Maybe you guys are right about the weight. I don't personally buy that a guy who gassed and got finished needs to be cutting (not that he was before) especially since there is very little clinch work going on, but maybe it will help him put more power behind his punches and do more damage.
If he looks bigger at weighins I'll certainly concede that I was wrong because I have faith that his team knows what they are doing and what, if anything, can be fixed.
As for the takedowns, I'm only suggesting he'd employ them to lengthen the fight (stalling on top), scoring points, and throwing Diaz off his game. Not as an actual way to do damage.
On another note, prior to their first fight I could legitimately tell that Conor wasn't as supremely confident as normal. His mannerisms showd that he was more in the trying to convince himself mode. I'll be interested to see if I get that same vibe this time around. I know that sounds like some dumb whacky shit but when you watch a guy enough you can just kinda tell. Dunno if anyone else saw it the same way. I swear before the fight occurred I told my roommate I thought Conor might break in there (which isn't exactly what happened, but I think the confidence thing is an issue, particularly with being calm, in flow, and some of the intangibles that affect cardio, timing, etc). |

Nah not dumb whacky shit. I mean I guess sometimes you get that kind of vibe but a fight is a fight and the next night, shit could happen and the unconfident fighter just corks out a great performance unexpectedly. And then that vibe you had could make you feel stupid. And sometimes, no matter how much a fighter's mannerisms screams something out to you, your 'read' could just be off or it like before, it just doesn't matter when the fight happens. But I'm with you on this one. Can't say I fully expected it to effect the fight in any real way, but Conor just did not sound right trying to make fun of Nate in the seconds after their weigh in staredown. The skinny fat guy line etc. Almost like he just pressured himself too much into having a last word maybe wanting a mental edge he didn't feel, but it just didn't come out as confident as Conor almost always is. Not the same but maybe a similar tone to how Ronda flipped her switch from being respectful to Holly in the build up to a sudden outburst seemingly unprovoked. Except I didn't really have any reason to doubt Ronda's confidence then since that was never even the slightest problem with her. But uhh...either lack of confidence or not being in full control of emotions...definitely came out to me in the voices of both right after their weigh-ins. Of course hindsight is great though. Not like I put any money on Holly and I'm pretty sure about 94% of the reason I bet on Nate was because I'm biased |

Hopefully Miesha wins.. Holly beats whoever, Ronda returns to trash Miesha for the 3rd time and then we get a rematch Holly vs Ronda |

He quickly admitted to it, and I believe he's one of the few trustworthy fighters in MMA.
I'm glad the fight is cancelled, though. It makes it easier for me to make a solid team on DraftKings, and makes it harder for others who were going to stack their teams with Machida with the hope of a R1 finish. (I was avoiding Machida and Henderson on DK) |

Why this though? I wanted to think that too but I think it's just inherently from him being more media friendly/savvy than say an Anderson Silva. And that in itself shouldn't be a real reason.
I usually don't look closely into details of someone being busted because nowadays, it's just safe to assume the same old denial song and dance from the accused fighter will happen before some sort of half apology/admittance comes out and then you don't even need to know many details. Unless of course someone takes the route of using Thailand Viagra pills as a defense instead. But the supplement that Machida was caught for, DHEA, caught my eye...and it's because I've taken something similar sounding called DHA before which is an unproven brain supplement along the lines of gingko biloba etc. So if you google the thing Machida was caught for, 7-Keto DHEA, a bunch of results come up from large, very legit supplement companies that make the product almost seem just like any other supplement. Until of course you read that it is in fact a steroid. And obv in the wiki for it, 'The World Anti-Doping Agency lists 7-keto DHEA as a prohibited anabolic agent.[10]'
So seeing as how that's on the very first page of the supplement's wikipedia page, Lyoto is obv either really stupid or lying about not knowing. But I mean...for the future...where do the lines get drawn on stuff like this. A mainstream supplement company like 'NOW Foods' is just handing this stuff out on amazon to anyone who wants to buy it? Was I naive before in thinking that you had to dig a little deeper if you had no connections and wanted access to stuff like this? Is this stuff just like kiddie shit compared to actual roids?

I'm super super against any PEDs of any kind but maybe there are more grey areas to it than I thought

Coincidentally going to be in Vegas for the Jon Jones fight. Kinda feel like walking by MGM and putting down a grand on Jones so as to get a $150 dinner and drinks night out of watching him hulk smash a dude in his comeback. Does anyone give OSP any kind of miracle shot? OSP could lose to a bunch more LHW's besides the ones he's already lost to pretty easily and I wouldn't blink. But I think his near freakish athleticism gives him a better shot at Jones than some better fighters have in beating Jones. And I'd kind of be a sad little dude walking around in Vegas late Saturday night if some shit happened. Yeeet I still wanna do it I think. Is the layoff/rust factor playing at all into the odds? Because even though I can't really explain it, I don't think that's going to be a factor at all for someone like Jones.
Oh and as for few trustworthy people in MMA, the only real one retired already. After being a man's man and fightin' a clearly roided up Wanderlei straight up. Brian Stann.

I really like the line on Stipe Miocic vs Werdum.
I think he should be the favorite, I think Werdum mostly wins by studying his opponents and exploiting a weakness, and Miocic doesn't really have much that I can see Werdum exploiting to victory. A ground game is the only thing that comes to mind, but Miocic knows that, and is like 4x the athlete of Werdum so whatever small weakness he finds will still be hard to take advantage of inside the cage. |

Werdum has one of the worst wrestlings in the HW divison, since his BJJ is so good he has never utilized wrestling, nobody wants to take him down and in general avoid grappling with him I dont think he takes Miocic down, however Werdums striking is pretty strong now, he attacks with reckless abandon throwing nice combinations and apparently works a lot on his setups (like Hunts KO) but tbh im a bit surprised nobody has been able to catch him yet, he leaves himself exposed pretty often and Hunt caught him a couple of times but I dont think Miocic despise being a good striker is the type to chase those openings (unlike a Hunt or Overeem) so I wouldnt be that surprised if Werdum manages to oustrike him especially in the last rounds |

I would be utterly shocked. Miocic almost outstruck JDS, I thought he won that fight this isn't Mark Hunt level striking. |

Conor said he's retiring and is officially out of UFC 200.
USADA can no longer test you if you retire. Pretty certain this isn't a coincidence that he magically decides to retire. It isn't because of the death or he wouldn't of tweeted " I'm retiring thanks for the money suckers. " It isn't some dispute, he wouldn't pass up all the money he'd make at UFC 200.
His team told him he was gonna fail his next USADA test and he retired so they wouldn't catch him. He'll be back in a year though. |

Nice theory. I'd say its probably a negotiating issue / personal issues (they tend to crop up when you get obscenely famous and lose), but this isn't out of the realm of possibility, I personally don't think so though. |

You think he pulled out of the biggest payday of his life by a large amount due to a negotiating/person issue? This was slated to be the biggest PPV in UFC history, and a huge payday for him. And a historical event. No way do I buy him " retiring " due to a negotiating issue. He already signed the contract to fight, I doubt he backed out and retired because he suddenly had a new issue. |

UFC 200 now looks like shit, but i am confident UFC will find a way to fix things.
GSP, Lawler, RDA, Jones, all of them could save UFC 200. |
