.. to play 6 4 hours of poker a day for the rest of my life the year.
Maybe I'll make it less when the new monitor arrives and I can play more tables, but this is getting ridiculous, a new low point discipline wise. Probably not played more than 9k hands this month, and less than 6k of those were at the 2/5.
I should probably get an excell sheet or something setup and document everything to help me make sure I do this and mark days off etc..
4 hours of 4 tabling should allow me to get in about 1.5k hands a day (I think), and therefore 45k hands a month, which is an acceptable amount.
A night or two ago while scouting out the tables I saw the sickest player on Crypto was 6 tabling 2/5 tho, so I decided to stay away. By sickest I don't mean to say he's the best, simply because I have no way of knowing who the best highstakes crypto players are as I don't play high enough, but Gulkines is simply the craziest player I've ever seen. If you want to see some crazy hands I'd highly recommend checking out his hands posted here: http://www.pokerhand.nu/user/gulkines
Usually I see him sitting at every single 25/50+ HU table, but I guess he wanted a change of pace or something.
Ran into a highlight video of the headcoach and owner (I think) of the MMA gym I joined recently:
By the way, is solemnly vow or solemnly swear better? Google can't decide, nor can the dictionary
So after the debacle that was yesterday (see previous blogpost for details, or don't, probably better for my overall reputation as a non-retard tilt monkey if you don't!!) the first thing I did after breakfast today was sit down and 4 table 2/5 again. I had decided that I would move down if I dropped down to 13k (I'm actually not sure exactly how much I have, because the £ sign can't be displayed on this computer without me rebooting and I have cashed out and stuff, but it was probably around 4 more buyins from where I was when I started today).
Anyway, I'm feeling alright, focused, brain working unlike yesterday, and 5 minutes in I get stacked QQ vs KK. But today is different, today I was not to be tilted. Felt nothing, reloaded, continued playing, and finished up after playing some poker that I was very happy with.
There were a few hands that I think I misplayed, but overall I am very happy with my decisions and such today.
(Note: for the majority of my session yesterday I was happy with how I played, just at the end I totally lost it, thankfully I had the presence of mind to instaquit after giving a buyin away).
So, graph from yesterday:
Today:
So basically today and yesterday cancelled eachother out (with a tiny bit of profit).
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/366672 - Thank you, thank you sooo much CaptZeebo (if this doesn't make sense to you, I'm refering to the Zeebo theorem, ie, people never fold full houses, so overbet for value if you have a hand like mine).
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/366892 - One of my notes on him said "Doesn't like to fold", thought I was valuebetting all 3 streets not just the river
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/366893 - Couldn't decide if I should bet river or not, I sort of wanted to just because it's a card I'd use to 3barrel a lot, but meh.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/366897 - Ok, I'm not sure I love my play here.. Hm, the guy minbetting is really bad, I checked cause when he minbets and the other guy calls, I definitely have the caller (who seems like a good player) beat, and the donk can have a veeeeeeeeeeery wide range, and is probably calling a lot of that. But then he instaminraises me and I go wtf. I'm not sure what I'd have done in the moment on a complete blank turn.. Maybe I'd have wimped out but I think because of how bizzarre he plays I might have forced myself to call.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/366904 - Don't like my play here. On the turn I think I instachecked (hoping he'd bluff some draw that missed on the river), then when he bets 20 on the river I was really confused about what to do.
It kind of looked like he wanted to bet 200 but typoed? I'm not sure.
Eitherway I ended up making a stupid minraise hoping he'd do something spazzy, which I think was kinda stupid .
Better to raise to like 180 or something, I think he might call it reasonably light since he might think he induced it.
I guess two other options would be to felt the flop or bet/call turn, but I didn't think he was gonna go apeshit bananas with like AJ here (obv AJcc).. MAYBE AQ? I dunno. Anyway, I think I played it pretty poorly on the river
In other news.. Had second MMA class today (meant to go twice before but the first time I couldn't decide if I was going at first and then suddenly it was too late to get there in time, oops, the second time I read the time wrong on the schedule, double oops).
Anyway, I did some MMA a few years back but quit cause of time contstraints (which is a nice way of saying I wanted to get into the top 32 in the TLTour ladder.. got like 38th or 34th or something, booh). I missed it but always put off going back for some reason, so it feels great to be back.
Also awesome that unlike last time, I'm not dying of exhaustion after the training, I guess running paid off (still not in great shape obviously). Takedown/throws fucking kills you tho, grappling, standup, it's not THAT exhausting, but having to do that and then get up and down/throw people is sick hard on you.
New Years resolutions, status update:
- Sleeping schedule: FIXED (god I feel sooooooo much better sleeping at reasonable hours).
- MMA: started =]
- Go: Ehh, need to get to this one..
- Poker.. ........ I bought a wii. And I've been lazy. I think I've managed 6k hands this month. Hopefully when my 30" monitor arrives from the PS store I will get my shit in gear and do some serious playing
I'm really happy with how I've progressed just between this and last month. I managed to implement many things that I wanted to, and it's really showing in my play I think (ie my att to steal is much, much, much higher than before, my W$WSF has shot WAY up, and in general I'm playing more poker and less 'make big hand, win money, make no hand, lose money').
