With age comes perspective, and that is crucial when debating issues as grand as national politics. You simply have no idea what it was like during the Carter administration, or the Reagan years for that matter. You don't remember living in fear of imminent nuclear attack by (supposedly) our enemies the Soviet Union. In fact, you probably don't remember the Soviet Union. Yes age is very important, and it's not about being smart in the sense that you can calculate odds quickly in your head. We learn things through experience. Those who really know have done, and at 17, you haven't done much. You think you have, but you have no idea.
You tilted your cards and let the table see, and I doubt you have much credibility left to debate politics any further. |

I dont want to start some unfounded rumor. I suggested that you are likely 17 years old, maybe 18, simply due to the fact that you made a statement about starting your first semester towards pursuing a law degree. I guess you could be 42 and making a career change. I asked how old you were and you refuse to answer. Not quite sure what that means, but as you described is ultimately irrelevant. I dont really need to know your age to see that the sources you use and the arguments you present clearly show that you still have no idea what you are talking about I just figured your age was probably playing a large role in this, i.e. being young and ignorant and thus having fallen victim to one particular political viewpoint without really understanding it. |

um,
I don't know much about you specifically dude, so generally my comment was directed at the notion that age has nothing to do with knowledge, or to carry on credible debate. I think Newb was probably on the mark questioning your age, but if the post I read was edited prior to my seeing it and I am working on insufficient info, my bad. Those of us who were already adults when Mr. Clinton became president remember that today's debate happened then as well, and the result was failure. Despite a Dem in the WH, and control of both houses in Dem hands, their plan failed. And it failed because the Dems in congress aren't brave enough to make the tough decisions they are sent to Washington to make. Re-election is too important to them. And the lesson they learned from that debacle was that re-election was tough. Over reaching cost the Dems both houses in the next mid term elections, and while I don't think that will happen again, there is likely to be carnage.
Just a quick two cents on the 'health care debate'. The problem here is that the Left wants to enact a tax-and-spend package (their solution to everything is a tax-and-spend package) and the Right just wants to stop them (just stop them at all costs, no matter how stupid they look or sound doing it). Neither side has the balls to step up and get the job done.
The debate, right now, should be simply this . . .
Should the US government provide for the health care of it's citizens?
Unless and until that question is answered, the grossly expensive small tweaks that are currently being bantered about are pointless. If the answer is no, then that's it. Drop this waste of time and money and move on to other things. And if the answer is yes, the only way to do it is a single payer system.
If the Dems were serious, if they had balls, if they were smart, they would all be on that page, and they would get it done. They have the numbers and they should not be given a pass for not getting it done.

if u were generally speaking, maybe u could clarify this statement for me then?
"You tilted your cards and let the table see, and I doubt you have much credibility left to debate politics any further."
I need clarification because even after your last post I am still translating that statement as, "Because I think you are 17, all credibility of anything u say from here on out goes out the window."
I would really like to be wrong there and if I am don't read on curtin sea because I can't say enough how surprising this statement is coming from you.
To accept what I say based off of my age is like being able to only see 3 yards on the football field. But I guess meh, it is what it is
To completely assume one's experiences or perspective qualify or not based just on if they are either "15" or "32" is really arrogant and ignorant.
I am not saying nor implying anywhere that age has nothing to do with knowledge..
What I am saying is age does not automatically grant someone knowledge and people should not just accept or validate what someone says based off the speakers age
big difference
You say with age comes perspective
I say with experience comes better perspective
Why am I going on about making this silly point?
Because USUALLY experience and age are one in the same. But this is not always the case and this apparently has just been proven here
sometimes someone who is 17 can have many more experiences than a different 34 yr old
don't believe me?
go join the military or just try to imagine all the walks of life you'd meet if you did
or maybe just ask everyone you meet that is 30yrs old this, "Have you ever been punched in the nose?"
I think that is quite often a life changing perspective experience...
do you think everyone by the time they are 30 has experienced such a thing?
My bottom line is to assume one's experiences simply based off their age is arrogant and highly unintelligent
So with this attempted strategy, that your post is proof of it already being bitten into, that smearing, slanting or discrediting me because of age or voting record etc I won't allow to come into existence as those things do not ultimately matter and who really needs to know?
I'm not applying for anything here
take me with a grain of salt or not at all
that is your choice and I could care less
and because I take this line and say that, if anyone wants to continue to auto-assume a flaw in my perspective and/or discredit me or things I say based off that it's fine with me
My response is a polite, "you do me a favor, fuck off and have a nice day" =]
I don't pass all tests nor do I care to
it aint allll dat srs yo |

ah and on the health care bit you've definitely got the bottom line and I only wish on a national level the answer was/is that simple but it's not cuz the government is already involved and people are reliant
as soon as I start to answer that question I get sucked in everytime and unlike yesterday today I've got alot to do so I'm just gonna dodge and say I do not know all the answers and I agree with you everything u said |

I guess that part was directed at you, so I apparently believe you are young, not 17 but no more than 25 (wink). I understand your frustration with your age interfering with being taken seriously, as I gather you do from the stuff you've written in this blog post.
When you are older, you will look back and see how little you were aware of when you were young, how right the old people were, how everything your father told you was true. That doesn't mean you aren't smart now, but believe me when I say a little age will add to your knowledge.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy your posts on this site immensly, between you and tenbagger I am always entertained. I'm not trying to insult you at all.
