hmmm,

It seems like the best way to invest in just bitcoin would be to buy bitcoin without the use of exchanges or wallets. That would require me to find a local exchanger and I would bring cash. No idea what type of vig they would charge and I don't really want to be carrying around much cash and/or trade with a non-trusted trader. At this point I just want bitcoin to act as gold in a secure safe or a swiss bank account. If I want to turn that back into fiat money I would then have to get a wallet and it would take forever with fees. Is there an easier way to get bitcoin w/ out dealing with a local exchange or online wallet? I just want the app and to hold it and go from there.

Points in time for RiKD

1. Bitcoin value at 03.january
2, RiKD finds out how awesome cryptocurrencies are
3. ???
4. profit

Bitcoin is "valued" higher than it has ever been recently, you should exercise some caution before jumping on the bandwagon. Just because you found out more about cryptocurrencies doesn't mean the price will appreciate.

Would anyone be willing to send me some small fraction of a bitcoin that I could send back to see how the process works?

I setup a Bitcoin.com wallet.

Well, from what I have learned so far I am willing to bet that prices will appreciate although I am not knowledgable enough in computer science, digital software, or engineering to really be able to tell the junk alt coins from the winners. There is a price point I am looking for to get my bitcoins and it isn't 14k-15k.

Is Bitcoin.com wallet going to charge me a vig if I buy coins with my credit card?

Please note that additional fees will be charged, on top of the above
Bitcoin / $ rate at checkout. Those fees are as follows:
- Bitcoin.com 2.5%
- Credit card processing by Simplex 5% ($10 minimum)

What exactly does governance issues mean in regards to BTC?

Won't other coins experience these potential governance issues as they scale up?

Only way for bitcoin is up, if able to buy at lower price, profits will be made.
I'm not a hater, just the timing to buy might not be now considering what has happened recently with the price.

Best way to go from USD in a bank to BTC in a Trezor wallet?

RiKD    United States. Jan 05 2018 22:31. Posts 8989

Let's assume I am unwilling to use coinbase because of their insider trading on BCH.

FrinkX   United States. Jan 06 2018 01:08. Posts 7562

i guess u can out of principal but they are the biggest exchange with the lowest fees

especially with this:
https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@b...-pay-coinbase-fees-usd-to-btc-eth-ltc

there could be more exchanges with a system like this, but the medium amount of research I did on it showed coinbase to be the cheapest.

IMO use them for low fees but dont use them for storage
