yeah i just got scammed,he just posted on the blog that he need 500 to ftp for stars,i obv send fim first cuz i'm stupid)
after an hour of waiting i just email to stars :

He had a 1k transfer blog post a while back but it seems that never happened and he hasn't played on Stars since July.

As a service to the LP community couldn't LP start up an account where both parties transfer to the LP account and then the LP account transfers to the respective parties, obviously automated but I don't know if thats possible. Or could 2-3 people be reps for the community and basically volunteer their time to do a few transfer swaps between certain times.

While its funny to see new levels of stupidty I find it disgraceful that these people are preying on others trust and getting away with it.

Also always do transfers in increments it takes a little bit longer but you won't get taken for as much. If the person wanting the transfer doesn't want to do it then forget about it. I don't care how much of a great "online friend" they are.

This sucks but I do remember reading something a few weeks ago saying that Pokerstars had introduced transfer limits, it was something like $200 per day unless you had it raised. Not looking good but hopefully it's something to do with that...

E-mail FTP support and they'll forward it to security. They should take the necessary procedures to contacting stars security. Make sure you have logged all conversations in the e-mail. When FTP says they can't do it, start cursing and threatening to leave for party or something. It worked for me on cake before, but I don't know if this will work on FTP, but it's worth a shot. I had this happen on cake before and I got the guy banned from the network.

automated things such as this only attract more scammers. this gets really nasty when people start laundering dirty money through this account.

exactly, there have been cases where Stars seize the funds because the money was obtained through card fraud and stuff.

I guess a raised level of awareness in the community is all that can be done about this issue then. Maybe have a stickied post in this forum with a few general guidelines to doing transfers. If smaller increments become a standard in this community then I'm sure it will save some people a few dollars a long the way. A stickied post might make someone go,"Hang on a sec that dude has 3 posts maybe I won't use them to transfer".

Before you do a trade try to do two things

1) Verify that the person you are transffering with is a winning poker player by inputting their screenname at http://www.pokertableratings.com

2) Try to find a person where the amount that you are trading is inconsequential to the stakes they are playing. For example, 500$ trade with someone that plays 200nl has a way higher success rate than trading 500$ with a guy that plays 25nl.

Follow those two steps and you should be okay.

Should compile a list of all the faggots like that, with name, adress, ip, so if anyone is around the neighboerhood, or goes on holliday, then reads on lp that they are close, people can feel free to go kick their ass n stuff.

There have been plenty of people with a decent or large post count who have scammed people here. tbc, darkxpert, logiabs to name a few. They all had one thing in common, they were losing players. Be sure that if you are xferring first, the person you are transferring with is a good poker player or is RL identiy is known in this community.

for the first time ever I think PTR is a legit use, trading with someone and looking up their name first is so +ev to find out if they winning or losing player.

Im already doing this on www.tlpoker.pl ( polish part of lp.net )

We have a trade/sell/buy thread with very specific rules and people with less then 200 posts are not even allowed to post there, under a thread of perma ban.
So far it's been working well, and I've been escrowing a LOT of transfers ( as small as 20$, and as big as 7,5k$ so far ) - I think it saved some people getting ripped off 3-4 times :D

BTW: As for Nadeem's situation I would wait for explanation on his side, as he is online at the site and active at same time.

I just woke up. I have send printscreens to pooruser and Mudd10 that confirm i have sent the money. I am indeed a losing player but I lose my own money. After half an hour yesterday the money still hadn't gone thru so I decided to get some sleep. I wake up and see this. I want to thank everyone for showing my personal information, commenting on my PTR while having no clue whats going on and judging me by someone who has 23 post. Player999, I can show proof that I have been scammed before( not here) so I think it's reasonable I don't feel comfortable sending first. I also knew Mudd10 had about 3.5k in his account. If my intention was to scam, i coulda easily asked for mor since he was very open to sending first. Mudd10 can also post messages of me sending to him that if he feels more comfortable sending 250 twice it's ok by me. For a forum and community who claims to be full of high intellectuals, this surprises me. Check out my posts and hands, and tell me if i look like a scammer to you.

So:

1. Nadeem sent the money.

2. 30 minutes later Stars hadn't approved it yet but considering there are some delays sometimes; he figured it would be done soon anyway so he went to sleep. Something I would've done too if I had stuff to do the next day.

3. Receiver immediately opens topic in massive panic-mode accusing him of scamming.

4. Nadeem redeems himself the next day showing that he did in fact send the money.

Next step...

