Gayest session ever
fira, Jan 20 2009
Played a 2 or so hour 4-tabling session earlier and it was ultra fail. Down many buyins. There was a retard at one of my tables who started with 200$ and ended up $2800~ or so. I got into quite a few pots with him but each time he was able to somehow rape me. Here are a few hands:
Retard hand 1

Retard hand 4

Retard hand 5

I think I won 1 small pot from him all session. Very frustrating.
I'm also becoming more uncertain of my perception of others' ranges. Hands like:
+ Show Spoiler +
Not sure if this was just completely spewey or what but I thought his range includes a shit load of draws and only few made hands. JJ wasn't even on my radar.
+ Show Spoiler +
idk by then I was tilting but still JJ was completely not in what I thought his range would be. Don't people 3bet JJ pf anymore? I thought maybe QJ/diamonds/busted combodraw repping a valubet, or a lower pp looking to thin valuetown ace highs. I dunno but again completely didn't expect JJ.
I have a mid-midterm tomorrow that I actually studied for so time to get a good night sleep and forget about this bullshit. zzz
Some hand statistics

Kinda interesting to see 99 at the top and bigger pairs like TT, JJ, and especially KK as some of my biggest losers. I wonder if this has anything to do with me treating 99 as a medium pair rather than a big one. It's at the top of my medium pair range, just like AA is at the top of my big pair range, and both of them are big winners. Prolly just luck though. Anyways after 12k~ hands my January graph looks quite retarded. Might as well be a horizontal line; you don't want to see it.

Pretty unexciting sessions, not much else to say.
School just started and I'm already ditching nearly as much as last quarter. +1 for easy intro classes though.
I was able to mod my xbox 360 to play burned games, which is pretty cool. The process was painful but now I basically have access to any xbox game available on the internets. yaaaaa
College, Poker, Heroes; Fuck WoW
fira, Nov 11 2008
So ya, finally decided to quit WoW as the world outside Azeroth wails for my assistance. It was a good game while it lasted, until blizzard decided to completely and anally obliterate it with patch 3.0, killing the entire PvP aspect of the game. If anyone's interested in buying level 70 characters, I have a priest, warrior, shaman, and druid for sale (all fully geared, not that it matters in a few days though).
Moved back into college, currently in an off-campus apartment with some friends I knew from freshman year. Class has been a refreshing change and a nuisance. I'd say it's 30-70 though. The girls here are pretty hot (especially our neighbors, who are consistently met with challenges beyond their physical capability; i.e. opening jars, until I heroically come to their rescue).
Poker has been decent. I haven't been playing nearly as much as I did back in my 2k/5knl days (doing 600nl now) but have been able to maintain consistent profit. I've been flipping a lot lately mainly because of my frustration with reading 100 textbook pages of Biology (missed most of the lectures) and dropped a few bi's from doing so. At least I (somehow...) aced the midterm today, that was a relief.
I think the new season of Heroes has progressed nicely with a few twists in the plot. One thing that bugs me is how Sylar has become some shitty wimp ever since adopting "goodness," or rather, being finally able to control his ability. He's an emo fag now and gets physically raped at every opportunity (by peter, then mohindur, then the dad, and maybe some scrub intermediates in between). He used to be badass.

Is it just me

Or is real life poker a lot more collision-free than online poker? I watched some episodes of HSP and it seems like there are so many fewer decent hands players get, whether pre or post flop. A casual hand like KQ vs KT on a board of Kxx is basically considered a setup, and the KT instadonates to KQ. Obviously these players are much better than random online players, but they treat a pair like a set and a straight like a straight flush, and they're right to assume so.
When I hear people complaining about online poker hands, it's usually something like a set over set, quads over boat, nutflush vs 2nd nut flush, etc. It seems like this stuff NEVER happens in real life poker. Occasionally I play in casinos, or home-games with friends, and the worst setup that occurs periodically is maybe set vs overpair or 2pair, nothing more. When I play sessions online, or look at hand histories and such, the setups are 10x more unavoidable and occur 10x more often.
I'm not suggesting that online poker is entirely "rigged," but it's a notable observation that's beginning to mesmerize me. Anyone else notice this?

