Recovery like Pikachu in PokeCenter
killmepl, Nov 20 2009
Shit 3k hands from 2pm to half past midnight, but this session was on great plus.My roll recovered from big drop.
Sad thing that my studies take most of my time that was reserved for poker, so november goal of 30+k hands is impossible.
Good (for me at least) thing is that I'm doing pretty interesting program as project for Real-time System Programing. I am going to make weather model program (not as complicated as normal ones that runs on supercomputers) with all this shit, which I can't talk about because I don't know English that much.
I have to do another project - pneumatic gripping device - with technical drawings and this sort of shit.
At last my studies are getting interesting :D
Tomorrow will be another grinding session.

Stay tuned!
Good start of november :/

October&November
killmepl, Oct 31 2009
Goals for October were:
[] +50k hands
[X]+$100 profit
[1/2]more faith in my game
I played 27,3k hands, with profit of $133 (current bankroll:$260). Played little SnG just to see what it is with slight income.
My faith in my game went up a little, but at some point on my session I always get too result oriented, have to work on that in future.
Also +50k hands in a month is unreal, which is obvious to me now. I play mostly from thursday till sunday, so 50k hands divided by ~14days gives ~3,5k hands. Impossible for me, I can't stand more than 2k hands (I play 4 tables) without quality of my game dropping drastically.
Anyways pretty much good month - doubled my bankroll, didn't fallen from nl10 yet.
November goals are very similar to October ones:
[] +$100 profit
[] +30k hands
[] less looking on cashier while playing
I think thats it for now. Have fun and good luck at the tables.
Stay tuned.
nl10: fourth encounter
killmepl, Oct 24 2009
I have another nl10 session on Friday.
First 1,5h I played 4 tables of nl10 but I was very stressed so switched two tables down to nl5 and it was good decision.
Nl5 is limit which I know, and two tables of it gave me confidence on nl10.
For like ~500 hands I was -30 and when I started two table nl10 in the end I was +30.
My best hand was:

I flat 3b because SB guy is a nit and with his range I'm either crushed or flipping. Guy on BB was calling station and I wanted to keep him in the pot.
I call the flop because I wanted him to keep betting with 99+ or AQ, with another AK I chop, so this calling-station guy will give me profit.
On turn it is the end 257BB pot was mine.
From this hand my session turned from shit to pretty good.

Friday night + micro stakes = ?
killmepl, Oct 16 2009
equals +10bi.
0wning.
2k hands in 4-5hours of non-stop playing. I'm exhausted, but it was worth it.
I move up tomorrow - nl10 second encounter. I will be playing at my homies so it will be another 0wning game.
[not very interesting part]
It's interesting that when I play I rarely feel tired. My mind concentrates on game at higher level then earlier. As I wrote last time - recording my game is working for me very well. I don't have that much free space on my HDD to record myself every time I play, also watching myself playing is boring (really really really boring), so I will record from time to time to teach myself concentrating on game.
Half of month passed, with today session I played 15k hands. Bye bye October goal to make 50k hands, but I will try to play as many as possible.
[/not very interesting part]
I pm'ed to register in avatar lottery. Maybe something good will come from this.
Stay tuned.
There is thin line between love and hate
killmepl, Oct 13 2009
Yup, on one hand I loooove russian micro players on the other utg limp/call c/c c/c c/c with 52o J22Ax yup fun.
My classes started - more interesting than the other year. Electronics and programing - good stuff.
Last few days I bounced off from a bottom and played 11k hands till today.
Running like 5.6 blind/100h (dunno which bb or BB is for big blind ), so step by step I'm going forward.
[txt 'bout rl]
It would be nice if I could get a scholarship, but I don't know how yet how to divide the time between sudies and pkr. Scholarship is like 450PLN ~ $160 /month for year, so for now it would me more profitable to study more than play, but if I play more, faster I will beat supermicro shitstakes and start playing nl25 and higher.
As for now, my plan is to play poker when I can, and when exams will start, to really really really study hard.
[/txt 'bout rl]
I started to record my sessions. What I can say - I concentrate better on session because I don't want to mess anything up so no reading LP and no play with winamp and most importantly no checking cashier every five minutes when playing.
When done playing, I review vid first, take notes, then will discuss with friends. I think it will give me something to my game.
current br: 159
hands till now : 11150/50000

September
killmepl, Sep 30 2009
Last month of summer break.
Tomorrow I go to my studies, shit :/
It's been shitty month really.
Down swing killed me, but hopefully new month will replenish this curse and I can play with profit.
For whole summer break (mid-June to end of September) I think I'm break even or slightly down, but not too much /using pt2 so no human looking graph/ probably like -10$.
So not that horrible.
Goals for October are:
[] +50k hands
[] +$100 profit
[] more faith in my game
Oh, and new idea- I will keep track here on my br to some day look and say "haha long ago I had 1/10 of my big blind" or so.
Ok, It's 1am here and I have classes at 8:30am...
Stay tuned.
P.S. House is fckn awesome and latest season of Heroes might not be bad...

