Can't find the sweet spot. Running overall crappy and am having trouble sitting down and focusing on poker. Keep playing too many tables and auto-piloting. ;alskjfd

Very demoralized in terms of poker right now. Played 2 stupid sessions today. Dunno wtf is wrong. Been having many more losing than winning sessions lately and I think it's starting to beat me down. Been playing NL100 instead of NL200 most of the time but that's not helping much.

It's annoying cause I already know what to do and have solutions to all these problems but don't feel like implementing em. That's a bad state of mind to be in.

To try and cheer up I'm gonna watch funny stuff for a bit. Here's the Bruno Trailer which gives good lols

new SNL short, like a boss, hahahahaha

lazy sunday, lmao. I love these shorts where they do hardcore rap style songs about nerdy shit, hahaha. If you don't listen to the words a lot of the songs they do sound like top songs in the genre they're aiming for. this one is great:

People punched before eating, rofl, what a weird ending

Quadruple Posting
  k2o4, Apr 06 2009

So there's someone new to the LP forums who likes to triple, quadruple and even quintuple post in pretty much every thread or blog he visits. Maybe I'm just old school but I believe in the "edit" button, and asked that person to use it after they've been spamming my blog with a million posts which usually are just there to share a link to something about Ron Paul. I don't think that's unreasonable... do you?

Well he sure did and I got this response:

  On April 05 2009 22:40 ToTehEastSide wrote:
lol how surprising something like this is your retort
that is, very feminine of you... are you my interior decorator?
no but really, you just don't get it do you k2o4
how I post with my account here should be absolutely zero concern to you
there is no need for you to worry about or even bring up such things
but if that's all you can come up with in a response then hey...keep trying to tell me what to do I guess

if my outlook was even remotely like yours I would say "well why don't u edit ur blogs instead of making three different ones a day"
but that's nowhere near my frame of mind and I don't even care about such silly stuff at all

I tell you what, you do what you want, and I will do what I want
and if u become an admin here then you can play LP's Obama and tell me how I should post - give me a two post limit
until then piss off - I'll post how and what I want
and if you don't like it then be even more gay, this is your blog, ban me

if you'd like to know what I do recommend for you, I'd recommend spending your time and energy actually responding to something I actually post then how I post it
oh and to reiterate what that is...what I am saying is I do not think Congress should have passed these bailouts AT ALL and I do not think Obama should be telling CEOs how to run companies or banks

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." Thomas Jefferson

TAXES ARE THE LABOR OF THE PEOPLE

Uh huh. I wrote this in response to him:

  lmao

ok, keep doing everything you can to increase your post count and make your e-dick seem bigger =)

Dude I've stopped replying to you most of the time cause you say the same thing over and over and I thought we both agreed that we disagreed so there seemed to be no point in saying anything. Plus you basically just blast lots of ron paul promotion and I've already told you how I feel about him so again, nothing new to say. I did mention the multi-posting cause it's just annoying and bad forum etiquette, and I'm sure there's plenty of other people who feel the same way. Asking you to stop quadruple posting has nothing to do with Obama. Way to overreact and make yourself look even stupider than you already look... which really is an amazing feat to accomplish.

All that took place in this blog post: http://www.liquidpoker.net/blog/viewblog.php?id=710358

Let's get the general public in on this:

Poll: Which statement do you agree with?
(Vote): Triple and Quadruple posting in every thread is AWESOME
(Vote): Stop spaming you moron

Now I've never banned anyone from my blog and I really hope that I never have to. I hate censorship and would rather allow people who totally disagree with me an opportunity to tell me why so that even if I think they're wrong, at least I'm hearing the other side. Often this can lead to intelligent conversations and learning. These are good things. So if you're thinking "why make a blog about this? Just ban him and he won't spam your blog anymore" then I hope you now understand why I don't want to ban him. Hell I didn't ban wakeboarder during the election so I can't be banning this poor guy.

Religious Right Quits?
  k2o4, Apr 05 2009

I found an interesting article today about a movement within the religious right which wants to quit politics. It's weird to see this after the last 20 years where the right wing Christians did everything they could to take over the Republican party and legislate their beliefs onto the rest of us. I always hated that shit and it made me pretty aggressive towards Christians. I always try my best to remember that not all Christians are morons like these fakers who are trying to mix church and state, but it can be hard at times.

So I personally think this is a great idea. Not only cause it would mean I wouldn't have to be so angry at the idiotic right wing Christian assholes anymore, but also cause I personally think it would do so much more to help build Christianity. It's weird cause I have so much animosity towards some Christians, but I share a lot of values and beliefs with the vast majority of Christians. I also know that there are lots of great Christians doing amazing work to help the world and they're motivated to do so by their belief in Jesus and god and so on. And I think that's fucking awesome. I'd love to see more of that in the world.

http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2009_04/017609.php

If people who call themselves Christians want to see any influence in the culture, then they ought to start following the commands of Jesus and people will be so amazed that they will be attracted to Him. The problem isn't political. The problem is moral and spiritual.... You have the choice between a way that works and brings no credit or money or national attention. Or, a way that doesn't work that gets you lots of attention and has little influence on the culture.

