See, I have this picture in my head. Me sitting at the big table, Doyle to my left, Amarillo Slim to my right, playing in the World Series of Poker. Playing nosebleeds online. Sitting at the bellagio grinding 25/50. Yeah it's one table, but I love it. I like this game. And I can envision the things I would spend my money on, and it's not sports cars and watches or other impulsive shit....

no offence but you seem wildly disillusioned with the joys of a materialistic lifestyle and what it would bring. I understand that people want something 'else' from poker or than poker... but that feeling exists in everybody and every profession. Famous comedy actors wish they could be serious drama actors and drama actors wish they could be politicians who make a difference instead of just telling a story and politicians realize they can't make a difference (or uncertain if they've made the right differences) and wish they were actors. Poker has given me so much free time that I have been able to pursue those other things that i want from life. Of course, as is the human condition, I can never be fully satisfied. You need to learn to be okay with that.

Yup the best thing about poker is definitely the freedom to set your own rules and guidelines.

If money were the objective, it's still hard to beat hardcore studying -> top school -> investment banking. But that life will all but ensure that you have little to no freedom or choice in the way you structure your life.

Ed you always had MUCH more motivation to learn the ins and outs of ecommerce and online marketing since we first started talking business. I still can't see myself departing from the more traditional forms of business, but it's been fun talking with you over the last year+. Good luck

Cute edit. What I mean is, I dont think people aim high enough. I see people talk all the time about reaching NL200-NL400 as if it's the holy grail, when it's still considered SMALL stakes by the poker community at large. Hell even TL.net categorizes NL400 as middle stakes. As if 10/20 or 50/100 are simply unattainable. Setting the bar low like this holds people back imo, and this can be applied to life in general. I know people who's dream it was to graduate college, get a 9-5 job, and have a kid. How pathetic is that? Werent your schools littered with motivational posters? "Aim high" and shit? Since when did buying a house in the suburbs, taking the kids to soccer practice, and watching the evening news become the american dream? Ah I could go on for hours, but I digress.... I will never quit poker. If you hit NL100 and feel complete, then I feel sorry for you.

bye now

No offence obv, but wtf mate! I have no idea what you wrote had anything to do with anything. What you think is pathetic is by other people sound attainable goals, and what you see as good goals to reach for are considered delusional by others. Not everyone CAN play nosebleeds, even if they wanted to. To realise your limits is a strength.

Anyway, gl hf with your projects edzwoo! Judging from your post you never really enjoyed poker like some people do (mostly people how have an easy time getting obsessed with things), and either way its good to have something more than poker. I'm just finishing law studies myself, so I already got my plan for fading out of poker. It is something most people will have to deal with, and also good to be able to always play poker for the extra income and not to be able to pay the bills.

+1 on wanting the links to your sites.

Jason and I have really sick things we can do with more capital, the only problem is we need warehousing space. Maybe if people are interested we'll have some sort of investment thing with ROIs in the future.

well some people just don't have the talent/intelligence/emotional control to successfully beat anything above like 2/4

so even if they would "aim" higher it would be kind of pointless, not saying you won't make it, just that you have to consider it a possibility
