"The End Game"
Don't think I have time for poker anymore (these Chinese kids in HK study too much and the bell shaped grading system is annoying). Time to throw all my time and energy into Trading/Investment Banking. Plus I have other opprutunities that I can maximise.
I have barely played in the last 12 months probably 150 hours.
It was always a means to an end.
Had so much fun though while I could enjoy it with some insane out of the world swings.
The best pocket money in the world.

Sooner or later you'll be at the point where your hypothetical daily poker winnings would be trumped by the daily swings in your investment portfolio |

Glad you have direction past poker, I'm currently working on that myself. You think you can write up a big poker autobiographical some time? I'd love to read it, about what you think you acquired from it both monetarily and mentally, etc. |

Good to hear you are taking this road! I'm sure if you handle your studies with the same dilligence as you did with poker, you'll kick ass!

Smart. I basically spent past three years forced to play poker to feed a family while having to endure the same bell curve. The result? Mediocre results on both. It is smart to simply choose one and devote to it. |

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same | |

Actually some study's are pretty intense and I can assure you you won't have much time on your hands once you enter senior years. Unless you always play poker in your free time, which well, gives you no life..... You can always put in some number of hands but in the end I think poker takes at least like 40-50k hands a month to maintain focus/skills/profits. Atm i have time for like 20-25k hands a month, Big swing can bring you 4 months of bullshit income. I can pay study with poker i'm happy, but to get rich from it is pretty hard. |

I guess you can also stop/slow down poker cause you are getting bored of it, you don't have the thrill you used to have...
And what most would agree on this forum, is that Fazi seems to be a nice funny guy while you are not seen like that here. He succeeded where you failed.
It was nice to read your blog. gl |

i have to disagree with you here Ket.
It is much much harder to be a high stakes winning player than is to get a degree, everybody gets a fucking degree ffs, unless you are a certified moron all u need to do is warm ur seat and dont be huge idiots and thats it.
I didnt graduate but i studied 2 years of mechanical engineering and it was stupidly easy not remotely as challenging as poker has been in every way.
So many of my friends graduated and now have fucking master degrees and i am 100% certain they wouldnt be successful at poker.
PS: before somebody brings the "lol mexico" card, my friends have master degrees in european universities |

Yes Baal I am sure it is "stupidly easily" to attain a 1st from a top university in a difficult subject. Competing against a class-full of hard working straight A students for 3-4 years is a cake walk.
They're different skillsets required anyway it's like comparing juggling to riding a unicycle and saying one is 'easier' than the other. They also both require different types of intelligence - I assume you are smart enough to be aware of such a concept beyond the inherently vague term 'intelligence'.
Regards. |

No university in HK is a top university and it is far from a difficult course stop exaggerating. Actually they are similar skill sets except poker goes one level further and requires psychology emotional toughness instead of just dedication hardwork and a competitive nature. |

This is pretty pathetic. When a member of the community leaves, the least you can do is say "good luck" if you're going to post here.
And on that note, good luck to your studies, don't listen to the naysayers. Do what you think is best for yourself. |

Being in a top university isn't exactly equivalent to having a tougher time than in a somewhat less famous university.
Also: I agree with Baal, getting a degree isn't that hard.
I'm trying to get back into poker, but it's gotten way tougher and I don't know if I still have the energy for it. Oh well, wish you good luck studying |
