really? i wasn't really excited about Diaz vs McGregor, i'd much rather see him against RDA/Aldo/Edgar.
Jones vs DC would be sick. |

But why would he retire before the tests unless he got some tip from inside the USADA |

I'm implying he definitely does. The UFC pays USADA millions to test their fighters and are a billion dollar company, I'd be surprised if they didn't get some inside info. They had the NSAC bury Vitors dirty test results to allow him to fight Jones.
That makes more sense to me than Conor refusing to do a press conference for the biggest payday for a fighter in MMA history, probably by a large amount. Or that Conor tried to force the UFC's hand after already having signed a contract to fight Nate. Or that UFC pulling him and sinking the biggest PPV event in MMA history.
That all sounds absurd to me. |

LOL Stim. Nice conspiracy, but I am pretty sure that Conor and most superstars in sports, can pretty easily juice and not get caught. Most drugs stay in the system for a few days, so it is pretty easy to clean up. To think that he has a tip that USADA is coming and decides to retire for a year to avoid that is ridiculous.
Seems to me like a clear contract/promotional issue. It has been reported months ago, that UFC and Mcgregor relationship is rocky.
Conor has so much leverage now on the UFC, imo. Without him this card is clearly going down the drain. I guess Jon Jones - DC 2 is an option, but that fight won't pull half the numbers of Diaz - Mcgregor 2. Only GSP can save the show, but he seems to have his own contract issues atm. |

Now that I think about it, I don't miss Conor anymore. He might regret pulling that shit off vs Dana. Remember Dana held out on fucking FEDOR, at the point where he could do better numbers than ANYONE in the sport, especially after destroying everyone at strikeforce(before the Werdum loss). What's crazier is that from what I see from Dana, he will just freeze Conor's ass until a new guy comes around. |

Fedor was never that popular to the general public. MMA fans consider him GOAT, but when he was fighting at the states at his peak popularity he was a free TV fighter. His 2 Affiction shows, where he was on PPV pulled around 100k buys.
Conor just sold 1.5mln PPVs vs Nate Diaz on 10 days notice. He is a global superstar and the biggest draw since Brock Lesnar. If he had stayed on 200, he would of broke all records for sure. Pretty obv that he is pulling this stunt because he wants more money and he deserves it, imo. |

We will see what happens, can't imagine he goes out on a loss to Nate and just retires like this. He has leverage but so does the UFC obviously. Where the hell is Connor gonna go? Bellator lol?
Maybe he isn't the MMA hero/savior you guys thought he was. |

Dana said if Conor doesn't clear up his retirement issue fast, Aldo vs. Edgar will be for the real title instead of the interim title. |

That fight already should be for the belt. No idea why he is just doing multiple random fights at 170/155 when there are legit contenders in the weight class he holds the belt hungry to fight. Not like he is near the 155 title shot anymore. Not fair, but more than that it is just dumb |

He should be fighting Edgar at 200 not trying to avenge his loss to Nate, as though that would even erase the ass whooping he already took... |

Apparently McGregor witnessed a friend of his destroying some portguese in the octagon a few days prior to his announcment, leading to the guy's death. Would be a pretty solid reason to think things through and retire. Would only mean he doesn't have the mentallity of a GOAT though so , so much for his talk |

Conor statement posted on FB:
I am just trying to do my job and fight here.
I am paid to fight. I am not yet paid to promote.
I have become lost in the game of promotion and forgot about the art of fighting.
There comes a time when you need to stop handing out flyers and get back to the damn shop.
50 world tours, 200 press conferences, 1 million interviews, 2 million photo shoots, and at the end of it all I'm left looking down the barrel of a lens, staring defeat in the face, thinking of nothing but my incorrect fight preparation. And the many distractions that led to this.
Nothing else was going through my mind.
It is time to go back and live the life that got me this life.
Sitting in a car on the way to some dump in Conneticut or somewhere, to speak to Tim and Suzie on the nobody gives a fuck morning show did not get me this life.
Talking to some lady that deep down doesn't give a fuck about what I'm doing, but just wants some sound bites so she can maybe get her little tight ass a nice raise, and I'm cool with that too, I've been giving you all raises. But I need to focus on me now.
I'm coming for my revenge here.
I flew an entire team to Portugal and to Iceland to make my adjustments in preparation and fix my errors I made with the weight and the cardio prep.
With the right adjustments and the right focus, I will finish what I started in that last fight.
I will not do this if I am back on the road handing out flyers again.
I will always play the game and play it better than anybody, but just for this one, where I am coming off a loss, I asked for some leeway where I can just train and focus. I did not shut down all media requests. I simply wanted a slight adjustment.
But it was denied.
There had been 10 million dollars allocated for the promotion of this event is what they told me.
So as a gesture of good will, I went and not only saved that 10 million dollars in promotion money, I then went and tripled it for them.
And all with one tweet.
Keep that 10 mill to promote the other bums that need it. My shows are good.
I must isolate myself now.
I am facing a taller, longer and heavier man. I need to prepare correctly this time.
I can not dance for you this time.
It is time for the other monkeys to dance. I've danced us all the way here.
Nate's little mush head looks good up on that stage these days. Stuff him in front of the camera for it.
He came in with no shit to do that last one. I'd already done press conferences, interviews and shot the ads before RDA pulled out.
Maybe I'll hit Cabo this time and skull some shots pre-fight with no obligation.
I'm doing what I need for me now.
It is time to be selfish with my training again. It is the only way.
I feel the $400million I have generated for the company in my last three events, all inside 8 months, is enough to get me this slight leeway.
I am still ready to go for UFC 200.
I will offer, like I already did, to fly to New York for the big press conference that was scheduled, and then I will go back into training. With no distractions.
If this is not enough or they feel I have not deserved to sit this promotion run out this one time, well then I don't know what to say.
For the record also -
For USADA and for the UFC and my contract stipulations -
I AM NOT RETIRED. |

Shocker.
Dude is just being a welching baby. U signed the contract brah, ur not above it. Ur opponent is expected to do the same promotional work so why should you get to train only and have that edge.
Probably just a BS statement anyways. Just wants more money and the UFC snapped his shitty bluff. |

"Some dump in connecticut" - like the dump you came from in ireland?
"Finish what I started in the last fight" - it was finished, you lost. Not like it was a draw or something.
A 30 million dollar tweet? Rofl no.
Calling every other fighter a bum. Nice.
"He came in with no shit to do the last one" - yea he took it on short notice after taking shots on a boat in mexico.
Sounds like a delusional baby. Not an Alpha boss. Excuse after excuse. He shoulda had someone write that statement for him not just edit it for spelling and grammar. Liking this guy less and less.

Not that I think its some Dana White masterplan or anything, but the storyline fits right into UFC's hands.
