I am hneaz and I play NL10. I am currently a senior at University of Illinois and friends with fellow LP members such as edzwoo, Jas0n, acckerman, k40cheddar, and TilICollapse, whom I met all at the Illini Poker Club.
I have been at N L10 since July 2010. I realize that I was leaking a lot and mass tabling way too much thus losing about 20+ buy ins in the last 7 months. My mindset was achieve Silverstar and earn Stellar Rewards as well as cash bonuses and I would be ok. I was still rolled for NL10 from playing NL50 HU shortstacked and cashing out at the Sunday Million (I was staked by a high stakes friend and kept $100). I almost called it quits and just focus on school but i realized that you can never quit poker. I am studying statistics so I am always thinking about poker.
In order to improve, I decided that I should ask for help from TilICollapse. I was sweated before by some people and it helped a lot but I decided to be sweated by TilICollapse because of his insane win rate at NL 400. I played 6 tables during the sweat and I was able to concentrate very well than when I used to 12-16 table before.
I went up 2 buy ins in less than 500 hands and I was playing more aggressively by 3 betting more, using position, stealing blinds and just playing smart poker. One thing that really helped was reasoning out my moves such as why I am doing this and what I am trying to accomplish. 6 tabling NL10 is really awesome because I am not playing like a robot.
Below is my graph in the last 3 days. I played looser after the sweat just to experiment the new style I am adopting. I used to play 12/10 before and I know I am still leaking somewhere and I hope to improve my game. My goal is not only beat NL 10 but be a disciplined player who can take bad beats like a man and understand why I am making moves in different situations. I think that discipline is key in becoming a bette player.
My stats. This is a very small sample size so dont judge by VPIP and PFR stats. I hope that my VPIP, PFR and 3 bet% will fall in the future. I was playing to see what worked and what did not work.
I haven't been able to put in the volume that I would like to with all the jobs I have. Ultimately, I've started playing HU SNG's, and I definitely have an edge. Most people don't know how to play HU, and I feel like that is my niche.
However, in my quest to make money without doing anything (relatively), I've decided to start on some online sports betting. Is oddsmaker.com a good site? Are there any other sites you suggest?
I feel that being an avid baseball fan gives me an edge. I also think that being a writer gives me somewhat of an inside scoop as I'm always trying to read and learn more about the sport. I understand all of the little things that can affect the outcome of a game.
The system that I want to use is basically a $1-$10 system. Pick the games that I am confident a certain team will win, and judge how confident I am on a scale of 1 to 10, and that would be the bet I would make. I would stay away from games I am not too confident in (for example I don't plan on making $1 bets on a lot of games. Only bet the games that are probably going to be one sided).
Thanks for reading. If you have any advice on what site I could use, let me know!!!
some movies i forgot to review...inc what to avoidby whamm!, April 10
"fair game" - naomi watts, sean penn (true to life story) politics iraq conspiracy blah blah --- very solid movie though
"It's a kind of funny story"(off-comedy) - distressed teen thinks hes nuts checks himself into mental facility blah blah, good acting, heartwarming juno-ish, humor smartass kid meets odd fellow played by zach(hangover slob guy is here) nuff said
"the reef" - aussie sharkuuuuuh movie, been awhile since there's been a remotely decent one, so i guess this is a must when you're bored. decent thriller, from the makers of that aussie croc movie. believe me
the trailer does not do it justice - its not horrible at all, and the trailer is not the movie and its strange they picked such a horrible trailer with scenes that aren't even in the movie at all - strange.
"van diemens land" - creepy movie, based on aussie prison camp escape in some wilderness, resort to eating each other, slow paced movie, "the way back" meets "ravenous" without the funny shit.
"wake wood" - eerie horror movie about a couple who moves to a small town to forget the gruesome death of their kid, only to be told by the townsfolk that they can "help" them out, decent gem of a unknown flick.
