Solaris is a masterpiece (Tarkovsky's version). I haven't seen the remake but it's quite certain to be far worse. Moon (2009) is similar in some ways but more entertaining.
I saw Coherence as well a while ago and I would recommend it if you like mind-fuck types of movies. Somewhat reminded me of a Shane Carruth movie. You would probably enjoy Primer if you enjoyed Coherence.

I also enjoyed Two Faces of January, it's not extraordinary, but worth a watch (it's inspired by The Talented Mr Ripley). anything with Viggo is worth a watch
The same composer who scored The Skin I live In, Alberto Iglesias
I just discovered the original Solaris yesterday! can't wait to watch it, old sci-fi's have so much style. I didn't like the newer one.
I dont know what a dt drop is. Is it a wrestling move? -Oly

Yeah, I had guessed. But it's like if your neighbor made a dubstep remix of Beethoven's 5th symphony and I said "you know that's a remix of a masterwork..." and then Baal said "well it's badly rated on allmusic" right after.

I saw "Equalizer" with Denzel Washington, absolute shit. I regret wasting money on a cinema ticket.
"Lucy" was v.bad as well, some good visual effects though. Terrible ending.
Good movies:
On another note, I loved "The Secret life of Walter Mitty". Started it without any high expectations and it actually turns out to be one of those movies that make you smile and say to yourself "damn, I should do same".
"Prisoners" that Loco mentioned 2 posts ago, really, really good movie. Forces you to debate what would you do in one of those situations yourself.
I think using the shower first would have probably been smart.
Zodiac was really good. The vanishing was good as well but I'm surprised it has 100% on Rotten lol.

I dont like most old movies, the acting is ridiculous among other things, I remember enjoying 13 ghosts (nothing great just random 90ss horror) and decided to watch the original and god damn... it was awful.

More about gambling and life of degenerates (set in the 70s).
@baal you are just not watching the proper oldies; most movies are trash now and same thing 60 years ago.

Birdman and Nightcrawler are both excellent films still in theaters right now.