That makes sense to me. I feel like these right wing mega-preachers and so on lose all credibility cause it's clear they're either in it for the power, in it for the money, or total hypocrites who gay bash while they are closet fags and so on. If the preachers and the followers of Christianity really lived by what Jesus taught then I would be much more impressed with the religion and much more open to giving it a try. I'd also prefer that people stop interpreting everything Jesus said in a slanted way that allows them to hate on people (like hating on gays), but that's another debate. hehe.

On another note, I'm gonna repost a blog I wrote about my Vegas plans cause it was totally missed and I wanna make sure that you Vegas dwellers know I'm coming!

There are some work conflicts though. I'm working on a new website for my job and we're supposed to launch sometime this summer. We might launch in may and then I'll be able to be in town for the beginning of the WSOP at the beginning of June. In that case I'd do 1 week in vegas, then head back to CO. If the trip went well I'd come back for the main event in July and bring the lady.

But there is a possibility that we'll end up launching in June and if that happens then I'll just have to miss out on the beginning of the WSOP and only come out for the 1 week during the main event.

Either way I'm definitely coming. I'm going to fly for the first trip and when my girl comes with me I want to drive it so we can hit up some fun stuff along the way in utah and arizona.

I guess the only other thing that might throw a wrench in the plan is if I somehow manage to downswing really painfully and lose my roll or have to play NL50 / NL100. Right now I'm able to be on NL200 so that gives me a bit more monetary freedom. Plus I will be rolled for cash games in vegas.

The big thing I have to do now is start practicing playing live. I suck at it and have a lot to learn and just need to put in the hours =)

I am Crab
  k2o4, Apr 05 2009

Or at least that's what someone on 2p2 says of me. Someone asked about me in the PS regulars thread:

  Roadsweeper wrote:
Yo guy, im new to stars and was testing out my HUD and stuff on 100nl and was playing a few hands.

You guy every play with k204? Thoughts?

and 43forty replied with:

Then some other guy:

  dstazy100 wrote:

lol. This all comes about because Maynard posted about how someone wants to HU PAV for bankrolls and linked to a 2p2 thread about PS regs. I never check 2p2 though I do have an account there, and while looking at that thread I wondered if anyone ever said anything about me on 2p2. I did a search and there were a few hits, the quoted post above which was the funniest. I think he meant crap but maybe he just thinks I'm a total crab.

So who is dstazy100 on 2p2? I guess we're semi-friends.

On a side note I watched starwars episodes 1-3 today while playing poker. 1 episode per session. What I realized is that it's really easy to play while watching episode 1 cause the entire movie sucks except for like maybe 5 minutes of it. Episode 2 is a bit more difficult cause about 50% of the movie is good and there's some good action scenes that you don't wanna miss, but the other 50% is at best "meh" which means "decent" and at other times "puke" which means "horrible" (I'm thinking of anything having to do with the horribly written love story when I say puke). But then comes Episode 3, which is impossible to watch while playing poker cause pretty much the entire movie is pure pwnage from beginning to end. I had to stop the session before the movie ended so I could properly watch the Obi-wan vs anakin and yoda vs sidius closing battles. Fucking epic end to a movie.

I've never watched episodes 1-3 in 1 day before. That was fun. Plus it worked for getting me to grind more - 5.8k hands for today =)

k2o4 got his grind back
  k2o4, Apr 04 2009

Still not checking the BR so I have no idea how I've done, but at least I'm back to playing lots of hands. Logged about 1.5k yesterday but stopped cause my second session I ran like total ass and I think I lost like 5 buyins really fast. Today I used an old trick - watching a movie. I ordered starwars episode 1-3 on amazon a week or so ago and the DVD's arrived yesterday, so today I watched episodes 1 and 2 while grinding. That got me to do 2 nice long sessions and log 4.5k hands so far. Planning to do at least 1 more session and probably will watch episode 3 while I do it.

It's nice to be playing a lot of hands again. I think I'm doing pretty well today but I have made a few mistakes (like calling bigrobs river overbet shove when I knew I should fold). Overall there's a lot of fish though which has allowed me to win quite a bit. Been grinding 6-16 tables, though trying to hang in the 8-10 range. Sometimes too many waitlists hit at the same time and then it takes a while to sort out which of the new tables are worth keeping and which to ditch.

I'm aiming to check the BR 1 time a week which will usually be sunday night/monday morning. Hopefully I'll have a good week logged once I do that =) At least I'll have a lot of hands and hopefully a lot of FPP!

Water, No Ice
  k2o4, Apr 03 2009

lol found a fun article with some details about the mtg Obama had with the heads of the banks at the white house a week or so ago. Some stuff in here made me smile:

“My administration,” the president added, “is the only thing between you and the pitchforks.”