7:30 AM tbh I don't know why I'm still up. Played some poker earlier then read some convo between me and floofy I had saved. Ugh
also found these, innovative enlightenment
as of now I unno what to do with my life. I'm switching colleges in October, WoW is surprisingly still entertaining, poker is poker, life is good. But when you look at the bigger picture, or rather, the biggest picture, nothing seems to matter. Humans are so insignificant in this universe, and what we comprehend could be less than a microspasm of true wisdom and understanding. Ants in an ant farm do not know they're being observed by higher creatures, because they do not have the mental capacity to comprehend much more than serving their queen, gathering food, and decorating their homes. What is out there in the universe and beyond, nobody knows. If space stretches out into infinity, anything imaginable and not could exist.
Furthermore, what is the meaning of our existence? All of our goals are the same - to live a happy and/or successful life. What happens in the end happens to everybody. Then why are we here? We were meant to be born, grow old, be revealed a negligible glimpse of existence, then disappear. Are we an experiment? Are we part of a greater cause we cannot even begin to realize? Maybe, maybe not.
Time is an interesting theory. Time is often known as the "4th dimension." A fixed dimension, that alters the other three dimensions. Emphasis on the fixed. I don't believe that time is a variable, nor do I believe in the concept of "randomness." Let's make a constant - Alpha, which represents the chronological standing of the creation of existence. Let's pretend that out of nowhere, for unknown reasons, matter in its simplest form was created, at exactly time Alpha. Let's also pretend that exactly one year later from Alpha, the matter has somehow, for unknown reasons, formed into a planet, with simple life forms. One hundred billion years later, a life form known as fira is typing on his computer, writing this long pointless essay not really about any topic in particular. Now stop at this moment, pretend that Alpha to ALpha+100,000,001 years in itself is an individual segment of that which represents time, known as Alpha Earth. Now pretend that in a different universe, dimension, or dome of existence, an exactly identical particle at a second Beta hour has been created. The environment and factors are identical to that which Alpha Earth was created in. This matter, like Alpha Earth, would evolve and progress in the exact same way, would it not? Since the factors in the very start of Beta were identical to those of Alpha, there wouldn't be any reason that Alpha and Beta result differently in one year, or 100 million years, or until the end of time. All life forms, including fira, in both planes, would still be typing his essay, undaunted by his sleepless schedule he has unconsciously permiitted himself of.
Having said all that, the concept of free will is put into question. If time is a fixating constant of the other three dimensions, then it is time that is progressing each and every one of our futures, not ourselves. Bob is 30 years old, works at a company as a software engineer, and drives a large truck. One day as he's driving home, he spots an attractive young virgin walking on the street to the right, and at this exact moment when his attention was not fixed on the road ahead, he crosses over the train tracks and gets hit by the passing train. There were no survivors. Was this tragedy really a misfortune? Or was it just another event in the passing of time, set to happen infinite years ago, by the powers that unleashed Alpha? Did Bob really have a choice of how he would live his life? Of course, Bob was not suicidal and did not want to be hit by the train, nor did the passengers on the train want to murder Bob, but neither had a choice. All occurrences, like Bob's accident, are the product of infinite years of the evolution of Alpha. Every movement we make, every breath we take, every thought we believe are contrivances of our own knowledge and brain activity are actually the products of Alpha. We are puppets in a never-ending theater, given only the sense of freedom.

Jade and I have some art project that is due tomorrow. We finish some of it but spend the rest of the night trying to capture a rat. We capture it for a while (it's fucking tiny) but it escapes and runs away. We see two cats, a blue one and a punk one, who look very similar to pokemon, take out the trash. The next day, the very first project presented was hardcore pro, with like peter pan rising out of flames, saving some chick. The project was to promote an anti-fire product or some bullshit.
