im not talking about torture but brainwashing, as you said. torture can be used to brainwash though.
i grant you your point is valid, no one could convince you to believe or disbelieve something you have in your head, right now.
but if you were strapped to a chair and had an I V inserted with a chemical that made you feel sick beyond measure and another that gave you pleasure beyond measure, and when you held to your belief you felt as sick as possible and when you gave in you were given pleasure, you would eventually break. there are plenty of methods for breaking someone and rebuilding them
torture just happens to be a useful way to break someone and integrate them.
to brainwash someone you must first break or destroy the foundation on which the belief is held, you must crush the will of the subject to the point it will accept whatever response generates the best result.
The Ludovico technique is completely fictional

That is what is true of how any fundamentalist religious person thinks, and what is the exact opposite of the way any scientist must think.
Scientists pride themselves in their ability to change their minds in light of adequately strong evidence. E.g. "What could disprove evolution? Rabbits in the pre-Cambrian." On the other hand, there is no pre-Cambrian bunny for a fundamentalist or indeed for most religious people. They will continue to believe no matter what counter evidence you supply; that is the very nature of faith, and apparently, the essence of the way you think.
I applaud you for recognizing that arguments from authority hold no weight. However, I think you have erred in (what I perceive as) your reactionary stance that every authority is telling you the opposite of the truth.