"I hope they serve beer in hell" - i cant believe this movie did not receive any buzz?!? this movie is a solid dude movie, smart funny dialogue, good acting and solid characters, recommended.
avoid these torrent available deceptively decent movie crap:
"hobo with a shotgun" - even for a "bad movie" its bad
"human centipede" - crazy german doctor traps 3 people, 1 jap, two girls, surgically connect them mouth to ass, highlight of the movie - jap guy in front is fed and needs to shit so girl's mouth stitched to his ass obv eats shit lol
"london boulevard" - shit
"vanishing on 7th street" - shit
"the speed of light" - shit, dont use your metered bandwidth on thsi crap
OK...Terran preferably, since i'm high masters terran, taking point inflation into consideration, last season I probably would have ended at around 4k. I usually sit around top 600 in NA. I've been playing BW for about a decade. I am offering free coaching. The best ways to do this is through skype + streaming. I'll do an hour per person, the reason I'm doing this is to gain credibility through LP members who play SC2 and poker who are also winners at their respective stakes, because I would like to eventually trade sc2 coaching for poker coaching. I'm willing to invest quite a while of coaching to only gain credibility...so lemme know~
Does anyone have any input on what I should change by looking at my stats? It looks pretty nitty but I have been opening up my range quite a bit when I'm in good position. My experience with post-flop play is getting better and I'm getting the confidence to open up my range in good positions. Pretty obv stuff but it's clicking.
I think I will play about 1k more hands to hit 10k total and move up officially after that. The reason why my volume is so low is because Bodog only lets you open 4 tables at once. The pro about that is that I can concentrate on those four quite well and play better.
y did i ever stop playing huby Seobombisgay, April 09
I forgot how beatable husngs were every since I started focusing on 6max sngs. Well, gonna grind husngs to build a solid roll on heropoker and will probably throw in some 6maxs again.
8 episodes. some were hilarious one episode not so much as it is hard to be funny doing a documentary but this guys insight is really some form of retarded, forrest gumpish genius lol
Ricky Gervais laugh is one i do only when Im almost in tears when I laugh, some find it annoying but im pretty sure it's not fake at all.
he looks at the old woman who passes by and says
"I bet she left her house when she was about, 10." ROFL
I've been playing nl25 part time for the last year while doing what ever work I can find around here. I've been stuck at nl25 due to cashouts & volume issues. I called one of the guys that has sporadic work for me and he said there should be work for me starting next week, but he isn't 100% sure. So I'm looking at most likely having work for the next couple weeks at least. That said I had a rough week at the end of march and had to cash out the vast majority of my roll to pay bills. I'm currently playing nl10 with a 10BI bankroll. I would much rather get a stake for nl25 (possibly nl50) than work my way up. I don't know how long this work will last so the faster I'm back at stakes where I can actually pay bills the better.
About me
I've been a member of LP since jan 07 and TL since aug 05. I don't think I really need to mention much more. I haven't been a part of any transactions/stakes/coaching with anyone here.
Results
I've been playing since 07 but didn't take it seriously so I was at nl2 for close to two years. I started taking it more seriously in 2009 and got to nl25 easily. I stopped playing much at all for roughly a year due to my work/living situation. That job ended and I moved on to what ever part time work I could find while supplementing that with my nl25 winnings. I had stars email me all my hands since jan of 2010 (I don't have access to the majority of those hands at the moment), so I'm assuming my HEM is accurate.
What I'm offering
I would like a stake of 30-40 BI for nl25. I will be able to play at minimum 10-20 hours per week of 4 or 9 tabling. I have skype and will be able to be contacted daily, with exceptions, and will provide weekly reports on a specified day. I am willing to play nl50 if anyone wishes to stake me for it, but I have little experience there and am not confident I can produce the results I can at nl25. I'm more than willing to work with any of these terms, but I expect to be working 40 hours mon-fri starting during the week of April 10th.
