Help me decide
  k2o4, Dec 10 2009

Does it mean I'm a nerd if I just went through the stuff we have stored in the basement and gathered what I considered to be a box of awesome, and in that box is:

-Extended versions of all of the LOTR trilogy
-Episodes 1-6 of Star wars
-The first 5 harry potter movies
-The 2 newest zelda games

Cause as I was coming upstairs I thought "wow this is a box filled with everything awesome"

Now I face a dilemma, which is what I need you to help me decide... what to watch? I just want some background noise while I do other random stuff around the house so it's not like I'm gonna be sitting down watching anything.

Vote now! (LOTR won so now need input on which one)

Poll: Which LOTR should k2o4 watch
(Vote): Fellowship
(Vote): Towers
(Vote): King

Going to Asia (Korea, Cambodia, Thailand)
  k2o4, Dec 09 2009

My girl and I just finished booking our tickets to Asia and we were able to get our layover in Seoul extended to 6 days, which means I get to see the Pro BW Scene! That's a long term nerd fantasy come true for a guy who started playing BW @ 12 yrs old and remembers reading news about the first time Grrr went out there to play =) So if any of you guys are in Seoul in January let me know. I'm gonna be staying with Midian (thanks Jamie, you rock) which will be totally awesome.

After we leave Korea we'll head to Bangkok. From there we're gonna backpack around Thailand and into Cambodia. If we get time we're also gonna try for Laos and Burma. I am so insanely excited right now, I feel like a kid on Christmas morning.

Helllzzzz yeahhhhhhhhhhhh!

We'll be gone for at least 1 month, at most 5 months, and most likely around 3 months. It all depends on how long we can stretch the money we've saved for the trip.

Life is good.

Run Bad went away
  k2o4, Dec 06 2009

Still didn't run great (you're supposed to win flips half the time right?) but not the horrible death doomswitch of friday. Think I'm still down for the weekend but at least I got some hands in today and probably won some money (haven't checked results in about a week).

Didn't play at all yesterday cause I was overall feeling tilty from the friday suffering and knew that if I played and had any bad luck I'd go right into spew mode. Went to the "Sagittarius Ball" last night which was fun. It was at the Elks club and lots of old people came and got funky. Entertaining stuff.

The best part was the fundraiser they did - there were 4 middle aged women dressed up in some semi-slutty outfits who did a burlesque dance to "Hey Big Spender" and followed it up with calling people to come out of the crowd and sit for a lap dance ($20 for the dance). They were raising money for Africa or something like that, but all that mattered was how funny it was to watch these older ladies live out their stripper fantasies.

Off to game a bit, maybe watch more lost, not sure. Been on a rewatching lost spree which has been damn fun. Lotta stuff I totally forgot about.

I think it's the most tilting
  k2o4, Dec 04 2009

To run bad when the tables are full of fish. You make good moves and get screwed by variance, but still feel good cause there's lots of fish and u made a good move. You make more good moves and get beaten down even more and start tilting, but don't want to leave cause there's so many fucking fish!

Oh well, there's always tomorrow. Running like shit and made a spewy move that I wouldn't have normally so I'm quitting despite having some of the juiciest tables. Garh.

Oh well.

Move Done!
  k2o4, Dec 01 2009

Fin. Finito. Nada mas. It's over baby and it's good, yeah, real good, good like the top side of set over set deep.

Actually got things done pretty smoothly and quickly, but when moving there's no such thing as too quick. Still have some unpacking to do and I want to sort things out a bit. Got lazy and did a lot of "just throw it in a box and we'll figure it out later" moves.

Been a busy last 5 days or so. Started moving on Wednesday, then flew to San Fran on Thursday and went straight from the airport to the thanksgiving festivities, had a relaxing day on Friday, and then flew home on Saturday. Sunday morning began the big move and today we grabbed the last things laying around the house, cleaned it and turned in the keys. I'm so glad it's over. I'm fucking tired.

