Conor versus either Cerrone or Diaz for an interim belt doesn't make sense.
well, I agree, but Conor should headline the card. They wont move him to co-main, and given Holm - Tate is a title fight, i expect them to put an interim belt for grabs. I like Mcgregor - Diaz more than Cerrone. I think Conor will murk Cowboy in the first round, I ll be all over that if that fight materialize.

Pettis vs Barboza added to Jones/Cormier card. Really good card made better. And great time for those of us burned by Pettis to double down on him for a fun sweat
Haha, I know you were thinking of me baby.
Interesting matchup because it's a great style match-up for both guys - both like to throw at range at a steady slowish pace and are probably the 2 best LW in the world at that type of striking affair, and neither like to trade hands in the pocket where they have to worry about wrestling + their boxing isn't elite. I like Pettis again in this one primarily because he is more durable, more dangerous if it hit's the mat, and most importantly can take advantage of smaller openings with his striking diversity. I wouldn't bet Pettis as a big favorite though. No faith in his confidence and overall fight IQ anymore.
Technically speaking, I think the liability for Pettis is that Barboza's low kicks are IMO the hardest on the planet P4P, and usually he's hesitant to throw them vs the top tier pressure wrestle/boxer's he's gone against but that wouldn't be an issue for him here. If he lands a couple of those early, the game could change. I also think Duke Rufus is a shitty coach and Edson, while losing, has improved greatly with the Edgar/Almeida team.
Probably do some kind of Pettis No-Scorecards prop.
You and me both. And at least a few others. I was fortunate I swung back on to Cruz kind of at the last minute that night

diaz vs connor one time
the shit talk alone pre fight would be worth it
I think its the best choice. Safe for Conor. Entertaining for the fans. And even tho Conor should win, Diaz probably will put up a fight.
^^.
Don't know why anyone would be up in arms over Diaz being 'undeserving' or some shit. It's a week and a half out so the best thing to do is put Conor up with a potentially exciting stand-up fight. People will watch. Pretty safe for Conor and the UFC too although I think Nate's length will give Conor something to think about in the first round and his toughness should extend the fight.

On another note, hate him or love him...Conor is kind of an OG. Talks all that shit but doesn't shy away from shit. Nate didn't want to cut to 155 with such short notice so Conor obliged and will fight this at 170. People kinda overlook that him taking the Mendes fight on such short notice...with Mendes being a completely different style from Aldo...was pretty boss too.

"Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz non-title welterweight bout set for UFC 196"
Since Conor is okay with fighting at 170, there were plenty of other fights that would've been better to make than Nate Diaz.

Pretty shocked Conor is taking this fight, and pretty damn excited about it.
Diaz call-out of Conor on Fox with all the F-bombs paid off. I'm guessing they'll find a way to edit that in the promos.

Conor is the best thing ever in mma. The guy is just a boss.
And this one is really going to be fun, while it lasts. Diaz really hit the lottery with that one, he is probably going to earn more here than his whole career combined. Happy for him, but he will get starched by Mcgregor. Will be interesting to see how Conor deals with Nate's length, but I see him cutting angles and landing big shots right from the start.
Diaz is durable but I don't think he comes out for the 3rd round.

Like who? And for what reasoning? I can't think of a single one that would be better suited for the purpose of a short notice replacement, fun fight. Conor still has to get the 155 strap so 170 lb division implications aren't really a consideration. If and when he wants to go for the 170 title, it's not like the UFC or anyone would stop him and say...hey man..no...you need to prove yourself in the division first. And if we're talking about who deserves it or not...maybe Woodley? Except that wouldn't be nearly as good for the UFC since he doesn't really have a noticeable fan base . And Woodley is a physically strong 170 lb'er who wouldn't hesitate to try to take it to the ground and use that strength like how he fought Condit. Only way Nate takes it to the ground is if (probably not an if) he gets his ass knocked down there. I think the only other choice as good as Nate would've been Cerrone.

I was gonna suggest Pettis as well, but he s on a 6 months medical suspension after Alvarez fight as far as i remember
Problem i have with Nate fight is, that its not gonna be interesting, McGregor will stomp him hard and he s about 10 times smarter so the " trash talk " coming out of Diaz's mouth is just sad. He s not even in a position to trash talk, there s nothing he could say that would matter
