Really sucks for all the other guys on the card that trained their asses off for their fights.

We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men.

its kind of silly that sonnen's next fight after losing a fight for the belt would be a fight for another belt in a different division tho

His name on a card = huge income - he's a master of hype...

yeah, just saying from the perspective of the semi-ladder that they typically appear to organize fighters into when matchmaking and choosing who gets title shots (which is a big deal)

randomly having sonnen vs jones would really make the system look arbitrary (well not arbitrary, but completely based on the UFC's own financial considerations rather than the spirit of fair competition) and unfair to the fighters

It seems to be getting a pass from the fan base and fighters so far, since it was an 'emergency' match up and all

its not random --- sonnen apparently is the only one who accepted

machida didn't accept and we don't know who else got offered before sonnen

all in all i think sonnen had a better shot at it than hendo did

well this is too many PPVs argument again. they spread themselves too thin and they have a thin roster to work with. i dont blame jon jones at all for not taking the fight, still he is kind of a hypocrite since he did get his shot at shogun waaaay prematurely as well. i guess Nike deal is too sweet to gamble vs a loudmouth shit talker.

Jon Jones is a vagina for this, all the factors are in his favor and he could have saved the card and taken down a shit-talker (who I like)

It's the UFCs fault for making such weak cards that something like this could completely cancel the who event.

I agree completely but I still think JJ is being a total bitch.

Lol fighting a very confident Machida is way riskier than Sonnen, possibly even more money. I think he just forgot he's not a boxer and thought he was going to "mayweather" his career - ana owns your ass sorry.

Dana played the game really well making it look like it's JJ fault that the card got fucked up. It's UFC's problem after all, not JJ.

I don't like JJ and no one should be forced to take a fight on short notice, especially a title fight.

Now everyone is pissed at JJ even though it's not his fault Hendo can't fight.

not saying Jones is the only responsable obv, hell probably White wanted to teach him a lesson and decided to take the financial hit just to show Jones how easily he can fall from the grace of the crowd, and i am with him.

Seriously dodge an unprepared 185lb wrestler coming out of a loss because you arent reaching the PPV numbers you want?

Fuck Jon Jones, fuck Anderson Silva, fuck Greg Jackson and all the other greedy faggots who corrupt this sport

All hail to the true champion, the chubby midget who trained in his backyard playground fighting two weight classes above his own and kicking asses everywhere.

Jones:
Height 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m)
Weight 205 lb (93 kg)
Reach 84.5 in (215 cm)

Sonnen:
Height 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m)
Weight 185.5 lb (84 kg)
Reach 74 in (188 cm)

Oh yeah UFC totally threw him under the bus on this one LOL.... oh and yeah, 8 days notice is a big deal, but only for the guy who has 8 days to prepare, not for the one already scheduled to fight that day.

It doesn't matter if Sonnen is ready or not, JJ should think about his preparation, not Sonnen's.
If he doesn't think he is ready, he shoudn't take the fight.

I agree 100% with Jones and i don't even like him.

I wouldn't take the fight in his place either.
He just refused to get bullied by Dana like 99% of the UFC fighters.
Remember Condit giving up his title fight vs. GSP so Diaz could take it? lol

When you are that good, you don't have to what you don't wanna do.

It's like F1 these days when Massa and Barrichelo had to let Alonso and Schumacher pass cause they can't do anything about it.
Do you think Senna would ever agree with this shit?

NMcNasty    United States. Aug 24 2012 00:16. Posts 2039

JJ is like 80% to beat Sonnen right now but like 95% with a full camp. I understand his decision, not sure if I agree with it, but I understand.

White is a whiny little meathead as always.

whamm!   Albania. Aug 24 2012 01:20. Posts 11625

Bad move by Jones if he keeps this up. Remember Fedor? Look how well things turned out for him once he started doing things his way.
There is no other league and people will not go pay to watch bellator just because Jon Jones will be headlining, the UFC is actually the only making Jones the celebrity that he is - Silva almost got cut once he clowned around the Maia fight and he even destroyed that fight. Dana White is a badass fan too and fighters should know it once they sign up to ride this UFC train.
