So lemme preface this by saying most HS regs would not post this type of shit.
I took a shot at the nosebleeds, and for the most part it went well except for today against Present, who soulcrushed me for 200k.
We started at 100/200, where i spotted NeverA sittout out vs this huge fish. I had to join the WL, and jump on several 100/200 tables to ensure I got this action. I had just listened to Phil Galfond, aka OMGClayAiken, aka the shit when it comes to HSNL, and heard him talk about how he took 2-4 shots before he stuck in the nosebleed NL stakes...well I figured this was my time as I am a huge fave against this massive fish...so it goes, he runs like God vs me and I lose 200k almost.
Oops I suck, the absolute value of my hand is too much to fold here but I know I'm beating basically nothing.

The previous day I was playing a huge fish at 500/1000LHE where he beat me up decently, then left, then came back to 1000/2000 where I dreamcrushed him after a 500 hand battle. Props to him for being degen enough to come back, but props to me for picking my spots and running with them. There is no way in holy hell I am not 650% better than Present, and I didn't really lose much to him and never completely spewed. So I will prob play him again this weekend and hopefully book a huge win. I was hoping to use my next 1.5 months profit to use as my live roll while I'm in Vegas for 6 weeks during the WSOP. I wanted to keep a certain amount online so I wouldnt have to worry about it. That may change with what has just transpired. However, if I run decent vs this clown I will soulcrush and prob win more than 200k as my style tilts him to no end. Here's to hoping I can have a winner every now and then.
Also I briefly played LP's own demigod P33achy_keen aka Eric Liu before this. I had class but decided to skip so I could play poker. It ended up being costly. What do I tell my teachers, oops I lost 200k while I shouldve been in class but actually dont care?

I still ended up on him but I'm still bitter as I thoroughly owned him all session long.
I guess I shouldn't be so bitter I'm still doing ok on the month:
This weekend I visited my parents; they are unsatisfiable...
Me: Check out how much I'm up on the year!
Dad: When are you graduating? You should try to get a finance minor, that way you'll get a good job when you graduate.
Me: Pretty sure I just made double your salary this month.
Both folks: STFU get a job or you fail life you bum.
From now on, if anyone asks, I run a capital management firm.
Related, I realized again how much I need to quit school. I'm no student, just balla.
That'll prob go over well with them.
We celebrated the holiday by going to the most legit restaurant in town tonight; I'm now a VIP there so ofc we get special menu from now on. The balla who drives a Maserati was so jealous of us.
Also, I can't talk about poker except in rant form. Fuck it.
And I promised 2 bracelets in the WSOP tonight also...I will take down the HU championship and also at least one 6max NL event. Also my stake swore upon his firstborn he will win the main event. I will retire after that on July 16th but will ball til I fall plz belive me.

OK so its 7:32AM and I have been up for 21 hours straight. I've been drunk since midnite so wtf why am i not tired?
Today I skipped class (obv) and posted up from like 2PM-12midnite, i played exactly 588 hands of poker and won like 12k. Now two tangents:
1) Winning alot of money online gets old so fast. I used to not appreciate the money I would make in one day of concerted efforts while grinding online, but I think the best remedy for that is to play live alot. This is because it is harder to grasp losing (and i suppose winning) whatever live when you are actually paid in cash. And you realize it is harder for people to put that money in on the stone-bluff when they can look you in the eye. I personally love playing live and would say I'm way better live than online but that is a beat point to make imo, as live players are never as fundamentally solid as online players, and havn't played enough hands to really judge anything. Also, I feel like people are at a disadvantage because I am already thinking of how people will react to almost everything that I do, so I know when to look for signs of weakness/strength etc etc. Basically the point I am trying to make is that, as a seasoned internet player, I know how the game flows, to a certain extent, and understand the variables well enough to know when specific instances in which they are in action, and how to counterstrategize vs this. Anyways, /rant. The value of that new money when you're stuck in Vegas is different, it becomes more rational to spend that new money on exorbitant things or a huge-ballin night in the club. But when I win online it's just a minor % change of a number. Not so balla imo.
2) Ugh I only recently realized that I have gotten dumber since high school. I used to be a spectacular writer but now I feel like I am pulling teeth trying to find the right words. I guess there is value in going to a real school so your skills can be honed. Case-in-point, this Thursday morning a drunken me learns that I have a midterm in my 400-level Environmental Econ class. Now, I've been to class twice since the first midterm, but w/e. So ofc I'm like wow I should go to bed and wake up early and study. So ofc I wake up 1hr before the exam and basically take it cold turkey, and def got in the top quartile, prob the top decile. I can't help but abuse these gifts, it seems. Now I suppose my decision to quit school is probably best for me at this point in my life because I potentially am an incredible student, but right now I just don't care for it. I'm not even close to reaching my potential in this arena, which in a sense pisses me off greatly. I think I should just come back when I can put more than 20% into it. One thing I am considering is applying to an actual good school at some point in the relative near-future, and using my poker career as the bulk of my resume. How do yall think that will go?
This blog post reminds me of the movie Babel, which I just watched. At the end, I couldn't help but think that the movie was just a bunch of randomly strewn together events with no real meaningful connection or intended purpose, except to make you sad maybe?
Well I guess I can't really feel like him, but what I do feel is certain and it has exciting implications. I think my headsup game has elevated to officially "the best" meaning I don't think there are more than 5 people that can beat me longterm. I really think this applies to both NLHE and LHE, partly because the best LHE players generally don't play nosebleeds for long (hello TLK and Bryce, I'll be joining you shortly in retirement.) But really, I feel my understanding of the game combined with the style I play just fit together so well that I have few exploitable weaknesses. Whatever, I'm not going to be explaining any more of that in depth as I don't care to create a blueprint on how to beat me.
Today I played a session of 100/200NL vs a two fish, and I think I played exceptionally. To elaborate, I feel like I fired 2 and 3 barrels with precision, and when I was caught it only helped to bolster my image. Therefore of all the plays I ran I was at least 90% effective, which is deadly. Some hands:
Almost my biggest pot ever, he bought in for 12k and I think this busted his acct, GG:

Anyhow, alluding to my title for this rant, I feel like my game is coming together with the precision that I saw when I watched PA vs Genius sometime in November, which was the best HU match I've ever seen. Unlike previous months where I've started strong and finished lackluster I am fully motivated to keep up my level of intensity during play and I can only hope the future is as bright as I'd like to believe.
Next time I will post about some milestones in the not-so-distant future.
GL at the tables,

After vowing last post to get into shape I have been eating 2x food/day (mostly unhealthy), not working out, and drinking lots of Guinness. Oops.
I don't normally give advice on here but here is a gem: A7os is the worst hand in poker. Just fold. This hand tilts me only a little bit:

For the record I've never won an allin pot vs this guy ever.
I don't know why I always start off the month so well but I'm not complaining. Lets hope the doomswitch can be lifted off me as I feel like I'm running awful right now. I must add it's nice to be up so much while this is the case, I wonder what this graph will look like when I string together consecutive winning days for the first time in too long.
Also I'm stoked bc we're going to Vegas for Spring Break during tourney time and there are going to be tons(??) of sports bettor donks up in Bellagio. Also there is talk of living in Barcalona for a month after the semester ends, and then living in Vegas during the WSOP. And also there is talk of getting some beachfront property in Hawaii after that which is exciting. My tentative plan is to quit school after this semester. I will have like 18 credits left to graduate and only 3 in my major, the rest are nonsense classes like European History and Spanish, nothing I really care to bother with at this time. So basically if i ever needed my degree I could get it within 6 months, but I don't want to waste any more time right now as I am not a good dutiful student right now so why should I even bother...I am not one to do things half-assed (generally) and that definetly describes how I go about classes now. I've been landlocked all my life and really would love to live on the ocean at this point in my life, so why not? Anyways, this is all stuff I have to consider, and hopefully make a wise choice. I am still young. School is lame. Future...what is that? God send me a sign in the form of a massive heater!!
OK so this past month I was insta up 200k+, then decided I had no motivation to play poker, then "refocussed" then apparently not as I am down multiple buyins and generally unhappy with my play. Here's a real disappointing graph of Feb:
Technically since i'm up 10k on stars which is not reflected in this graph, I made my first 100k month. It is now what i expect out of my next few months until I make a run at the nosebleeds.
I am not the type to be complaining about making such money in one month, but I am the type to be overly critical of my play and pissed when I am not winning. I effectively had a 15k hand breakeven streak which is super super I can't even describe how frustrating, and of course I'm thinking of ways to improve some aspect of my life that will hopefully help my poker game. So, I've come up with getting into better shape. Technically cliche, because every internet poker stud reps this, but I am beginning to realize the importance of this. So this month I am going to try to get back into shape for the first time in 3 years. This hopefully will a) get me on a semi-routine schedule as I have been going to bed between 4-8am and waking up at 1-5pm the past week or 2, and b) help my focus during long, difficult sessions. Outwardly I don't appear to be in bad shape but it's getting close. Time to choose life, I suppose.
I haven't posted any hand recently, because I'm lazy or havn't had any noteworthy sessions...so here are some selects:

Ok so taking a break is for sure beneficial, I'm really glad I did because now I'm really refocused and ready to go. This is my results ever since I've started back:
This was HU limit with Boosted J, Big Grapes and Kenny Tran, and 25/50NL HU with Pr1nnyraid, very solid opponents. I'm really playing well and I think I can keep it up. This has been my best month ever and I'm going to try to grind a bit more before I head to LA for the weekend to play at Commerce. There should be some interesting hands this weekend as there are ton's of people in town for the LAPC main event...
GL,
Franchise
No, I'm not about to retire, but the subject has been on my mind for the last few days...why do people who go on sick sick runs (e.g. TexasLimitKing and Freedom25) just flat-out quit playing after a prolonged winning streak?
I have been playing HU limit holdem lately, and as you can see I've been having excellent results, even without that much experience. I think HU LHE is a facinating, non-stop action game where a strong fundamental and mathematical background are the key elements to a winning game. That certainly caters to my strengths as a poker player so I suppose it wasn't really surprising that I'd make a smooth transition from HU NLHE, but still I think my results are even too good to ignore. Back on point - the past couple of days I've felt for some reason that I was about to face an impending huge downswing for some reason, and thus have been playing a bit passive and gunshy...I dunno, it's hard to explain, but I really don't feel motivated to play. Yesterday I definetly noticed I wasn't playing well, and since I could see this coming in a sense, I did the smart thing: cashed a bunch of my money out and resolved not to play any limits of consequence for a while until my head is back in the game. Which is kind of like retirement. So ya, even though I've been playing incredible poker, the waiting for hours at high limits awaiting challengers, the stress of the actual playing, and the anxiety associated with keeping up that high level of play all wear on people, myself included, and it's easy to understand why people quit after beating up their opponents for a short while. Once they proved to themselves that they were able to play like that, they became content; the money was merely a side-product of their efforts.
I'm going to play low, meaningless stakes for a while until I get hungry enough to play my best, then go back at it at the nosebleed limit and HSNL games. Wish me luck.
