Failing & running bad
  piratematerial, Sep 18 2009

wanted to do an update even in tougher times nothing to worry about. my shots at 200nl are not going well and at the same time i started them i totally crashed down from my HIGH in 100nl HU. all crappy variance. i mean i don't game select too much at 100nl but i do quit when -3 buyin and mostly im just swimming with the fishes. and getting HIT AND RUN a TON, that always really hurts me, because at the start of a match i think some fishes take advantage because they are either way too agressive, running you over untill you realize that they are way too agressive OR being way too nitty and after a while you realize they are only getting it in with the goods but just as you acquire your reads and are ready to turn on CRUSHMODE... they are -----

i think it's mostly variance. for awhile i was running really good at 200nl 6max but that came back to a more normal level and now i'm only up 1/2 a buyin in the 6max department so it's not really compensating anything.
i played it a little bit because what i don't like about moving up in HU is that you get deepstacked very easily and it's very important that you play fearless and well when it get's a little deeper. That's pretty tough to do though when you are moving up. In 6max you don't get deepstacked as easily so it's a more gradual way of moving up. (on a side-note: OMG there are so many shortstackers!!!! this was definetely not the case last year, and a lot of them aren't so bad it's really annoying!!!)

ofcourse everytime you take a shot your regular game comes to pieces right at that time!

i'm still up for the month like 20 or 30 buyins at 100nl and yesterday i shipped 4th place in a small tourney for $800 so i'm still overrolled for 200nl and recent results don't worry me in the least. hope to have a chance to turn it around in the weekend. but right now i'm going to drink some beers and later tonight i have a nice party so not today. thnx for reading & check out the 200nl video i did a few blogs back.

Peace

200nl 6max video
  piratematerial, Sep 16 2009

If you read my blog lately you heard about how many problems i had in recording a video. Even though i got some very nice footage. I haven't given up though. I made a 6max video at 200nl. It wasn't easy to do, english isn't my native tongue as you will find out and going through your thought process while playing is harder then it appears to be if you hear CTS do it

i hope to do more and will try do make them of increasingly better quality. There are a few interesting spots in the video of 2 and 3 barreling, whether to do it or not to do it. And i manage to pretty much fuck them all up so enjoy , it's about 40mins long.

More or less fit!
  piratematerial, Sep 14 2009

More or less fit again! So a good time to write up a short blogpost while drinking a cup of nice hot tea. I got sick on friday. Caught some fever or something. Kept me from destroying the 100nl games and trying to move up this weekend Have been sleeping a ton at my folks home back south. So annoying and boring to be ill.. Will return to the urban north today. Watched the $25k HU event a little bit. Play was really good as far as i could tell. Some really long matches. I think in the final hand Sifosis was just too tired to get way from this.

megaupload help
  piratematerial, Sep 12 2009

sorry about the huge FAIL trying to get my video up. i have a premium account at mega-upload now and uploaded the video twice. but what megaupload does it makes the video streaming with a quality that prevents you from from seeing any details other what colour the holecards are.. :S

i tried uploading it zipped in a rar file but now megaupload doesnt provide me with a download link.

after that i had to leave to visit a friend in another city and to visit my parent's hous e in the south of the Netherlands. And i got sick. I have a minor fever i think. Just slept all day and am already tired typing this up.

i can't make any promises since this computer stuff (camtasia, megaupload, rapidshare) is really tilting me) but Nolan was so cool as to play me HU at my level to help me out a little. and i actually recorded it and will put it up if i find a way to add audio to it(another camtasia fail).

so sorry to let you down and if you have any ideas of what i'm doing wrong let me know.

100NL HU video
  piratematerial, Sep 10 2009

made a 40 minute video of me playing headsup vs a regular at 100nl. it's basically the first video i ever made that didn't get fucked up in some way. BUT give me a break, it's far from perfect. if i make another one it will be much better. Also i didn't do the greatest job at processing my thoughts realtime in english. in part because i felt a little stupid talking to myself about poker

hope you enjoy it and plz if you spot any leaks or disagree with how i play a hand let me know by all means!

cheer up!
  piratematerial, Sep 10 2009

my heater kind of ended and i think i hit a small downswing. down 10 buyins or something over the last couple of days. running into the line i hate most of all lines villains take; the call call pot line
shots at 1-2 are not going well so far. im pretty sure it's due to running bad.
this is always good to cheer up though;

too bad some posts are just too unbelievable.

