You'd think UFC 200 would be the best of the year, but UFC 198 is better on paper.

----------

UFC 198

Heavyweight Fabricio Werdum (c) vs. Stipe Miocic
Middleweight Ronaldo Souza vs. Vitor Belfort
Middleweight Anderson Silva vs. Uriah Hall
Light Heavyweight Mauricio Rua vs. Corey Anderson
Welterweight Demian Maia vs. Matt Brown
Light Heavyweight Patrick Cummins vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Welterweight Warlley Alves vs. Bryan Barberena
Lightweight Francisco Trinaldo vs. Yancy Medeiros
Middleweight Thiago Santos vs. Nate Marquardt
Welterweight Sergio Moraes vs. Kamaru Usman
Featherweight Renato Moicano vs. Zubaira Tukhugov
Bantamweight John Lineker vs. Rob Font
Catchweight (140 lbs) Cris Cyborg vs. Leslie Smith

----------

UFC 200

Welterweight Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor
Featherweight Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar
Heavyweight Cain Velasquez vs. Travis Browne
Welterweight Johny Hendricks vs. Kelvin Gastelum
Middleweight Gegard Mousasi vs. Derek Brunson
Lightweight Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Lauzon
Lightweight Takanori Gomi vs. Jim Miller
Lightweight Sage Northcutt vs. Enrique Marín
Women's Bantamweight Cat Zingano vs. Julianna Pena
(more to come)

You will change your mind once they add the co-main =)

If its what i think it is, it will be better than the main event, and i'm a really big conor fan.

I wish Aldo and Edgar were main eventing their own card.

Just note also, big fan of mcgregor but watching the fight with diaz I found myself rooting for diaz. There's something awesome about seeing underdogs win.

longple: ur missing the point! this is an attempt to get away from the bumhuntmentality!

McGregor is so good for the sport I cant think a reason a real fan of MMA would want to see him lose.

http://mmajunkie.com/2016/03/nate-dia...d-plan-to-pair-gsp-and-conor-mcgregor

“Georges is full of (expletive),” Diaz said. “They’re all full of (expletive). I want to be the first one to speak up (on St-Pierre): You’re a (expletive) bully. You know you’re going to hold that little-ass Irish man down and take his money."

“He thought he was going to come back and make this big old, ‘Congratulations, Georges St-Pierre is coming back’ show, but get the (expletive) out of here, mother(expletive)."

I wasn't really thinking about it but in hindsight, looks like they really were angling towards a possible GSP-Conor money grab. Really stupid imo. And Anderson Thailand Viagra Silva calling out the 145 lb champ for a money fight when he's fought at 205 before is just a bit shameful.

Foremost a Diaz fan (I wasn't really ever fully on the MMA wagon until Nick's fight with Paul Daley)...but now as a general MMA fan, I really really don't want to see Conor lose again. When you have such a public friendly, money guy like Conor, I see absolutely no reason why you would take this risk with this rematch at the higher weight again so soon. The fight fan public is so fickle. One loss in some un-ordinary circumstances is easy to forgive but if he does lose again, Conor's PPV attraction power is just so ridiculously diminished for at least the year or two after that. Even with the recent loss, it's not like they even truly need a marketable B-side to Conor. Just any legit fighter between 2 and a half weight classes would do. Just see no real reason for doing this again besides short term...hey it's a fun fight. And after seeing Conor look somewhat physically outmatched vs a 145 lb Chad Mendes and an actual 155 lb fighter in Nate...on the ground...no sane person would think that Conor could do anything to stop GSP from big brother'ing him whenever and as long as he wanted to on the mat - even if Conor pulls off a 1 punch KO of Nate in the rematch

hope he fights Johnson for interim belt
the heavyweights that are available will all get demolished imo

plus short notice vs Johnson, who already said a month ago that he will be ready in case one of the two drops out, will be super interesting, considering Johnson and DC have 2 completely different styles so Jones wont be prepared as well as he would've been otherwise.

