My name is (obviously )Petr Blaha. I'm playing (still? ) broodwar with nick bio.dante. I'm 18 years(12 January 19), have girlfirend and studying at gymnazium, next year I'll go to some college (with geography or psychology).

First time I saw poker on teamliquid.net (where I'm IP banned for no reason thx to Beyonder ) and thought that it is only lucky game for fools and Elky, but then my friends from clan started to play poker too so I tried it in January 06 and now for past 4 days my daily income is 100$ which is for me totally unbelievable.

I play poker for about 6+ hours a day

Hi I'm Luke, I'm 18 from Melbourne, Australia.

I sucked at starcraft and never played much, I played all races and all matchups and sometimes random.

I learned the rules of poker in early 2005 but because of high school I didn't play much until my final exams were about to start .
Anyway then I had to wait until high school finished until I started playing again so I've only been progressing properly in the past few months since mid november, which is when I started my current bankroll.

At the moment I play $50NL on partypoker under various handles and sometimes $10 MTTs. When I'm bored I fuck around with limit holdem, limit omaha and 7C.

My long term goal is to be a consistent winner at $400NL 9 tabling so I can earn some kind of income through university without having to get a "real job" (although I want to be a dealer at my local casino), if I get further than that I'll be happy but I'll see how it all goes. I hope to reach that goal by the end of 2006.

Thats not huge if hes playing $25NL, considering that he plays 6+ hours per day. If hes playing 5+ tables thats only a small upswing. You only need $200 or so to be semi safe at $25NL.

Of course this is all assumption he could be playing some other stake with 1 buyin.

Well I dont know, at partypoker its not that unsafe . All you have to do is avoid a bad streak, EASY!

Stygg   Sweden. Feb 01 2006 10:44. Posts 2347

My name is Aurelien, I'm 29 years old and live in Gothenburg/Sweden. I was (and still am) Stygg at teamliquid.net. You may or may not remember, but I made a post 6 months back at tl.net where I stated I was gonna quit my job and attempt to go pro.

Well, here I am, 6 months later, living as a pro, mostly grinding at the lower limits like NL$50/$100. Life as a poker pro is both good and bad, there's no denying that. Most months (barring the horrible October last year where I lost half my bankroll due to being a stupid cunt mostly) I will make at least 3x the money I did at my last job, as a warehouse manager of a bike distribution company. So, the money is good, the freedom is fantastic.. but what about the drawbacks?

Well, it's fucking lonely is what it is. Month 1 is ok, you're doing your thing and running good, so you say fuck the world, I'm doing my own thing and loving it. Month 2 is also good, but by now you start to realize that you no longer have as much in common with your friends anymore. Your biggest event of the day was an AA vs QQ all-in preflop, how the hell is anyone outside of poker going to relate to that. Still, you keep doing what you're doing because you really love it and the pros still outweigh the cons.. and month 3, 4 and 5 roll on in the same fashion. The $ are rolling in (December and January were fantastic) but by now you've become nothing more than a hermit. It's been 2 years since I had a steady relationship, and I gotta admit I really long for a girl to spend my time with. Rosey palm just doesn't cut it anymore even if I switch hands it gets tedious after a while.

Seriously though, I don't regret anything. I would make the same decision all over again if I had the chance. But I also have to find something else to do besides poker. As great as it is in many aspects, the drawbacks compared to living a 'normal' life can get to you.. I've complained about this before on other poker forums.. and while I'm doing my best to get out of the house more, it's not really as easy as you may think. Freedom is only true if you do something with it, otherwise it's a prison. I gotta find me a nice girl to settle down with.

PS. PinbaLL great to hear your bankroll is still alive and intact, feels really great to have helped someone along the way a little!

My name is Corwin. My best friend is Day[9]. Just kidding. He smells. We go to the same university and we both study tacos.

I <3 poker. 8 months ago I decided to play for money online. A few days later I decided I was good at it. After a month I decided I wasn't. After 2 more months I decided I was good again. 3 months later I decided I was a fish. In the last 2 months I've learned not to be such a fish anymore, but I'm still trying to get a solid roll together to move up to low-mid stakes (NL100-200).

If I had known a few simple things, especially about good bankroll management, when I first started, I would probably be trying to move into high-mid stakes now.

Usually I think poker is harder than life.

Hi im Marco.
I've played bw since 1998 and my nicknames were iD.Probe, iD.Rocklee, Princeofwgtour and nB)Oink.

I'm a student and I work partime as a croupier in Holland Casino, working a lot on the poker table as well. I've played a lot of offline with my friends. But besides that I'm not really experianced in poker. I know the basics and I have tried to play online once, but it wasn't a big succes. Offline I'm a tight player but I like to grap some blinds with bad cards as well. I have liked hold'em for over 3 years, but since 2 months i've studied 7 stud poker and to be honest I enjoy 7 stud more than hold'em.

Hullo, I'm Erwin.

Played BW since 1999, been to WCG 2004, and ended top 16 there. I didn't win anything noteworthy apart from WCG Netherlands in 2004. I've been in some clans I made myself with friends like beyonder/strafe/ret and others, mostly Dutch clans. Somewhere in between this and the next thing I was in Oem) which had a nice atmosphere, but lies about sponsorship and stuff. I also joined some Drone Pro team, which also failed to deliver the sponsorship. Anon and Raven were in that clan too. After that raszi helped me get into iD., where I stayed for about 1,5 years. After WCG2004 I joined ToT mainly because iD wasn't as fun anymore as it used to be, and because I made lots of great friends in ToT (mondi, enigma etc.). Strafe was also already in ToT so that was a plus too. I joined together with MidiaN, who tagged along with me .