Haven't been able to grind much cause of traveling and moving. Before this went down I was getting like 10k hands a week. Gonna try and keep that up for the next 2 weeks and then aim for at least 5k a week while traveling.

That is all.

Nearly Moved Out
  k2o4, Nov 30 2009

Spent all day today moving - insane how my entire life fits into the back of a uhaul... and a small one too, haha.

Was the biggest move I've ever made as I spent most of my "independent" life floating from apartment to apartment with just my bed, desk, computer and clothes. The desk was just a folding table so I could fit everything except the bed in my car, and I'd just borrow a friends truck to move the bed. This was my first uhaul experience and it went quite well.

I've been living in a 2 bedroom townhouse with my girl for the past year and a half. It was pretty big with a living room, separate kitchen with a small dining area, and bathroom on the first floor. The second floor had a full bathroom and 2 well sized rooms, one which we used for my "poker office". Then the basement had a lot of space and a washer/dryer. All for $625 a month. Sick value. I posted pics of it in a past blog.

The only "bad" thing was the thin walls and the rowdy neighbors. At $625 a month you can imagine the type of people we got living near us. Cops were called to our townhouses quite often and there were a lot of interesting altercations that went on. But also a lot of bad vibes - the first neighbors we had fought like crazy and the girl had to call the cops on the guy quite a bit. If they weren't fighting the guy was having never ending parties but the parties were just a bunch of 20 something guys who didn't graduate HS and just sat around drinking, smoking and screaming about the good old days.

We didn't move out cause of the neighbors though - we moved out due to travel. Asian travel. Yessiree bob. See in 2 weeks we're starting the "Family Xmas tour", an annual occurrence. We fly to Washington DC for a week and then Michigan for another week to visit family on both sides. We'll get back at the end of the month and then in mid January we fly to Thailand for a backpacking journey into Cambodia and maybe Laos, Vietnam and Burma.

So since we're not gonna be around much before we leave we figured it's best to move out now and save money on rent by crashing at my dads place for a bit. 2 weeks here, 2 weeks on the Xmas tour, then 2 more weeks before we head out on our Asian adventure. Seems like a really short amount of time left in the USA to me but I'm looking forward to every second of the next few months.

We plan to be in Asia for at least 1 month, at most 5 months. After that we'll come back to CO and find a new place and jobs and so on. Hopefully I'll be able to just grind and find a part time thing like I was doing before. The part time gig is nice for the mental stability of knowing money is coming in even if I have a downswing month, but it also helps deal with that feeling of not contributing to the world and just being alone, isolated and hermitish in my room staring at a computer all day by myself. Interacting with other humans face to face is good.

So I'm really tired and for some reason that has lead me to write a longer blog than I intended, cause my mind keeps wandering. The point I was trying to make is that we moved and I'm exhausted. I wanted to play poker but I don't let myself play tired anymore, so I guess this ranting blog will have to do.

Happy Thanksgiving
  k2o4, Nov 27 2009

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

lolz Mr Turkey, I had ham AND you tonight!

I'm in San Fran for thanksgiving, visiting my uncle. He does a big shindig and 31 people showed up tonight. Family of family of family. I barely know anybody but the ones I know are lots of fun. Good food and a fun day overall.

Staying here tonight/tomorrow night, fly back to CO on Saturday. Then on Sunday I finish moving out of my apartment. My GF and I started the move last night (wed) and we have the uhaul truck on sunday. We'll crash for 2 weeks at my dads place and then do a 2 week trip to visit family in DC and michigan. The annual xmas tour.

We get back to CO on the 31st, do new years and then another 2 weeks of chilling at my dads place till we fly to cambodia and start a backpacking adventure which will last at least 1 month and at most 5 months, depending on when the money runs. Gonna be a super fun adventure.

