Coaching discussion on Myth - Page 9

Indeed... there is nowhere near close to perfect knowledge in any consumer market and for consumers to discuss and compare different products is completely valid and worthwhile. The people getting overly defensive towards myth in here and questioning the validity of the thread are confusing consumers debating the merits of a product with haters throwing out personal attacks on myth. For example you don't see people posting in that Apple thread "hey fuck you man apple are free to charge whatever they want for macbooks and you should just keep your mouth shut about it".

Consumer discussion and expert opinions are clearly a healthy and positive thing to have out there. Think back to the last time you bought something expensive (and that's what we're talking about here, something expensive). Did you not shop around, do research and read reviews of different competing products before making a decision? When it comes to comparing the merits and prices of different coaches, threads like these would be a very valuable source for prospective consumers doing their research.

Here's a message to Myth (and mod friends), when you have a product out there available to the public, you have to accept that your product will rightfully come under public scrutiny and discussion. I raised these same concerns expressed in this thread about myth's coaching a few months back over in this old thread (although I do come off as pretty douchy reading it back LOL), and to my surprise that thread got insta-closed. Personally I would interpret that thread closure as a form of unrightful censorship of negative opinion, and when done on a neutral public forum by someone granted moderator status it's not even that much of a stretch to call it an abuse of mod powers. I guess that time you could argue was myth's own thread to close as he pleases, but for this thread to have been closed and allowed to remain closed would have been a censorship travesty. Props to Naz for reopening, let's have some free speech here wtf! Although i can see this getting closed again soon if all the posts continue to degenerate into off topic arguments.

Well its should be obvious that "shut up he can charges what he wants" you realize thats pretty much how every single scam woks right?

A guy with a crystal ball claims he has powers he charges you $100 per consult, thousands of morons claims the guy is a demi-god... so people here are just asking real results which speak 100 times more than biased testimonials because as i said, i can find thousands of testimonials that will say anything.

Wow impressed by Ket. Was certain his wall of text was going to be some form of "Myth is my friend and is better than you will ever be at poker, so stop talking plz." Actually turned out to be critical without being insulting.

Everyone saying that "this thread is stupid, this is an attack on Myth, there are countless nameless happy customers etc." are just avoiding the OP's questions. We are in a poker forum discussing a poker related topic. If we can't talk about Myth and his POKER coaching, what are we supposed to talk about? Table tennis and football? And so far there aren't any answers to any of the questions being asked just yet. 9 pages and... no answers.

Not that I hate Myth at all. I am a future potential customer for coaching services, and I have found this very informative (except for Loco and FrinkX personal attacks on each other's lifestyles and life views???).

a basketball coach has an excuse to not be able to play basketball as well as he teaches (physical inabilities etc.)

a starcraft pro or poker pro has no excuses to not be able to practice what they preach, unless they have 2 missing hands. If Myth is able to consistently beat 1-2, his results should be better. Plain as day.

Once again this is not a personal attack. I'm sure that 450k winnings IRL is a huge achievement, and Myth seems intelligent and knows the poker game well. We just all have to wait til he replies as to why his services would be worth $350 an hour instead of relying on his reputation.

i'd be up for a HU match for sure. The 10k hands at 1/2 sounds good. But I specialize in HU and playing online. It would determine nothing. I don't think myth's acceptance or refusal though to do a HU match should receive any criticism. I would object to it being made into or used for a video though.

well the refusal just cements the point of this thread and his integrity in question.

not true. I crush 5/10HU, Myth claims to be a good coach for mid stakes and I'm not sure if he even teaches HU and I assume he primarily teaches 6m

so i guess he sucks as a player but is a good coach then? that's fair to claim, i guess.

let it be known. HU challenge is not my idea. I'm not challenging him.

would like to give my thoughts and contribute to this pretty sic thread

o when i talked to myth about poker pre-CR "before he got famous" (around 2007 maybe), he was nice and open during poker discussion with me. i definitely learned some things during that period (and wish i worked a lot harder on my game, which could have included getting a coach)

o i perceive myth's reputation today as "powerful" (not necessarily poker-playing wise) - if I had to ask advice from someone, I'd probably end up messaging someone else due to fear of getting blown off. doesn't seem likely to get free advice any more when he's charging that amt / hour

o citizenwind, although his PTR is comparable to mine, counts as a success story and proves that myth has successful students. citizenwind is a CR constructor and my gf greatly enjoys his CR videos.

o I have a lot of respect for steal city (who I also have talked to before and is a standup guy) for creating this thread and putting this issue up for debate. imo it takes a lot of balls to throw this on LP and props to naz for allowing discussion