I developed interest in poker at WCG 2004, when I saw nazgul and elky playing this game of poker. I didn't understand the rules, and I only played a few 3 player sit n go's, where we used gumballs as chips (we had like 3 boxes full of those, like 1000 chewing gums - insane). I didn't start playing then though, it was after ECG 2005. At ECG 2005 me and mondi were the only guys in the hotel then, but then enigma and strafe came to Hannover in Germany and Strafe had a chipset which he brought along. They stayed in the Marriot hotel and we played a lot of poker in the evenings (like 2€ SNG's). I kind of learned the rules then , and I decided to give online poker a try. I'm pretty cautious with my money so I only got like 10$ from Strafe which I paid him back via bank transfer. I never busted with my first 10$ though, as I was playing 2c/4c limit to build a roll. After a month of limit or so, I decided to play some NL. NL got my real interest, and after a lot of grinding I managed to go up stakes after a while. All in all I've played maybe a total of 7 months now, and I'm currently on a 4.2k bankroll (3300 on PS, 900 on PP), having cashed out around ~1400$ in total. Right now I'm playing 8 tables 100NL SH on PS, aiming for 200NL whenever I reach 4,5k bankroll on PS again.

I still play the odd game of BW here and there, nothing serious, just racewars or UMS. This coming Sunday there's a LAN tournament in Holland where I'm going, to see some friends and have fun. Maybe if there's a WCG for us this year I'll play some again to get back 'in shape'. BW is just not fun for me atm.

Hi I'm FrinkX.
on bnet i've used NeO)Janne and MgZ)Janne also

Played BW since 1999 or something, never really did much at WCG, didn't go last year. I still play but not that much, just for fun. Been at TL.net for a long time but realized for the last year or so I have only gone there for poker stuff.

I got interested in poker in the summer of 2004, played a lot with friends and decided to give online poker a try. I lost $800 at first (only having like $1500 or something to my name). My dad found out and I had to quit for a while. My friend transferred me 50 cents and i built it up really quickly, started playing MTTs and quit my summer job and won like 10k that summer. Then I didn't play much during the next year, won only one or two tournaments, busy with college. I ended up losing some back and spending the rest on a lot of different things and had no money left again. That summer I wanted to go to Europe, already had plane tickets but no spending money so I got $50 to $3k in a month, and quit for a while again.

Came back from Europe broke again, starting my second year at college. built my money up and won a bunch of MTTs, won about 11k from tournies my first quarter (quarter system at my school). I've switched to 1/2 9-handed and 2/4 6-handed ring games, cashed a good amount out, but recently stopping that after going on a terrible run. Now I'm getting staked in any MTTs on stars and 3/6 or 5/10 NL games, starting next week

Nojo   United States. Feb 01 2006 13:36. Posts 432

hey, im Noah Johnson, aka Nojo . Im 19, in the United States Army as Infantry(i shoot guns) and my girlfriend supports my poker Im an online gamer... to best describe myself. Iv been playing games online since AOL came out with stupid shit in 97, then i moved to WebTV where i discovered Chat Room RPGs... which i did like it was crack. Then i got my first real computer and did AoE like that was crack right into AoK. I got away from real time strat games after AoK tho and discovered First Person Shooters like Americas Army and CS and UT n such. The I joined the Army and games went away for awhile. In the Army poker was often played at some guys house so i of course having once played for play money on PS and having watched many of tourneys on TV did my buy-in for $20. The first time i played live, i was a total fish. I had the guys giving me hints teaching me how to shuffle and the general idea of which hands are better. That was 7 months ago. For about 5 months i cleaned house winning about 80% of the games i went to on the weekend. For this i decided i was decent at poker and could take the fish that invite me to their weekend games. And then here recently i was missing the thrill of winning and wanted to get back into it. So instead of just capping out and always winning the live hometown games i decided to try and build my skill. What better place than Pokerstars which was the birth place of my poker playing back when i first did play money there. I bought in for 100 dollars the first time. That quickly went out the window as i had no idea about BR management. Bought back in but this time for 60 dollars. I hit lucky a couple of times and got up to about 200 then wasted it away till i was back to around 60. Then i decided i was better than this and started reading. I read online articles, forums, and Winning Texas Holdem. Once i thought i had a firm grasp at what i was doing wrong and came back, and started playing 25NL NL with my 60, i know proper BR management would have been to play 5NL or 10NL but, i knew what i had to do and i quickly turned my BR into 400. From there i got BR happy and sat down at a 200NL table for some reason, i think i was bored grinding. I doubled up once and was looking at my nice BR of 650. Thats where i now stand and iv decided to play some sng at around 15 buyin or lower for awhile. I get more poker and more expience out of them i think, plus winning 100 for your 15 aint bad

Im still a fish, but im learning. I think that the hardest thing for me to grasp is BR management right now, as im always wanting to go and put like 1/4 of my BR on the line.

i live for this shit