5. Mudd10 gets banned? Tarnishing someone's reputation to the point where his personal information gets posted on the internet seems pretty awful to me. Give the guy some time to send the money wtf. It's like you wanted to get scammed so you could whine about it because you have some twisted kind of fetish for sympathy. =[.

Anyway Ive done tons of trades and I've never known stars to take this long(next day?) SO I would be emailing them asap because this is definitely not normal. FWIW I don't think you should have went to sleep mid trade especially when someone else sent to you. ok guys i just wake up,i still havent got the money i just emailed stars to see what happend..becouse yestarday i did 2 transfers with lachlan and the money arrived without problems.

I'm saying that he should say 'ok I'm going to sleep I will sort it out first thing in the morning' or whatever, not that he should sit there waiting for 4 hours.

Once I almost scammed Nolan for 50 USD or something (he bought 50% of my action in a bunch of donkaments and I forgot to play one despite him having sent the money beforehand etc). Obliviously I had no bad intent and paid him back asap when he sent me a PM pointing it out, but I sure would've been pissed if he made a topic in the forums stating that I was a scammer.

Now obviously this nadeem thingy isn't resolved yet, and he fucked up a bit more then me, but some people in this topic overreacts a fair bit. Just give him the benefit of doubt at least for a little while. After all, he's not a random.

I think you got it backwards, until intent is more obvious it remains a misunderstanding. You don't just call people scammers in the midst of them claiming they are trying to send the money.

I was under the impression by Nadeem's posts that he had sent the money but the transfer simply didn't go through due to some technical error by PS or some mistake by Nadeem. Not that he just left mid-transfer. :/

My main concern is that OP was very quick to call out scammer while it was just a few hours ago. Making a topic is not all bad but OP made it look like a clear cut case that Nadeem was running with the money. Apparently it wasn't as clear cut. Our integrity is pretty much all we have when it comes to poker communities like this. Once someone tarnishes someone's reputation by a topic like this, they'd better be sure about their shit.

The benefit of the doubt was given by agreeing to send first and waiting for a few hours plus messaging PS support. After that its logical to raise a very likely possibility that it was a scam so that other people could be aware of a potential risk. If it was a misunderstanding or he had his account hacked or whatever is always an option and it sucks to be accused for something you didnt do but I dont think OP was wrong to make this thread.

the transfer limit thing seems to be the most likely, since i think it's $200 for most people as the default unless u email them and ask for a raise.

but the fact that when he emailed Pstars about any pending transfers, they had nothing to report, that makes me a little worried. and also byrnesam's post about how nadeem was being over the top about defending his reputation, could be on to something

And even worse you just don't disapear without saying anything, you didn't just cost the guy these 500$ or whatever, but now hes tilted, maybe he didn't even played his own session because he needed that money or was too pissed to play etc

that wasn't the screenshot you sent me. you sent me a screenshot of pokerstars banning your account, and saying that they had given you partial access to it to cash it out. if you tried to transfer it instead, assuming that you did, it would probably raise flags and get held up.

dunno if this is stars' fault but the day i was doing transfers, i was getting the transfers reaaaaaaaallly slow.

I had something similar happen in the process of moving $250 with an LPer (not lachlan btw). I think it really was an honest mistake because of the PS transfer limit. But I sent 1st - $50 - I couldn't get get him to respond to my messages after I sent, then I saw him playing at nl200 with $50. I sat at his table and he wouldn't talk to me for like 5 minutes. He ended up apologizing for the mistake and sending me $60. But within like 2 days he turned $50 into ~$2k lol. You can imagine that I was getting worried at his table.....according to PTR he was running "104% looser than optimal."

Who goes to bed in the middle of a transfer without at least saying to the person "I'm going to bed, be back whenever". It's beyond stupid and I'm sure would cause most people to worry.

For everyone going on about smearing Nadeems reputation. This sort of thing can be sorted out and his reputation can be restored (if he is telling the truth). However he could of had like 5 other offers to do the same transfer with the intention of scamming them as well and due to this thread it could be avoided. He can get his rep back but they would never get their 500 each back.

assuming this is just a silly mixup (most likely scenario) with stars i don't think it was necessarily wrong for him to go to bed, i personally wouldn't think it was a big deal if i was in his shoes and i would just assume it's taking longer than usual. on the other hand, i also don't think op is in the wrong either...if he suspects scamming then he has a responsibility to let the community know as soon as possible so others don't get scammed by him as well.
