What about Ripple? Anyone investing in it?

lots of people judging by the price. Ripple is the banker's coin. It's centralised

I've been following Ripple the past 8 months, more and more banks take up on it, it's a technology meant to replace SWIFT, yet the price is near an all-time low for the past 8 months.

Could someone explain how did the separation happen? For example if i had 1 BTC pre split, do I have 1 BTC + 1 BCH post split? Since they share the same transaction history I'm guessing they share the same supply as well, meaning that the supply should be equally redistributed. And if that is so why didn't BTC drop down @ split, instead both currencies went high and created value out of thin air? Or was the latter just a speculation on the market

No, you don't get 1 btc + 1bch. Not sure how that worked though.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

You get 1 BTC +1 BCH and basically up until the moment of the split it was one chain. Now it is two chains going forward they share the same history but different path forward. Picture it as a fork on the road. One goes one way, and other another way. The blocks that are behind are shared and still there.
So you dont have to do anything until you want to cash out. If you want to cash out BTC you use BTC core's wallet. If you want to use BCH use BCH wallet.

They both went up Because:

1.the people that liked segwit got really excited and bought up legacy chain
and
2. the big blockers got excited for raising blocksize on BCH and also bought up their chain.

The reason they both went up is because both groups have a clear way forward - no uncertainty on scaling for the future.

Short term i still think legacy chain is king but if segwit fails then who knows BCH might become the largest.
Either way the safest is to hold both BCH and BTC and see how it plays out. Both camps are quiet religious about "their way" and it's hard to get unbiased information.

To complicate things there is another hard fork coming in November.

Depends on where you have your BTC, some sites didnt even allow BCH so you dont get them, where did you have yours?

us big banks are going to co opt the cyrpto market for the block chain tech and push to kill btc/eth and create their own ecosystems to boosts profit. this will create a time like back in the original 13 colonies when there were major institutions doing business with multiple volatile currencies... They will centralize and force out anonymity and prop up demand for their coin by only allowing it to be transacted in certain areas through the coins code. satoshi was correct to not want to push this bigger than a simple beta...