BAM wide awake at 6:00
  piratematerial, Sep 08 2009

Barely slept the two night before this one. Maybe 2-4 hours eacht night, with the WCOOP going on i put in a lot of hours. I decided i wasn't going to play any poker today and drink and have fun and maybe hit the sack early. So today i setup a nice BBQ five friends on the courtyard that our house is adjacent too. Got a nice piece of beef and threw it on there and it turned out really well. Chickenwings and sausages and some fish packages also worked well. We had lots of wine and beer.

My cousin and her boyfriend decided to get their boat. it's a small motorboat, but it can fit 6 people though its kind of cosy. We took a few bottles of wine and the remaining sixpack and toured the canals by night. Even though i still want to move back to Amsterdam in the next few months, i have to admit it was really beautifull. This is what it looks like, only trees are looking way better now cause they still have all their leaves since it's summer.

when we reached a plaza with lots of bars we got a table on the plaza. the night was really warm and we had a lot more beers there. at about 3:00 we returned home and i was ready to sleep like a baby.

6:00 BAM it's fucking six o'clock now. i'm wide awake. i'm too hot to sleep and just to awake. there is no use lying in my bed thinking i want to sleep

sometimes i think it's poker messing with my sleep schedule. even though i'ts going well i have a hard time sleeping. perhaps it's the adrenaline from playing mostly Headsup poker.. i really have no idea. Wonder if any of you feel like poker messes with your body's biological clock.

recap of the WCOOP so far. i played in the $105 2nd chance 6max event, the $105 NLHE event, the 215$ Limit event and the $500 2 day event. My best result was in the 2nd chance where i got like 177th. Didn't cash in any of the others. Which is a little dissapointing. I was especially looking forward to playing in the $500 event. At first it went really well within one hour i tripled my stack to 30k.
Then i fell back a little with a small failed bluff and some standard pots i didn't win. Overall i was really active. Attacking the weak spots on the table a lot and 3betting and squeezing quite some. My 3bet stat was at 15% and we played several hundred hands by now. The exact hand before this one i succesfully squeezed another time. When this hand came up:

villain was 15/8 and i didn't tangle too much with him. As he usually wasn't in the pot. I felt really gross about this spot because it was with this guy. In my opinion all other factor's; my image, the positions and recent history say fistpump get it in except that it was with exactly this guy at the table. this hand keeps haunting me. Should i have laid it down to his 4bet? Why do i pay off a fucking predictable nit? Tell me what you think of this hand :s Maybe it will give me some peace.

Thnx for reading.

Time for a new goal?
  piratematerial, Sep 06 2009

on August 5 i set myself the goal to make 10bb/100 in HU by max 2 tabling from then on. Before that i had a 70k sample of HU on this computer making 3bb/100. Since then i played about 40k hands and these hands almost pulled the entire sample to 10bb/100 So Jujj!

Very happy with these results as they reflect last year's results and i thought i had improved since then. Now i've got something to show for. But still i've been running good lately. So i'm taking that in consideration. Taking carefull shots at 200nl now.. If i lose a few buyins i go back to 100nl because the most important thing to me right now is my confidence and mindset. If i feel good i will be taking shots. Fairly sure i could just dive in as i have been a regular there last year but i'm feeling so good right now. This works for me. Taking it slow.

Although i haven't succeeded in my goal to make 10bb/100 at 100nl in a definite way i feel i should raise the bar and set a new goal:

Beating 200nl for 10bb/100 over a 20k sample will give me something to work on for awhile. Because im taking shots only now and then, and starting with a big negative after my first 1k hands i feel this will be a nice one?

Not very creative though. If you have suggestions for good goals i could set that would help me to improve, your input is appreciated.

time for graphs and reports:
