Probably gonna chill for a while and come back for a match against Khabib or Ferguson to bank a few milly, but it's been expected that he wont bother competing at the same level... he made way too much money to willfully get hit in the face
Dana White confirms Covington vs Usman is in the making
Pettis will most likely get the winner for Gathje/Barboza

as usual, money is the worst enemy for a fighter, what a treat it would have been to see connor fight 3 times a year in different divisions v.v
Eddie Alvarez fought a Russian juicehead at ONE Championship and got KTFO. Poor Eddie still brought his screaming wife to Asia, you could still hear her screaming from the audience lol

Wouldn't understand any motive for it being fixed. Doesn't serve the organization any purpose to have their newly high paid signing to lose right away. There's the case to be made that having your stable of fighters show that the gap between them and UFC fighters isn't as large as thought to be is a great thing. But just getting trucked like that? That can't be the way. DJ's fight was probably what was an optimal case for ONE. Showing that the fighter you already had can threaten and put up a fight even against the best the UFC had to offer but having that UFC fighter show why he was there in the first place and still keep the brand name's record/reputation intact so that paying them what they're paying them still makes sense moving forward
-700 to -350 is pretty big but when the odds are that stacked at like -700 or more, I don't think it's an absolute rarity that money has come in big on a pretty unknown dog late. I'm positive I've seen several lines move late from -700-800 to about -450-500 before. Think this fight was just a combination of Eddie declining, seemingly fighting a bigger guy maybe due to different weigh in rules and well, for real...that guy looked juicy as fuck
I honestly think I would have faded Eddie if I had remembered this card w/o even knowing the other guy if I knew Eddie was -700. Had been fading him for awhile actually, since Conor, expecting his decline to come even sooner. Guy is 35, started real young, his Bellator opponents were actually all pretty legit, and he only faced the best in the UFC where the only fight he didn't take punishment is his title win over RDA. I guess against Pettis too. Definitely a strong candidate for someone who may take a harsh and sudden nosedive in performances moving forward
as if an organization would be fixing the fight, not a(the) fighter(s)
that being said Eddie Alvarez is not really as good as his resume shows him to be, it's just a combination of luck and timing (e.g. he should've lost all 3 of his first 3 fights in the UFC instead of losing 1 and winning 2 by split decision, which would've resulted in him being booted off)

-700 to -350 in a 3 hour time period is sketchy as fuck.
I'll stick to my original theory of the fight being fixed somehow, or that there was some kind of inside information that was leaked shortly before fight time.

I'm not going to just categorize Eddie as lucky even if I've been consistently fading him. Yea probably a bit overrated from his Bellator run, but it really wasn't just a can smashing Bellator run. He smashed RDA right after RDA had smashed Cerrone and Pettis. Have to give him credit there because it's not like he's just some terrible match up for RDA. Also managed to somehow outlast Gaethje, and we've seen what Gaethje can do. Maybe you could say luck at the end there because he easily could've been the one KO'd but not many are capable of extending Gaethje to afford the opportunity for that to happen late. It's just that again, he's been fighting since he was like 18 then faced a murderer's row in his 30s in the UFC where he took a ton of damage, even in his win vs Gaethje. Decline was/is inevitable esp given that his style isn't conducive to aging well
And ok -700 to -350 in just 3 hours is sketchy. But I've definitely seen movement somewhat close to it over the day before the fight. If anything, I'd guess the latter in that some inside information was leaked
Would never believe the fighters fixing it. Not even going to give that any more thought/explanation

RDA passed out like 3 hours ago before the fight against Eddie

Yeah not saying he is a terrible fighter, just that he s mediocre at best compared top tier people. You could instantly see that against McGregor, who exposed him hard, and McGregor usually performs terribly against wrestlers e.g. Mendes gave him hell before running out of air which was to be expected with a 1-week camp or w/e it was and Khabib obviously just wiped the floor with him. while Alvarez just got absolutely destroyed in every aspect

This beef is going nuclear. But yea good to see Khabib's 'noble' ass encouraging mortal violence from fanatics over offensive religious insults. Not a problem since the beginning of time or anything
The thing is Khabib is raised up believing Respect is the most important thing in the world and that whoever doesn't honor other people should suffer....and McGregor doesn't give a fuck about anyone outside his camp :D

I'm not even worried about what Khabib will do to Conor -- it's the religious freaks who follow Khabib and what he stands for, is what I worry about, as taking the life of a famous shit talker who is making fun of a certain religion wouldn't be something out of the ordinary. The killer would be famous in certain parts of the world.
I was thinking the same thing, except the fuss over this will be forgotten in a week, Ireland has virtually no Muslim population afaik and I suppose he is surrounded by guards anywhere he goes, otherwise he d have no peace
Generally a dumb idea though, cause indeed someone might suicide into him just for the praise and glory

Khabib's sense of respect is as tainted as his dumbass interpretation of his religion. Wish Conor had left up the wedding picture and current day media wasn't so sensitive. What's worse? Making fun of a man having his wife presented with an entire fucking sack over her entire body on her wedding day...or the actual oppression?
