There's also hacks and confiscations to worry about. A close friend of mine got $1000 in at 1 to 1 at the advice of Donald. I begged him to cash out when Bitcoin was $9 since a 900% return in just a few months isn't natural at all for investing, you should be very happy with 8% a year. He didn't listen but unfortunately the money was on MtGox so that 4.3M or whatever it would be is just zero. Heard that there might be a lawsuit floating around about that still, so if true, gl to him and anyone hit by that fiasco.
Anyway its a bit weird for me now since I'm still pretty convinced that bitcoin is in a bubble but I've been that way since it was $9. So I'm not really buying bitcoins, but since bitcoin cashouts are at the moment the best option for US poker sites I was sort of forced into having them. Recognizing that I have no idea what I'm doing has actually been good for me since I just let them sit until I needed the money as opposed to trying to time cashouts as if I had a clue. |

A bit of an off-topic in terms of price flow and blah blah:
Shitton of sites have implemented Coin Hive plugins into their code, using your computer to mine coins for them without your knowledge. The practice became quite viral in a matter of weeks so I suggest you guys install some kind of a plugin against it. "No Coin" works perfectly for chrome, tested it out myself, no clue about other browsers |

If you use that computer for anything crypto related I would strongly advise against installing these things unless the tool is open source and you understand it. |

forks are essentially printing money like the fed does, this doesnt create value but it creates inflation.
For example BTC should be 400ish+ in value without the BCH fork so by selling BCH we didnt really make any money, it just feels that way |

in theory yes, in reality the world is not perfect. I have made money on BCH split so I am planning to do the same here.
There will always be people who don't take any action and this is why one can find an edge |

Indeed, BCH lost from random ppl is deflation making your coins more valuable but also the fork have a negative impact in terms of percieved stability |

daut, when genjix started talking about bitcoin here at LP around 2011 - 2012, did you pick it up right away and invested some money in it, or did you get in on mid 2013 when it began to show that it could be something big around that time?
just curious. |
Nah. Bought like 6-10 coins back in 2013 when it was $500-700, then sold all but 2 back when it hit $800. Held onto last 2 coins for years, then started buying then up last summer, good timing. Not as good as genjix or the donald though!
|
Donald was right. He did sell me a couple of coins back in 2011, only wish I had gone into bitcoin more intensely when I first heard of it on LiquidPoker. Just like I wish I had gone into poker at full throttle when it first heard about it on TeamLiquid. I would be rich now if my though process was different in that way! |

Russia is looking at ways to ban exchange of cryptos in the country, yet Bitcoin gives no fucks and continues to increase in value. |

Anyone buying still at 4800? It seems like people who benefit the most from forks are people with a lot of Bitcoin. (Rich get richer)
What a fork will do is give people with bitcoins free bitgold. How is that not making any money?
People who got bitcash from the fork now profited 300 extra bucks per Bitcoin they had from this new altcoin that was printed out of thin air.
I'm kicking myself more now that I don't have any coins and there is going to be another fork wtf this is crazy. I can't take it anymore.

no thats not how it works, those 300 of bch mean BTC would be worth 300 more than it is today in very rough terms |

Theoretically, you should be right Baal, in reality when BTC split, its value didn't drop, but the BCH opened at 300$ and reached as far as 800$ in a matter of a week or two. BTC should've dropped during the fork and made up through BCH, no? |

no because the market doesnt react real time, it preentively acts, meaning uncertanty of the fork drives money out, so BTC should be valued higher when the fork happens |
