Cub Swanson isn't a big name? And that's when he was greener than the finest pot in California. The 5 round argument is bad as Aldo fades over 5 worse than most. You have to look at trends and career trajectory. I slightly favor Aldo but SLIGHTLY. Odds are now all the way back down to +220. They'll probably end at around +175 where they opened. Edit: Opened at +150.
Yes Aldo fades, but we know that its already factored in, what we dont know is if Mendes does

The only time I've seen Mendes fade was against Nik Lentz, and Mendes said in the post-fight show that he was sick, which hurt his cardio.
Mendes vs. Aldo #1 only lasted 1 round, and the round was even or you could've argued that Mendes won the round. IMO, it was equal, since both guys were feeling each other out (which Aldo does in every 1st round of every UFC fight). The only things that I take away from their first fight is that Aldo held the cage from being taken down, and then Aldo landed a knee to Mendes' face as Mendes spun around to face Aldo and ran into the knee with 1 second left in the round.
I can't take anything away from that fight, but others act like Aldo straight dominated Mendes. If Mendes would've turned around and stood straight up or turned around and backed up a little like most guys do, the round would've ended and who knows what would've happened next.

Fair enough. Doubt he fades on a straight cardio level like Aldo, despite the Lentz fight (which Rican already explained he had a sinus infection and was CLEARLY not the same fighter) - if he eats leg kicks early he might be damaged goods by the later rounds.
This fight just has so many moving parts, I'm stoked.

Anderson is back. looks like he might get a rematch with weidman which he should, that broken leg was a fluke.
I'd bet on weidman, he showed up strong the first two times. And anderson should be weaker in this 3rd match than he was in the 1st and 2nd.

Cain Velasquez injures knee, out of UFC 180. Mark Hunt to fight Werdum for interim title. (If you don't include fight-week, Hunt is taking this on 2.5 weeks notice.)
Cain Velasquez:
"I’m so unbelievably disappointed that this happened," Velasquez said. "To say I was looking forward to fighting in Mexico for the first time is an understatement. I wanted to fight on that card so bad. Looks like it wasn’t meant to be and it’s not going to happen. I’m going to get my [right] knee fixed and get back to training as soon as I can. I’m sorry to the fans in Mexico who were expecting this fight, and I hope to be able to come down and still be a part of this historic event."

:[ Seems like all the big fights are more likely to get canceled/postponed than not these days. I'm just praying the January fights hold.

Yah, now Hunt has the proverbial Puncher's chance but not much else. Werdum probably coming home with one of his limbs.

Thats not what "punchers chance" means... Hunt is by far the best striker, Werdum has to tire Hunt out before Hunt knocks him out, he has a BIG advantage that they will fight at 2,000m+ altitude so Hunt is probably going to gas earlier than usual

Official announcement video + Dana White private interview + Lorenzo Fertitta private interview. + Show Spoiler +
- UFC officially announces uniform deal with Reebok, fighters to be paid based on ranking.
Dana White suggested that every penny from the deal would go to the fighters but also said that apparel with a fighter's name on it would result in them receiving 20% of the sale on the back-end. The way those two pieces fit together was not fully explained.
This is a massive change for the sport. Fighters will be given "kits" at the start of fight week that include their apparel to be worn in the Octagon. Fighters will no longer have their own sponsorships and will instead rely on the mandatory Reebok deal to generate a significant part of their income.
- Dana White: The new ZUFFA headquarters will have a rehab center for fighters.
- Phil Davis vs. Ryan Bader set for UFC on Fox 14 in Sweden.
- Jake Ellenberger vs. Josh Koscheck set for UFC 184 (loser leaves town)
- Yves Edwards retires from MMA after his loss to Akbarh Arreola at UFC Fight Night - Edgar vs. Swanson. (MMA journalist shout-out video can be seen below) + Show Spoiler +

There is just something different about him, even the way he thinks about MMA is so different. I think I even saw him at EPT Vienna last year playing poker. With his irish accent and some of the stuff he says, he comes off as a mix of a showman and brawler. I think ppl misjudge him, Conor is much smarter than the average fighter. He also seems to have a loving, intelligent and down to earth family that might block fame getting too deep into his head. He has a super high fight IQ and is slowly getting to a scary lvl with his overall game. His wrestling is already better than Pettis when Pettis came to the UFC, his BJJ is on a decent lvl, his striking could be among the very best in ufc history and his power is second to none for his weight class. He moves better than anyone I have seen and his kicks/punches and overall style is closer to JJ or Silva than anyone I have seen before. He is basically the new breed in my opinion. He is taller and has longer reach than Aldo, hell I think he even might have better stand up except for the leg kicks. Whats most scary about him is his mental game tho. If you look at videos from 6 years ago he is sure of himself to become champion in the ufc, 4 years ago same, 2 years ago same. And he keeps on improving, if you look at what he says in between fights and how he solves the fights like a puzzle... I was very hesitant when it comes to the next pseudo hype train, basically in the past I only had a super strong feeling with 4-5 ppl up and coming who I thought had the aura, mind, skillz, and focus. Those were Weidman, Jones, Velasquez and Pettis in WEC. Everyone else had too many holes or seemed not mentally cut out for it or their improvement was too slow. With Gregor its different, he is one of the smarter fighters, he seems to improve a lot, he is still young, he has the mindset of a champion and he reads stuff that reminds me of GSP. He implements Capoeira kicks with southpaw world class boxer styles and it seems very fluid. He only lost 2 fights when he was purely a striker (as did Aldo, Silva back when they were in their beginning). The only fight he did not finish lately was against Max Holloway where he basically kicked the guys ass but popped his knee out and tore his meniscus and still finished the fight in dominant fashion. Also look at how he has changed visually, it kind of reminds me of a metamorphosis, like the nice family Conor kid who deep down was always that irish MMA freak with the special look and tattoos.
Long rant, I just watched a lot of his old fights and videos, its the purest combination in a fighter I have seen thus far (Skill, work ethic, mind, natural gifts, focus, advertiser, and looking out for his teammates). And that out of moth*r**cking Ireland with no (known) world class trainer