Grinding a lot more since I stopped my part time job where I was working on a website for a non profit. Now I've got another part time job doing database stuff at another non-profit, but I'm actually getting paid decent money for this one so that's nice. The other one was much more of a "out of the kindness of my heart" type of thing. Now I'm working less hours and making twice as much as I did at the other non profit, haha.

Less outside work means more poker grinding which has been awesome. Results have been meh, slight profit and nothing amazing, but I've never felt so good about poker. I enjoy it a lot and while I still have a long way to go, I've gotten quite good at eliminating tilt from my game. The biggest thing is that I can pretty consistently leave a poker session and feel happy no matter whether I win or lose. I feel pretty damn close to the same. When I know I had a big session I do get that excitement, but I've done a good job of toning that down. I don't want major highs from big winning sessions and major lows from big losing sessions. I want the same feeling for both since it's all about the long run and the session results really don't mean shit.

If you can dream–and not make dreams your master,
If you can think–and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with both Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same

I love that poem.

Anyway I just felt like doing a rambling blog post since I haven't been blogging much lately. I do want to blog more but since I've stopped doing posts of graphs I have less things to post about. Ever notice how most blog posts have a graph in them? I wanna try and just do 1 graph a year. Or maybe just every 100k hands.

Anywho, that's all for now. Bed time. Sleep well my LP friendly friends.

Legend of the Seeker
  k2o4, Nov 17 2009

So who's been geeking out on this show with me? C'mon, don't be embarrassed. If you clicked the blog title you probably either love the show (like me) or are curious about it, think it might be good.

Let's examine what this show is all about:

* Cheesy - Check
* Mediocre special effects - Check
* Main character that looks like Link from Zelda - Check
* Female lead who's boobs hang out often - Check
* Ugly old dude that looks like really could be a wizard - Check
* Sword fighting - Check
* Using magic in the story to create unique story lines - Check
* Hot blond girl in red leather who dominates you with a pain inducing dildo - Check

Let's confirm with some photo evidence:

"I'm the Seeker and I'm ready to kick some ass... hey, where's my boomerang? And why isn't Epona here, I need a ride to the castle to defeat Gannond... I mean Lord Raul!"

"I'm the lead chick and this dress is built for cleavage, though this picture isn't so flattering"

"Ahh, there we go, one of my better cleavage shots"

"I'm an ugly old SOB but I can burn you with Wizards fire"

"Ready to be beaten... and love it?"

When they were first premiering the first season of this show they did a live interview with the actors who were filming in New Zealand on like channel 2... it was a horrible interview but I think that helped cause in my pitty for them I got curious about the show. Watched the first few episodes and was reminded of the old Hercules TV show with Kevin Sorbo. It was ok, not great, and I stopped watching.

Then I was watching TV late one night on Sci-Fi and they were doing a Seeker Marathon, but they were doing the episodes in some crazy random order. And the later episodes were pretty good and the story had gone in directions I hadn't predicted. I got curious again. So I went and found it on netflix and watched all of season 1. Totally loved it despite all the ways it's cheesy and stupid.

Season 2 just started and I saw the first episode and damn, wtf, everything went real bad real fast. Definitely gonna keep watching.

Btw my GF thinks the show is extremely stupid but she watches it with me sometimes cause she's way too nice. lol

On that note, who else is with me? Who loves this show?

Cooler Check
  k2o4, Nov 16 2009

Had a solid weekend volume wise, mediocre results wise. Played a little over 9k hands. Had a heater on friday and then ran pretty crappy on saturday and sunday. Oh well, still made some money. Sat/Sun I lost about half the heater earnings, hah.

Just have a few hands that I am 99% sure are coolers but wanted some outside confirmation. I think it might be partly the need to have someone else go "yeah that sucks" heh. But I'd rather be sure I'm not spewing.

Hand 1:
+ Show Spoiler +

Hand 2:
+ Show Spoiler +

I also just made a few threads with real hand questions that I'd love some feedback on:

NL200 Bet vs Missed CBet?

NL200 facing cold 4bet

NL200 Barrell the turn?
