Yesterday I met an American tourist here in Brazil and he told me that until very recently he thought the capital of Brazil was Rio de Janeiro. He also told me that a lot of people in America think that Rio is the Capital of Brazil.
I think that is kinda sad, but since Brazil is gonna hold the FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 and the OLYMPIC GAMES 2016 I think a lot of people will learn a little more about Brazil.
I live in Brasilia, the real Capital of Brazil and I'm gonna leave you with a beautiful video about my city!

I thought Rio was the capital until I started following MMA more heavily, then a couple of the Brazilian fighters from Brasilia were always proud to remind people that Rio is not the capital, but in fact its Brasilia.

when i was 12 years old i was watching i still know what you did last summer. in the beginning of the movie, the killer calls jenniver love hewitt, tells her if she answers a trivia question right she will get a free trip to some exotic place, asks her what the capital of brazil is to which she replies "rio de janeiro". she wins a free trip yay.
then she gets to said exotic island, informs the ground keeper of the super nice hotel shes staying at how she won the trip and the savvy smart janitor says "but the capital of brazil is brasilia"
ever since ive known what the capital of brazil was.

wow thats amazing I dont know any foreing people able to do that... I think its harder to tell the difference between the accent of Brasilia and some parts of Brazil, its not much the way the words are said but the words that we use. Like "vei" means "dude", no other place in Brazil use this word (I guess), and we say it a lot. the history of the city contributes for this. Brasilia was planned, built in 1945 and people from all Brazil came to live here, so they ended up mixing a lot of accents to make our own...
INTERESTING FACT
The project of the city was called "Plano Piloto", means "Pilot Project", the whole city was planned to make the shape of a plane. Go to Google Maps, search Brasilia, zoom in and observe the shape of the city
lol I just found out that Montreal is in Canada... I thought it was in the United States cause I remember an episode of Friends where Ross takes a train to Montreal from New York lol
I guess there are some black souls ins america, who's knowledge in geography is sub-par
When I was in the U.S. I had numerous people asks me how long I had to drive over from Germany. Also when I was living in a city called Bayreuth in Germany, people asked me what it's like to live in Lebanon
of course, many germans are not much better. Yesterday I saw a video of german guy who thought Angelo Merte (apparently italian-german guy) was the chancellor of Germany and that Hitler was chancellor right before "him". He also thought that germany had a population of about 30.000 - 40.000

i can tell when they speak english, for some reason people from different regions develop different english accents, i dont know if i can tell where a brazilian is from if hes speaking portugese as i dont know the language.
when i hear people talk i try to hear the voices of the following people in my head
rio de janeiro - renzo gracie
curitiba - wanderlei silva
belem - machida
its kinda strange how similar others from those regions sound when they speak english