I would prefer to see Bones vs Johnson with full camp.

Jon Jones vs. Ovince Saint Preux for the interim title.

The UFC called Anthony Johnson, but he just had a dental procedure, so he can't put a mouthpiece in.

I've always like to see emotions in the fight game, I like the pre fight hype and see how they act after the fight. I guess I also wanted to see Diaz win after a barrage of verbal attacks from Conor and how he would react after losing.

I think it's also good in Nate winning, he got some mainstream media coverage to show his personality.

In this rematch though I really want to see him avenge this loss, and the pressure is on because he MUST finish Diaz to make it even, otherwise if it goes to decision then it's just meh.

You will be dissapointed then because Connor probably wont try to finish Diaz which is what exactly he tried to do in the 1st and blew himself out, Connor should be able to get int and out and outwork Diaz and take the decision wins and only seek a finish it it presents itself.

2 good reasons for me

Ferguson out vs Khabib. Lame as fuck.

And also, why do people think Conor putting on muscle solves anything? Muscle was and is so completely irrelevant, what a mind-boggingly dumb thing to attribute the loss to. Sorry but it's ridiculous. The issue was the length, game-plan, pace, reach. Conor can win a rematch but he'd most likely need to mix in some leg kicks and/or more traditional boxing footwork to extend the fight and keep Diaz guessing. Doubt he wins another brawl... Diaz cardio, chin, and timing are just better in that type of fight.

People will call me crazy but I actually think Conor mixing in some takedowns just to score points and keep Diaz guessing wouldn't be a bad idea either as long as we was sure to not sit in guard, but no doubt that's a dangerous proposition. When Conor did it and got subbed in the 1st fight... he was pretty much out on his feet already. I'm not convinced Conor is that bad on the ground to where Diaz just insta-subs/sweeps him from bottom every time. Conor had a really slick sweep at the end of the 1st round vs Diaz.

- Aljamain Sterling vs. Bryan Caraway at UFC Fight Night 88 in Las Vegas.

- The Ultimate Fighter 24 was recently announced; the winner gets an instant title shot against the current Flyweight champion.

Even if you're right about the ground, it's still probably needlessly risky. Doubt Conor would be able to dish out real punishment against someone good from the bottom like Nate so even if the takedowns generally work, not too much of an upside to risk that shit. Least risk strategy has to be to try to always stay moving to keep Nate from setting in to his 1-2 while mixing in the low leg kicks that Nate can hardly get away from and simply looking to not ever fully commit unless a kick just completely takes Nate's legs out or a perfect counter shot lands like Josh Thompson. Though Conor isn't as used to or as good at moving that much laterally like Josh and it's not like Conor's camp shouldn't have known all this going in to the first fight. Going to be interesting to see how much up front ego Conor checks going into that first round and if Nate can adjust to maybe trying to cut the cage off on Conor

I completely disagree with you soberstone about weight. When you get to add around 7% more weight to your body, and its pure functional weight added purely for efficiency its a huge difference.

Basically, im saying it probably takes a long time to add lean mma weight compared to a body builder. It should help conor's cardio and power a bit. Ive been following boxing for a while, and when a big name moves up in weight they usually take a long time before they fight a top fighter. Shit, Canelo Alvarez is the middleweight wbc titleholder and he is going on 2 years before he fights someone in his weight division

I also agree that nates length was the problem. If you see my post before the fight i said it would be the first time in years (or ever?) that conor didnt have a reach advantage. I think he has to use his kicks to replace jabs to establish distance... But that takes a lot of energy and really worries me.

This rematch really makes or breaks his star power for me, i hope he looks really good so he can bring more popularity to the sport.

They dont have to be power kicks, all he has to do is punish the lead leg he doesnt like throwing chopping muay thai kicks to the thigh but he seems to be good at working the knee from both stances, he should spam those and force Nate on the offence with a hurt leg, Connor was hitting clean lefts countering even with the uppercut, it was when he started chasing Nate too much that he started swinging at air and losing his balance.
