I have yet to see a holywood war movie that isn't just a pack of lies. I just downloaded it and watched it, it was even worse than i expected, and is so much worse than the other two movies that i cited, which were at least somewhat critical and didn't have cliched characters in it. It is not suprising since the military has worked with holywood in over 800 movies and helped write the script for many of them. Mendes who directed 1917 literally beleives the war was about fighting for a unified and free europe rather the myriod of reasons largely associated with disciplining the working class and imperialistic interests.
"After directing the James Bond movies “Skyfall” and “Spectre,” Mendes was having trouble mounting a new film project. His agent Beth Swofford suggested that he explore the World War I stories he had once told her. In 2017, a year after the Brexit vote, Mendes found further inspiration. “I’m afraid that the winds that were blowing before the First World War are blowing again,” he said. “There was this generation of men fighting then for a free and unified Europe, which we would do well to remember.”

I don't have a problem with the portrayal of a combination of individual heroism and a war being utterly pointless and destructive. I thought 1917 was a really impressive piece of cinematography without making any attempts at making ww1 seem like it was a worthwhile endeavor. I mean, sure, you can interpret it in a 'germans are bad and brits are good (only german they meet ends up being a huge betraying cunt while all the brits are swell chaps)' way or whatever, but I thought it was much more about the hopelessness of war, indeed coupled with a story of individual heroism,

I'm actually amazed Parasite won movie of the year. Did they actually watch the nominated movies this year? Damn, impressive.
Probably gonna see 1917 as someone told me its a 'single shot' type of movie which seems interesting. Too bad Loco spoiled it with his comments

lol wtf. blackjacki literally spoiled the most important part of the movie (the ending) and you blame me for spoiling some trivial part about a medal after that? (wouldn't have spoiled if it wasn't for his initial spoil btw - I figured people would have stopped reading about it if they cared)
it's not a true continuous one shot and you can tell when they're cutting if you know how they accomplish this type of thing but it works very well.
fuck I should just sell some of my Pokemon cards, if no one stakes that is what I will have to do - lostaccount

I stopped reading his comment after 'this article is bullshit' cause I assumed he continued the rant around that and I didnt bother reading the article either so it was kind of useless for me to continue reading his comment :D

Watched Parasite yesterday. Fantastic, incredibly creative movie.
you'd be surprised how many korean movies are like that. they're really unapologetic with how far they'll take the creative aspect in storytelling. that's what makes them so fresh to us who have been used to western cinema.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 on Netflix is fantastic. It's an Aaron Sorkin movie

In that category of shows I think The OA is better. It's a travesty to have be been cancelled, but then again, no surprise since Netflix are scum.

Every year I try to watch every best picture nominee for the Oscars. I still need to see Sound of Metal and The Father but I've seen every other so far. I think Minari is my favorite so far. I think Nomadland is the favorite to win.

The german show on netflix? Almost done with season 2 of Dark but I kind of think it's a garbage show.

i liked the sound of metal. my dad currently has alzheimer so The father was a tough watch but anthony hopkins is great in it. minari was good but i didnt find it particularly special. Nomadland started as a hard watch but the scenery was nice & overall good movie but again didnt think it particularly special. Mank i tried watching twice but i couldnt stand it felt like lala land too american for me.. promising young women i couldnt go past 5 minutes either it must pick up a lot later on cause the beginning is yikes
havent watched trials of chicago and judas and the black messiah
mortal kombat was ass lol
felt really cheap and martial arts was meh. The last one with the awesome track was better even if it was kind of trash as well.
It might be just me getting old since i also felt nothing for kong vs godzilla. The Snyder Cut was dope though, I loved it (except for the fact i had to repeat some scenes)
I like this series a lot though even if i dont care for animated stuff that much

Haven't been to movie theaters since covid...even before then I am antihollywood so I limit my movies to either only good stuff or stuff by right wingers (clint Eastwood lol).
Also kind of want to see new James bond
