baalim if i was going to be a dick, then you should ship me 1k until you go broke. Because you clearly stated in our terms: Su you have an unlimited bankroll. If you lose 1k, I will ship you 1k more.

in backing deals the stakee can at any time break the deal obviously, if you keep dumping thousands i can decide to stop giving you money, however as a staked you cannot end this deal when you want for obvious reasons, otherwise when you are in the + at buy-in #20 you will just call it off (as you fucking did) and i have a huge risk for very little return.
I had this deal with Strato, he paid it full.... i had this deal with Nazgul, i paid it full... however you asshole ran with my money like a fag, i let it go and now do this? you piece of shit. |

I robbed you? It's a staking deal, not a loan with 400% interest. |
As much as i hate baal and as much as i hate derailing an awesome thread. You are way way way in the wrong, and you should pay baal back what the agreement says the 20 buyins at w/e stake it was.

Last derail i promise. I had a best friend through out highschool yadda yadda, he was in a financial ditch so i offered to teach him poker, the deal was to make him 100k in a year with me covering his rent of the house we shared, we were on track making 12k in the first 2 months (first 2 months always hardest coz lower stakes) and he just pulled out after that, after i taught him how to beat 50nl/100nl from when he started on 10nl. He shipped me 10k and decided to quit, with his deal he still owed me like 25k or 20k im not sure since i was covering rent as well as 7days/24hour teaching...
I let him off coz he was one of my best mates in highschool, and he promised not to play on stars even if he ever got good. So i guess what ur going through isnt really much considering you probably didnt put in as much effort as i did making this guy good. |

If the deal was you pay him back his principle plus 50% of the profits and you did not pay him 50% when you ended Baal is in the right. Link to this deal please. What were the terms for ending it? |

He wasnt allowed to end it, and he knew it perfectly he claimed he was quitting poker forever... then i discovered he was playing again, he claimed it was only for fun, and even then i just told him that if he started playing 50nl or over, seriously he would then owe me the money, apparently he is playing again, and wont pay me, so yeah, he is a thief |

Well you had a very clear deal, that's for sure. How can you stake someone and NOT go into detail about options/obligations when either one quits...? Yea it's std stuff for people who have dealt with stakes before, but still..
As it is imo the responsibility of you (Baal) to make sure these circumstances are talked about BEFORE they occur, I really do think you should take some responsibilty here. Although you are completely right, you cannot and must not think that everyone in the poker world will understand these rules, especially people you stake for the micro/lowstakes...
So he's an ignorant thief (hope it's ignorance, don't know him) and you are... Baal!
You guys make me want to start @ poker again though, this poker world was such fun to be a part of! |

i dont get why royalsu is freaking out on baal? seems like baal did him a favor and royal broke the terms. i dont get why you would be displeased with him giving you advice royal. no matter with what attitude he says it in. he is giving you advice regardless of what motivations he has you should be thankful. |

This is my idea of a fair staking deal for ring games, based on a standard contract between a merchant adventurer and his patron.
75% of the profit goes to the staker with the stakee (player) getting 25% (+any rakeback as a living expense). The stake for both parties ends when the stakee has a bankroll of 5 times the stake. The stakee must be grinding seriously (=about 6 hours a day). If the stake is continued by both parties after 5 times the stake has been reached, profits are divided 50-50 there after to any agreed upon ending with the max staking time being a year. Royalsu appears to have cheated you; however the claim that he owes you 50% after he returned your money does not seem reasonable. I don't even see how he could think throwing you a bone when he ended it was in anyway fair, as the bulk of the profits should have been yours Baal. He was taking no risk at all. If the player was a proven winner over a large sample (a million hands) and was putting up at least 25% of the initial bankroll one could start with a 50-50 split. |

Solid random selection of "standards".

People who stake/get staked can ask for whatever they want. What is "fair" depends on so many factors, most notable the skill level of stakee, that it is impossible to set standards. Only thing that needs to be present in a staking deal is clarity concerning all possible outcomes of the stake. |
