Scientists pride themselves in their ability to change their minds in light of adequately strong evidence. E.g. "What could disprove evolution? Rabbits in the pre-Cambrian." On the other hand, there is no pre-Cambrian bunny for a fundamentalist or indeed for most religious people. They will continue to believe no matter what counter evidence you supply; that is the very nature of faith, and apparently, the essence of the way you think.

I applaud you for recognizing that arguments from authority hold no weight. However, I think you have erred in (what I perceive as) your reactionary stance that every authority is telling you the opposite of the truth.
