much. U.S is retarded for having a private central bank. There were 2 public central banks but the last one went bankrupt before WWII.
I'm sorry for the americans that their governemnt is one of the most corrupted in the entire world.

The sad thing is most people in the US don't even realize the concept of what you mean by a central bank and the way we are brought up to be so instantly self serving and on the go it just seems like this should be a natural thing w/out much debate.

this fight is going to get big as fed is going to dig its heels in bigtime and never ever open its doors easily...
"Kohn warns Congress on meddling in Fed's affairs"
Fed Vice Chairman Donald Kohn
Testifying before a congressional panel, Kohn sought to beat back a proposed bill that would open the U.S. central bank's policy decisions to audits by a federal watchdog agency. More than half of the members of the U.S. House of Representatives have signed as co-sponsors of the measure.
The GAO is currently prohibited from auditing these areas. Kohn said removing this exclusion would be highly detrimental and could lead investors to worry that politics -- not economics -- would guide the Fed's decisions.
"The Federal Reserve strongly believes that removing the statutory limits on GAO audits of monetary policy matters would be contrary to the public interest by tending to undermine the independence and efficacy of monetary policy," Kohn said.
He also said it could "cast a chill" on monetary policy deliberations by making officials nervous that ideas they discuss behind closed doors could become public.
Paul denied his bill was about Fed independence. "We are not looking to the Congress to run monetary policy. We just want to know what's going on, and why," he told Kohn.
Kohn warned that congressional meddling in the Fed's affairs could threaten the United States' AAA credit rating and drive up interest rates.
"Any kind of hint that you are trying to take away Fed independence could be very counterproductive at this point in time," Bullard told Bloomberg television.

seriously think about the scope of this
if the Federal Reserve is completely and independently making secret transactions in the trillions and the people and Congress demand transparency... just imagine the possibilities and the degree the Fed will go to take our eye off the ball or make sure we never fully get there
the level is outstanding

bump for a few points (from least to greatest)
-In retrospect I'd like to change/tweak the point of me saying that this is an issue that becomes worldwide. The Federal Reserve is already indeed a worldwide affecting thing. But this issue is not worldwide in the sense that monetary policy and financial transactions are much preferred to be behind closed doors and not a public aware of or known type thing, and that is what I meant.
This is just a guess of course, but I believe at the rate everything is going this will hopefully become something everyone is aware of and gains knowledge of.
-For anyone that follows this issue even just a little, it is wise to always keep in mind that Bernanke's term of chairmanship ends or is up for renewal/replacement this January
Holy shit that video is even worse... the guy was fucking stuttering...

ok how to summarize real quick
When the FED even has the President in it's pocket it is not a real big surprise or prediction that H.R. 1207 will somehow fail when pushed through the legal processes
I mean who in Washington really wants transparency and accountability? come on now
You're definitely right in the sense that there is a big FUCK YOU there.. it just takes a little education, common sense and/or honesty to see it. That gutting attempt is only the beginning.
The powers that be do not want the public 'below' them to be well informed on things of real importance as they steadily rape the scene behind closed doors. This is often the natural principle applied to usage of power once gained.
As for Mel Watts attempted amendment, cliffnotes is that was met/debated/countered/defeated with the Paul/Grayson amendment.
Once the Paul/Grayson amendment replaced Watts, then H.R. 1207 was voted upon and passed 43-26 Here is a good article about it.
The list of Congressmen that were there that voted against it + Show Spoiler +
