Finished with nl 10

again. Last session was a nice nine tabling 700ish hand session which could have gone a bit better. I started off by stacking 3 different retards at 3 different tables, then my stack pretty much slowly dwindled down because of min-raised cbets, missed flops, missed draws, and one nasty set over set with 150bb stacks over the next 600 hands, managed to finish up 24$, damn good for less than an hour of half-assed play.

Really strange that this time I seemed to tighten up pretty dramatically as compared to last time I 9 tabled. I'm going to attribute it to small sample size though. AF stats were also a lot more how I like them, 9 flop, 1.5 turn, 8 river. I'm also negative with aa, qq, jj, tt, and marginally up with kk, so I'm pretty amazed that I ran at 11.53/100 over the miniscule 7k hands I played at 10nl. Yeah, I know it's a tiny sample and I can't draw many conclusions, just a little oddity I noticed. I'm not really sure why, I've definitely been chucking overpairs with discipline when faced with big aggression and all, maybe I'm either folding them too often or just running bad with them.

Tomorrow is going to be 25nl 2-4 tabling, I'm gonna have Jamie sweat me, since my lifetime winrate at 25nl is like 2.3/100 and I could clearly use the help, and I'd really not like to have to move up and down these two stakes 4950809 times.

9 Tabling 6 max games on stars.
  Drowsy, Sep 24 2007

I just attempted, and half succeeded 9 tabling on stars 6 max and mostly fast tables. It was intense as hell, got 700ish hands played in under an hour. I definitely won't be doing that again though, I'm up 2 buyins from the session, but I played pretty poorly, stacked off alot of times when I wouldn't have if I'd had more time to think, and played way looser and more aggressively. I shoved a 3 bet with aks against some 16/12 guy stupidly, and at the start of the session I misclicked and shoved jj overpair on the flop and lost to a set. I'd have thought that playing so many tables would naturally tighten me up, but it strangely had the reverse effect. Here's some stats and shit, these aggression factors are simply hilarious, though it's partially attributable to me raising the endless amount of minbets retards make on the flop.

Hopefully I can get back to a point where I can 8 or 9 table comfortably, I need to work back up to 6 consistently for now, that's about 500h/hour, and that's good enough for me. I'm still using a pirated copy of PT from when I started and was too poor to buy it, planning on buying it sometime this week as soon as I learn how to transfer my database and everything.

10nl Spewy McSpewerson.
  Drowsy, Sep 21 2007

10nl has started off great, I never had a run this good at it while I was on ftp, I definitely need to tone down my flop af a bit, c-betting too often with multiple villains on connected or suited boards and sometimes oop. I might be running a little too loose for these stakes, I think I'm around 23/18/5.5, with flop af breaking into double digits(!)

Generally the difference between ftp and stars is the amount of regs and the regular's quality. Usually there's only 1 tag/nit at each of my tables, and while they're annoying preflop, they've all got awful postflop play, they don't c-bet often enough if at all, give my c-bets way too much credit, try to c/r the turn anytime they have something tptk or better. Additionally they really don't 3-bet intelligently against other aggressive players, pretty much just aa-jj. Here's some stats.

Does anyone know how I can make afs show up on my main pt stats page? I should be moving up in 2k hands or so, but it sucks that I have to 4 table since there's always so many distractions living in a college dorm.

Restarting...
  Drowsy, Sep 19 2007

Well, it feels great to be back on stars nl10 after the 3 month hellhole that was ftp 25 and 50nl. I got started in poker after Jamie, my broodwar hero, directed me to a copy of No Limit Hold'em, Theory and Practice in December. It wasn't until late feburary and a great deal of studying and reading that I actually deposited 45$ on stars. Immediately applying what I'd learned from Grot's guide, forum advice, and T&P I managed to eat my way through stars nl2,5,10,25, playing full ring supernitty at like 13/10/4.5, and sometimes experimenting with 6 max, which I had been told was far more profitable, but my play was pretty static. I wasn't getting much better, nor were my winrates anything to boast about.

The shit really hit the fan and halted my poker progress around May. I switched to 6 max fully, did still pretty well on stars doing a mix of 25nl and 10nl until I had 600$. I decided to transfer my roll to full tilt for rakeback and the bonus and then things went south(and I didn't get the fucking rakeback because I'd already made a fucking account). I managed to donk off 5 buyins at 25nl over the course of a week, dropped to 10nl, struggled for a couple thousand hands, went back up to 25nl, dropped AGAIN, took an entire 2 weeks to grind my way to 650$ where I began playing 25nl again. As you might have guessed, I was doing really really badly at these stakes at full tilt, but I eventually pulled out a sad winrate of less than 2.5/100 bot of them and moved on up to 50, completely unprepared. There I struggled still more, moving up and down 25 and 50 a bunch of times and acheived a convincing winrate of .30ptbb/100 at 50nl over a pretty small 20k or so sample, and that was the end of my summer vacation.

I'd had a part-time job over the summer as a security guard at a waterpark, which I quit just before transferring to full tilt(lol). My mom was really pissed at this, especially considering I'd missed the due date to apply for the next semester's FAFSA loans. So at the end of the summer, she demanded I hand over part of my roll to pay part of my housing bill for university. Fortunately this convinced her I actually was making a comparable wage to my old job so she stopped viewing me as a degenerate, which was good, and I only had to pay 700 out of the 1800 bill, and this left me with 330ish$ to do what I pleased with, and 400$ from my job for college incidentals. So I took out the remaining 330 from ftp, put it on stars just in time for the reload bonus, and got started re-grinding my br yesterday!

So I'm in college, and only studying for 12 credits, the bare minimum to be considered full time student. This gives me plenty of time to play poker. 10nl is hideously easy on stars, I really think I can beat it at over 12/100 at least, on full tilt it was somewhat challenging oddly enough. I recall all the microstakes games on stars to be waaaayyyyy easier than the ones on full tilt to be honest, but I guess I'll test that out by how long it takes me to get from 10 to 50, since it took something like 130k hands on ftp and I couldn't even beat 50nl there. My only real goal in poker is to make enough money to pay off my student loans, if I manage to get out of college and have a full wallet, then all the better of course. I'm close to dead set that I'll be studying for an 8 year degree so this is gonna be a huge sum to be paying.

I know this blog entry was a boring block of text, hopefully I'll have something more interesting to bitch about in the next one.
