preflop Makhija made it 6k and Helmuth cold called the 3bet with his fours.
Every time I think PH can't possibly play worse, he does the dumbest play to date |

Preflop is actually the most reasonable part of the hand, and its not as horrid as his call with A5 vs the lc from a few eps back imo. |

what did he do thats so bad? I didnt catch it
anyway i 100% understand u want to see good players but i see how being tight/loose matters especially for people on this forum
hellmuth is super loose but i dont think theres anything interesting about it... galfond on an old season of HSP was tight but i thought it was fun to watch
just my opinion but i think its a shame that even the best players on these shows are forced to play more loose and spew just because viewers think thats entertaining... i would had liked to see how they actually play when they're trying to maximise their win |

just cos helmuth made that move now some people think it's fishy. i think it's a great move. and by the turn helmuth put him on JJ - KK, (and maybe AA) for sure.
i mean what the fuck you gonna do if helmuth was bluffing, which is what he was trying to represent. and for sure helmuth knows everything but a straight checks behind here if he checks, so he donked.
edit: did he donk really quick at the river??? i think that move is brilliant. |

I don't think Phil Helmuth's 44 hand was as bad as his stupid A9o preflop call after the loose cannon 3 betted him. and then Phil H. goes off to donk a9o 3 streets against the cannon when the flop was dry King high. I was kind of raging inside when it showed that Phil rivered trip 9's, Phil really really really deserved to lose like 50k on that hand, + even more tilting when it wasn't long after Phil was bitching about that hand where his trip queens got out boated.
I use to cut Phil some slack just because some of the other pros talk about how he's one of the nicest guys off the table but c'mon, shits getting ridiculous. |

yeah sure... if durrr pulled a move like this it's brilliant. and if helmuth does it it's really bad.
edit: not that i like helmuth. in fact i think he acts like a little bitch at times. i just think some of the weird things he does are good, out of the box thinking. and how can one win 11 bracelets at the wsop if he's a fish. |

I agree,it's not wrong to assume that he'd get paid with a set,I was just correcting the ppl above me about preflop. What is horrendous is the rest of the hand and the reasoning he gave later.
It was along the lines of " I know he has something but I look so strong preflop and maybe I get the other guy to fold 99-1010 and then I should have bet turn and shoved any river but I didn't lol"
The A9 hand plan he had was also puzzling O_o |

then what do you think exactly was going on in phil helmuth's mind during the hand? i am also assuming phil does this as a bluff with a random hand on a board like that as well, that is why i think it's good. put yourself in his opponent's shoes and pretend you can't see helmuth's cards.
edit: i like digging my own grave... might as well dig deeper. |

you think hellmuth does this as a bluff? and what kind of bluff exactly are u thinking about? 66?
it probably wouldn't ever cross his mind, the guy is a terrible poker player
very fucking terrible, I could probably coach him and he'd get nowhere cuz he seems way too dumb to learn anything I could teach him |
oh ok i assumed he would do a crazy bluff like this. and yeah... something like a middle pair he turned into a bluff |

because there are so many fish in the poker community, there are gonna be peeps who think hellmuth is good. But anyone who has any sort of understanding of pre/post flop play or game theory/table dynamics will be able to deduce that hellmuth is a typical old school moron |

also when he explained his thought process he said something like "he has to fold 99 TT JJ but not queens kings or aces"
all these hands have pretty much the same value in this spot, it made 0 fucking sense, he's just trying to sound smart and he probably does sound smart to clueless amateurs watching TV |