Forgot to write: current br = $127
Frustration
killmepl, Sep 25 2009
(look out! whine post ;( )
OK, so I sat down on table, guy on my left open-shove like 6-7 of 12 hands. I'm on big blind, 4folds, guy shove, I have AcKs. Little me says "Oh god yes yes yessss", call. He shows As3h.
flop comes 378ss. omg.
Some hands later. 2 guys logged out - guy on my left stacked one with KTs on AA (flop Kxx, and rivered K), second one had 44 (vs guys 55).
Guy open-shove to me again, I with my AJ had edge on him. (Range that i give him here is kind too tight for him, because he shoved 93 one too, and there were shoves that everybody folded)
equity
Hand 0: 59.369% { AJo }
Hand 1: 40.631% { 22+, A2s+, K2s+, A2o+, K2o+, Q7o, JTo }
I showed AJ he 99, no J, no A.
Last couple of sessions (except that one I brag about last post) is just armageddon for my br. If I hit something villain have better (set over set for most of the time) or I dont get any action, but for most of the time I dont hit anything :/ I know that AK is only connector pf, but fck, nearly 20times when I got that no A nor K on board :/ Didn't won with pocket pairs like for eternity :/
That is sooooo frustrating.
When I started this blog it was my milestone from ~$20 to $200. Had $250 some time ago. I didn't change my game, not played after booze nor drugs. Not playing when tilted or ill (except play money but it doesn't cout). My game is crappy - I know - that's why I play nl2-5-10 and not nl2k-5k-10k, but for the stakes that I play it was profitable.
Is this a swing? Or is it my lame game made that I lost half of my roll. Or both?
I'm learning from pretty good players every single time I go to see them. I'm watching videos. I'm reading LP every day. And playing nearly every time I have free time.
So I'm improving, right? RIGHT?
If it is just a normal swing (i never had one ever) then omg, poker is horrible.
If it go even more like that, I will have to move down again to nl2 :/ and I don't want that :/ I am capable of doing that, for me it's no shame to play nl2, but if I can hold up nl5 I will try.
This whole thing is frustrating me so much, that I don't know if I'm sane now at the moment.
But it will pass, I hope.
Oh, and (maybe it's lame) I hoped that I could try "Avatars lottery" on LP but on "Poker Bonuses" section it disappeared.
Besides poker, today is my final exam :/ Maybe it will go better than poker. I hope.
Stay tuned.
moved down
killmepl, Sep 16 2009
So last couple of sessions made my br smaller... std things like AA vs KK, KK vs AA, KK vs QQ etc.
Moved down, hello again nl5.
And when I moved, it was like "WTF LOL this game is easy".
1,6k hands later...
and other two tables ~200bb each.
Today I played like 1k-1,5k hands but not so impressive, more like Lady Luck wanted to balance things up.
I'm looking forward to move up to nl10 before end of September.
On Friday I have exam so no poker for two days.
Stay tuned.
Bankroll management
killmepl, Sep 09 2009
Today, I wanted to tell you about bankroll management that I use.
It's nothing special I think, but from what I have read many beginners have problem with that.
To move up a to a new limit I need 20 bi (buy-in) of that limit.
It's good number for two reasons:
* You can make it fast
* It's enough for comfortable play at new limit
BM is not only about when you go up, but it also tells you when to move down, to rebuild yourself. It is very important to know when to move down.
I have strict rule (maybe too strict) that I move down if I have 18bi of my limit.
This amount gives me comfort that when I move down I have only to make 4/6 bi to return to higher limit.
These rules of mine are basic BM for micro stakes. Personally I will stick to them to nl100. My plan for higher limits is to move up with 25-30-40 bi of new limit, because higher limits means bigger aggression factor means more swings, so more bi will reduce pain of swing. Also amount of moving down will increase to maybe something like 20-30 bi.
My rules for medium stakes are for now in alpha version. I never played medium stakes yet, so I will reconsider them when I move up.
As for now, my BM works good, maybe it is too cautious but, as I wrote earlier on blog I have time to move up and I don't want to gamble.
Hope this help someone
Stay tuned.
