Coaching discussion on Myth - Page 22

for the record I've got 2 friends who have these long term coaching deal, they even made a business out of it, thing is they don't ask to be paid, they actually hire grinders, they coach them and they PAY THEM hourly so they can later on profit from their student's profit, dunno what's the percentage

one of the coach is "thenutspt" on stars, and they don't ask for any hourly... basically the students get 18$/hour, they get coached by good players and they're given a bankroll to start with

AND on top of all of this myth has set out to prove that he can! also the last part about "i should know some things about you that i don't". its funny u take this standpoint after knowing soooo much about us and saying it like its the word of god. kind of like how i "got a stake from peachy without having good results".. when my online results at the time were sooooo much better than they are now im not trying to start the whole loco/frinkx thing again and if theres more stuff to be said between us we'll pm each other, but this had more to do with myth but tied into the whole thing.

i don't think i've ever said that even once, i've only said that there was no evidence that you guys were beating it now, or that you've beat it in the past couple of years... i really don't know if you guys can beat midstakes or high stakes online right now so why the hell would i claim that you can't? ... like i said i'm happy that myth is stepping up.

i don't know THAT much about myth, i came off as knowing a lot about you because of me reading your recap recently like i've already stated in my PM to you. if i had known that much about myth already i would've been upset a long time ago and not just recently.

i also don't think i've ever said you got a stake from peachy without having good results. not in those words. i remember saying you couldn't win online anymore or bring yourself to win online anymore when you did get the stake and that's all, there's a difference.

here's what your argument revolves around. i'm not grouping his entire business "into that category" ... i'm only expressing my discontentment at what i believe is unethical about his past behavior and his business, which is NOT his profit-sharing deal, so even though that might be most of what myth is doing now (according to him) that doesn't excuse the rest or his past behavior.

this guy is STAKING and PAYING his own students a hourly for a long-term profit deal, and he's a steady winner. he also offers his students a place to grind and where they can also work out. how much better of a deal is that when compared to myth's? it's just ridiculous and also morally upstanding.

Coaches are a dime a dozen now. I don't see how anyone can charge anything over 100, or anything approaching 100 (unless they are world class players who teach high stakes). You can probably grab a thousand guys who beat 2/4+ to teach you fundamentals. I think it'd be more rare to find a guy who wins who wouldn't be willing to teach you if you are a nice guy.

Honestly, talking about poker is fun. Teaching someone, helping someone at, and making a new pal is fun. So its 0 variance money, while doing poker shit, w/ 0 stress. I'm sure almost all players who have played and were successful will coach someone if they are asked to.

I'd venture to guess that "thenutspt" and whoever else that uses this model is quite selective with who they choose. If they are investing time and paying the students $18 an hour to start and given a starting bankroll, the backer/coach clearly has expectations of the student's potential to be above a marginal winner at 1/2. Also, it is impossible to compare the two profit sharing plans without stating a percentage for thenutspt profit sharing agreement. For example, if the students had to give up 50% of future profits for an extended period of time, then it may actually be in the students interest to turn down the initial $18 an hour, put up their own initial bankroll and to choose myth's model of 25% of the first 40K in profit.

Nonetheless, it is probably that thenutspt model is better for the students than myth's but there may quite a few people that would not get accepted into thenutspt program while getting accepted and succeeding in myth's. My major point being that the fact that someone else may have a more selective and superior program does not automatically invalidate myth's. I do not know myth personally so there are no biases here. But I feel compelled to speak up and say that I think his profit sharing program is fair and not misleading or unethical.

I am genuinely surprised by the amount of idiots on LP who have no business sense whatsoever. Especially Loco and Steal City. How can you play the stakes that you do and have so little comprehension about what image is all about? 90% of what was posted here was total bullshit blown out of proportion. Maybe it's the superior genes, previous jobs I have had, or I'm simply one of the lucky few who doesn't have my head shoved so far up my ass that i don't have a fucking clue what's going on. It doesn't really matter what any body else writes on here, you cunts really just don't get it, nor will you ever get it.

No I think everyone gets the concept of supply and demand, business advertising, and perception. I think what many people who continually post about that stuff don't understand is that its an extremely rudimentary concept and everyone gets it. We all understand high school economics. No need to preach it like its some amazing new concept no one knows about.

Most people are going beyond the basic idea and stating that the demand is skewed because there is imperfect and possibly misleading information in the market. They're trying to correct the imperfect and misleading information and inform the consumer.
