2008 lawl + graphs
edzwoo, Dec 31 2008
So, here's a long summary of 2008 with bullet points because I like bullet points
- Opened up a play money account on PokerStars for fun
- PokerStars sent me $5 free
- Came from tl.net and read all the beginners articles before I put my precious five real dollars on the line
- Grinded my roll up to $80 before donking off almost all of it.
- Re-grinded what I had up to $200
- Moved my roll to Full Tilt because I was like LOL RAKEBACK AND BONUSES
- FAIL but it's okay because I came out +$200 ish from rakeback and bonuses
- Had like $1 left on stars because I cashed out exactly $200
- Didn't redeposit my $400 from Full Tilt because I was getting tired of poker, but my friend started playing so I hero grinded my way back up to $200 via NL2, NL5 and $3-$5 SNGs in like a week LOL. Run good in micro-micros.
- Deposited $200 because of the PokerStars 2x promotion deposit bonus. Had about $500 now.
- Took a shot at NL25 even though you guys probably noticed I couldn't beat NL10 at Full Tilt.
- FAIL. That wasn't all at once; it's the entire time I played NL25 without the ability to beat it. I played SNGs in between as well to get my roll back up but I did end up dropping my roll to $150 at one point- FAIL.
- Regrinded my roll to ~$450 playing SNGs. Ran good.
- Donked around a bit again at NL25 and was slowly losing money, but around early November I was like "HAI LOWSTAKES FORUMS *flood threads*" and also analyzed every big pot I would lose.
- Fixed three huge leaks:
1. Peeling the flop to a cbet all the time because I figured they always had missed overcards, then fold or c/f to turn bet.
2. Stacking off TPTK or any overpair against anybody vs any action (adjust from NL2-NL5 LOL)
3. Weak value betting with nuts (e.g. halfpot or even less sometimes)
- Never looked back

Here's my lifetime graph in big blinds for amusement:
Goals for 2009:
Beat NL200 at 3ptbb or greater
Hit Supernova
100k
GL at the tables
Beating variance lol
edzwoo, Dec 28 2008
Switched gears to lawl 6max style because everyone was extremely weak tight today. Lol at my redline.
NL100 graphs so far:
NL100 isn't any harder than NL50 imo. Some of the tight regs are willing to throw in their stack as a bluff, but their frequency is terrible and they do it in the worst spots.
Brag hand of the day, villain is 10/6 with a reasonable 3bet:

What do you rate as good stats for NL.5/1 NL1/2 NL2/4
FR and 6max
VPIP and all AF on all streets.
can you make it a range too, ie between lower and higher extremities.
Thanks. |
FR id say 16/11/2.5 are fine at all limits +/- 3 vpip, +/- 3pfr are within normal range
6max id say 22/16/3 are normal, +/- 4vpip, +/-3pfr are in normal range

At least I can say with confidence I'm doing something right
Oh and from my recent blog posts while I was losing...

Life is easy being an SCV. It's great when you see donks. Here's what's been going up lately:

Silly downswings, your weapons cannot harm me!
Okay, it's hurting a bit now.
edzwoo, Dec 13 2008
Had I not made any mistakes, I'd say I could have saved about 4-5 buyins. People were never folding to my cbets, and when that starts happening, I try and double barrel more often. Problem is, people were actually catching cards non-stop vs me =/.
But yeah, stnd variance for the most part. I can feel that sick 10bi heater around the corner .
Downswing!
edzwoo, Dec 11 2008
Oops
Summary: 0/4 in flips and failed every single bluff when I thought people were weak.
This was the weirdest session in that everyone kept catching cards on the turn or were like superuser-ing me when I cbet with a missed hand.
Here are some hands:
Stnd superuser line by villain

50vp donk. River raise made me . Looks like didn't realize he minraised pre because I raised to 4x bb

Extreme nit with 1% 3bet range. 4bet range didn't exist until now

Awesome flop, odds to call flop?

Holy crap I am so bad for shoving this turn. WOWWWWWWW and I knew I had 0 FE, my hand just auto shoved it without thinking.

Gross river

70vp donk that made me valuetown myself.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/mytlnet/myhand.php?view=item&id=586175
You can look through my hands and see some other hands that look really stupid and spewy, but I really thought were correct. I got stacked with JJ on a Q high board vs AQ, but he played it way differently than the notes I had on him.
I also had another hand where a donk called and a flush draw completed on the turn and he minraised me, but for some weird reason I paid him off.
Wowwwwwww so I know exactly what my leaks are, but they never really hurt my game too much because I was running hot. I'm going to buckle down and change them now that I finally had a bad session.
Btw, my confidence in crushing NL50 and moving up to NL100 soon isn't affected at all; so don't feel pity for me. Please LOL at this blog post and move on .
Take shot or wait? + updates
edzwoo, Dec 10 2008
Okay so lets start off with the fun stuff, NL50 lifetime sessions and graphs:
So right now, I am really crushing NL50 and/or running extremely hot. Yes, you are reading my graph correctly; I haven't had a single losing session since I took my first shot. As you can see from the stats of my sessions, I started off playing my standard TAG game and doing well, but lately I've been opening up my range a ton. I'm running so hot that it really feels like I can play almost any two cards profitably.
I'm closing in on the bankroll I decided to take my shot at NL100 with, but would anyone disagree with me taking a shot so early? I mean, I'm very confident in my game right now, but I've only played 14k hands lifetime of NL50.
My style is extremely adapted to the regs at NL50, who I believe I can exploit very well (which is why my range opened up a ton), but I have no idea what kind of regs I'll be playing against at NL100. Although I do adapt, I'm certain my playstyle is very exploitable if a person were to pay close attention. I dunno how capable the regs at NL100 are, but that's just what I've been pondering over lately.
Anyways, GL at the tables.
lol another blog tourney thing