There were signs from the outset that this was a business event, not a social gathering. At each place around the table sat a single glass of water. No ice. For those who finished their glass, no refills were offered. There was no group photograph taken of the CEOs with the president, which typically happens at ceremonial White House gatherings but not at serious strategy sessions.

“The only way they could have sent a more Spartan message is if they had served bread along with the water,” says a person who attended the meeting. “The signal from Obama’s body language and demeanor was, ‘I’m the president, and you’re not.’”

According to the accounts of sources inside the room, President Obama told the CEOs exactly what he expects from them, and pushed back forcefully when they attempted to defend Wall Street’s legendarily high-paying ways.

Good weekend
  k2o4, Mar 30 2009

So decided to check my results finally while reviewing a bunch of hands. Definitely had some stupid mistakes but the vast majority of my losing hands were coolers/beats with a few really tough spots where I'm not sure what to do. Overall I feel pretty happy with how I played. Also glad to see that my losing sessions were all very short while my winning sessions were all very long =) Had a huge day on friday and won 1.6k. Saturday I lost about $900 in 2 shitty sessions. Today I won about $400 so that puts me at a $1,100 profit for the weekend. Not bad. BR back over 9k. That's nice too.

Overall failed on mass grinding this month, mostly due to slacking in the first 14 days or so. Made up a lot of ground in the last 2 weeks though and am at about 30k hands for the month. Hoping to get 40k-50k next month. Now that I've got this new system I think I'm gonna be playing a lot more hands and having some pretty good results =)

I'm definitely happy with how I've been doing poker. Handled a downswing pretty well. Definitely could have been better but it helped me develop this new systems and address problems that I really needed to face, like playing short winning sessions and long losing ones. Obviously nothing is "fixed" yet but I'm on the right path and I feel like if I keep trucking along in this direction and following the rules and plans I set for myself, that I will have a lot of success.

About 6 months ago I was hoping to be rolled for and comfortable @ NL200 by march. Well march is coming to an end and I am rolled for NL200 and very comfortable with it, so that's a nice feeling =) I figure the next month will be a big NL200 focus. Might turn into a big downswing, or a big upswing, not sure, but overall my goal is to get a 100k hands of NL200 played with a winning bb/100 so that I feel good about playing and beating the limit. Of course if I upswing I'll mess around on NL400 a bit but I don't think I'm going to make a full attempt to become a reg there until I've got enough NL200 experience. I'm sure there's still plenty for me to learn.

As for BR checking, I think I'm gonna wait till next sunday night or monday morning to check it again. I like the idea of seeing a week at a time cause that's a better "long run" view rather than the session by session results which is so damn short run.

weird return to poker
  k2o4, Mar 29 2009

Took mon - thurs off which was awesome. Felt really good to let myself be free of poker and have some days where I didn't feel a pressure to play. Started up again on Friday and felt like I ran really good. Still doing the don't check the BR thing so I dunno how much I won but I'm pretty sure I won a solid amount cause there was some heaterish shit going on. Yesterday I played in the morning and ran horrible so stopped right away. Played again later in the night and had a break evenish session and then started to run bad so I quit. Today kind of the same story - felt pretty break even and then started to run bad so I quit again.

I've totally eliminated the desire to check my BR/winnings after every session. That's a very good feeling, cause after winning or losing I'm feeling pretty close to the same. And the results at the poker table have stopped having such a huge affect on the rest of my life. I used to be on a huge high when I'd had a winning session but if I'd had a shitty session I'd be moody. There's still some swing in emotion but it's very very small now and I'm pretty close to level after every session. I think my GF is pretty happy about that =)

I've also started playing much longer sessions while winning and shorter ones while losing. The fact that I'm not paying attention to how much I won/lost per session has made it easier to grind longer when I feel like I'm running good and playing good. I used to get a strong desire to quit after winning 2-3 buyins cause I wanted to be able to look at that green profit in HEM after the session. That feeling still comes up but I've been able to beat it down and keep grinding and make even more profit. Pretty sweet.

So overall I have no idea where my BR is - probably somewhere between 6k and 10k, lol. But I'm playing pretty well and enjoying poker a lot more than I have in a long time.

I'm also very hooked on farcry2. such a fun game. I just made it to act 2 and + Show Spoiler +

.

Question for anyone who's played farcry 2:

1) What's the diamond + # in the upper left hand corner of the map mean? Is that how many diamond cases are left in that area of the map?

2) I lost my ability to do missions at the arms trader and unlock weapons. I was still able to do missions at the cell towers and mikes bar. I dunno if I fucked something up or if I just had done all the missions that they were willing to give me at that point. It's weird cause I went in and they said I could unlock some shit if I did a mission and I didn't accept the mission, and after that I never got offered another one. Bugged me cause I was trying to unlock as many weapons as possible but wasn't in the mood to blow up a truck at the time.

3) Is there a big difference in the campaign if you choose different characters? Like right now I'm marty but if I go and pick someone else and start a new campaign, will they just redo all the same stuff with the new character or will the story change?