What I expect
I'm not too familiar with staking so as long as my backer is comfortable with letting me do my thing then I'm going to be happy. That said I would much prefer splitting profit rather than paying 100% of my profit back to pay off asap. I am willing to do a stake/coaching deal if it is preferred, but like I said I am only truly confident at nl25 currently.
That's pretty much it. I don't currently have skype installed so if you are interested the only way of getting a hold of me is through LP. If you are interested PM me. I will be reading comments, but I don't know how often so PM is by far the best way to get my attention.
HU PLO makes me cringe so hardby ManofFire, April 08
My god - I swear I can never win a coinflip...
I'm about 65 tournament BI lifetime under EV in this game and so far am only up like 15$ from playing this game +_+
The only good news is that on the other side of the spectrum I'm like 25 over EV for HE.
I must go dunk my head in my tears because whenever I try moving up with PLO I just get hit by the gayest nonsense in the world over and over again.
So i just moved my roll to PS, i set my seating position to bottom left for all tables. It is not syncing up with my HEM hud. Player stats are showing up in different spots on different tables
Going to try to make this as professional as possible, I am looking for a stake for the NL100-NL200 games on PokerStars. About 6 months ago I more or less entirely stopped playing online poker, I was a little burnt out and mostly just wanted to explore living poker free. I withdrew my role, took a couple of vacations, moved to Las Vegas, and basically just relaxed. Unfortunately, if poker has taught me anything, it's that I hate to waste free time. Lately, despite joining xtreme couture, I've found myself with a lot of free time and not a lot of ways to fill it, and thus my itch for poker has come back. I've decided I'd rather take a stake rather than deposit a meager amount to build up through micro's for two reasons. First, I feel it's a colossal waste of time and energy; micro's aren't the super easy quick stop they were even just a year ago and that combined with rake means I'd be spending far more time there then I'd like. Second, and more importantly, I am in the process of buying a condo in vegas. Nothing special, just a small condo to not waste money on rent. My realtor has told me that it's necessary to build up my bank account well and not have random unexplained purchases or withdrawls as those look bad to mortgage bankers.
What you can expect from me
*I am, and always have been, a very solid winner at NL100 and NL200. I'm certainly no rakeback pro.
*I have very consistent volume. I don't handle a bunch of tables very well and I found out very quick I simply can't endure the long hours of reaching supernova elite. What I can do is 50k hands a month, with all of them me being on my A game.
*Updates as you see fit. I was staked once before for a significant sum of money by someone on the site (won't name him out of respect) and I didn't update as much as he would have liked. It was a learning experience for me and I came to the realization that no matter what happens, so long as I let my backer know in a timely and forthright manner the situation will be resolved.
What you won't get from me
*Most importantly by far, I am not a tilt monkey. I have endured swings that many poker players only see in their nightmares, if you ptr me you will see a sudden dip around august of 09', that corresponds to a swing in which I ran 130 buyins below EV. What you won't see there is sudden jumps in my graph, I do not chase losses or play above my roll. You'll also notice I was able to work out of it.
What I expect of you
*I expect someone that will be willing to keep me in the games. As I mentioned before, I have endured some pretty awful swings and I know just how easy it is to lose huge chunks of your roll seemingly out of nowhere. I want a backer that will see this for what it is, and will help me to fight through it by keeping me in the games.
As I stated before, I was staked once before. The stake started out rough but my backer stuck with me and I was able to turn him a $10k profit after about 5 months of playing. I don't want to out who it was but if it's necessary to know I can talk to him and see if he's ok with discussing it.
Unfortunately, I reformatted my computer just a few days ago and I don't have my software right now. If you want to see how I perform at the games check my ptr, my sn is the same as it is here: KeanuReaver. Others that I have played with on this site can also attest to my skill as a player, I'm certainly not great by any means but I'm a creative, thinking, strategically sound player. If you're interested in staking me, please send me a pm.