I think I should work on defending my big blind a bit more tho, right now it's pretty low, but not entirely sure what's optimal.
So to summarize, while I haven't played much, and certainly haven't been killing the games in the tiny sample I have, I'm confident I'm on the right track now and hopefully I can get into a good rhytmn.

WELCOME TO TILTVILLE, POPULATION: ME
All tables closed, time to sleep.
Playing with an att to steal of 48 and having your AA win the blinds - EVERY SINGLE TIME (seen flops: 0 OK?) is the most tilt inducing thing in the whole god damn world.
Ghjjjjjjjjjjjjjffffffffffghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
AA = 100% winrate, 43$ profit in 5 goes (1000 hands).
KK = 100% winrate, 63$ profit in 5 goes. Again, right around 0 flops seen.
QQ = 83% winrate, down 16$, 6 goes, saw like 1 flop and lost to 93o.
I don't really care so much about all of the above, it's just that one last hand - so completely 100% pointless. Just giving the money away..
Barely played any poker at all this month, and handled every beat without feeling tilted, and now today this fucking mess.. I just shouldn't have played today, felt tilted from the moment I woke up
Btw, before anyone thinks I'm busto or something, I only lost like 3 buyins.
It was just that one hand that makes me so furiously disappointed in myself.
First of all, a few graphs:
May-August, November- December, Stars
August-November, Prima
(Hopefully my NL500 shot wont look as ugly as my NL300 shot made this graph look)
Well, there's a few things I'd like to do..
For starters I want to succesfully move up to NL500 (from NL200, new site) and I'd like to play this stake until I manage a 4bb/100 winrate over a significant sample size. Not sure how long I want to stay at NL500 yet, but I'm thinking of being really conservative before I move up to 5/10 (no 2/4 or 3/6 at this site), almost certainly not before I get to 50k, likely more.
Sometime during the year I also want to finally learn heads-up.
Second, I'd like to get a good playing schedule, preferably a set number of hands per month (I'm thinking 50k at least, but I'm not sure how many tables I'll be able to play).
3rd, I really want to get my sleeping schedule straight, start waking up before noon would be a nice start (actually waking up before 6 PM would be a step up for me right now :D).
I also want to get back to training MMA, maybe I'll get a seasons pass (or whatever you want to call it, basically means I can go to any of their classes for the entire spring season). I guess I'll go to as many grappling classes I can since I like that much more than the standup part.
Lastly, I want to start learning Go again, perhaps join the local go club. I completely stopped learning the game around the time I picked up poker, which is too bad since it's a fun game.
So, hope you all had a nice 2007, and that your 2008 will be even better.
SUCH AN ANNOYING SESSION. Kept losing flips/missing every single flop. Then I put a pretty huge cooler on Freak, and after that everyone decided they wanted to donate their stacks to me.
Total Graph
SHOOTING STARS NEVER STOP, EVEN WHEN THEY REACH THE TOP
THERE GOES A SUPERNOVA, WHY DON'T YOU PUSHOVER
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/338913 - God, it feels good when your 'FUCK YOU' calls work. I couldn't win a hand vs this guy since he wouldn't ever fold and I couldn't make a pair - ever.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/338863 - This was fun. I raise, get 3bet, fold. I raise, get 3bet, fold. I raise, get 3bet, I have kings, I 4bet (cause I probably look tilted). He has aces.
I was considering playing 10k hands today and just getting the last 3k VPPs, but eh, not sure if I'll just leave it to tomorrow.. It's nice to quit on a good note and just relax. On the other hand, tables are a lot better on sundays than on mondays.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I accidently sat down at a 2/4 table and minraised UTG, wondering why I only needed to scroll up once to get to 8$ 13bb/100 ez sustainable, of course (lol 16 hands).
I don't really think I should fold but his timing was so gay that I wanted to =[
Was also playing horrible/passive/stupid at the end cause I just wanted to get the 5k hands and lock up a win ;p
Yes, dumb, yes, you should quit when you feel that way. Whatever, 2 more days and I'm doneeeeeeeeeeeeee.
VPPs collected 35,591
VPPs to go 8,260
Todays graph (missing 500 hands and 50$ in profits, they seem to be gone)
2 week graph
As you can see the last week has been mad swingy, the result of getting a little worn out and variance catching up with me (I was running verrrrrrrrrrry hot) + the poor play of yesterday didn't really help me.
Ended the day losing KK vs TT allin preflop so that sucks, but had a bunch of really nice hands before that so I can't really complain
I'll probably be done with this by Monday, which is sweeet. Maybe I can even finish it off with a sunday-monday morning marathon
Played a few hands like a monkey, took a beat or two and laid some myself.
For some reason there's always a 50~ or so hand # discrepancy between my PS hand stats and my pokertracker hand numbers (ie PS says I played 5005 hands, PT says 4,952). Dunno why since I always import once I've closed every table down.
Made a few adjustments to opening ranges, which I think worked out alright. I'm a little passive when playing this many tables tho, not sure how to fix it.
Anyway, thank god this is almost over, only like.. 5 more days. I'm stating to get a little worn out ;p
